I have a problem reading from Flex a url which has Transfer-Encoding: chunked because the FLex waits for the server to send terminate signal which in chunked transfer isn't sent...
i made a simple project reads XML file and it works good when the file is encoded with UTF-8 (the file contains arabic text) but flash can't read XML encoded with windows-1256 ?
I've read some books on creating stateless websites, I've read some about stateful client applications, but a lot of complexity comes along when you have to combine both. We have a Flex application that needs to persist data to a database via .NET services. Things to keep in mind are:
- Concurrency (optimistic/pessimistic)
- Performance: Flex needs to load in lots of data so lazy-loading is often necessary.
- Do you use Dto's to transfer data between server and client?
I'll tell you the history of our product. We've used SubSonic from the beginning as a o/r mapper. SubSonic objects are converted to dto's written by us and these dto's are transferred to the client. Clientside the dto's are converted to the domain model. If clientside a domain model object needs to be saved, it is converted back to a dto and send to the server. Server side the dto is converted to a subsonic object and saved to the database.
Now, some time ago, we needed the domain model on the .NET server side... so now we have like three models on the server side, the subsonic model, the dto model and the domain model. The dto model is more simple and resembles the database more, the domain model has much more logic. It gets complex... We now have to synchronize the AS3 domain model code with the C# domain model code. If we could do it again (of get time to refactor) I think we wouldn't use the dto's anymore, but transfer the domain model between client and server. Dto's are simple objects so easy to transfer. Domain model objects can be very complex.
I'm wondering if there is an encoding like UTF8/16 that can account for characters that are bold, italic, underlined, and super/sub-scripted? If not, is it under consideration by the powers that be? Reason for the question is that I have a large excel file where many cells contain rtf text such as italics, bold, superscript; and I need to access the information on a row-by-row basis. I know I can save the file in html or xml, but I would like to import the data into MySQL - keeping the formatting - and then being able to access the data a row at a time.
I've considered using Markdown or Textile, but that means a whole lot of time changing each cell - we're talking about 5,000 records. Also, I want to continue to use Flex and I'm not sure if Flex can display html formatted text in their text controls because of their their text engine...
Some text (or html) document from web is not encoded as UTF-8, so I want to convert encoding of text document to UTF-8. Do you have any clues for dealing with text encoding?
And I found that, when application draws element with encoding-broken text (such as "º ½¾ ±"), the application is often killed with alert dialog "adl quit unexpectedly". How can I make my application more endurable.
I am trying to encode certain values that I receive from keyboard event. Basically I want to check if a certain key combination has been pressed or not, so for that I am converting the key codes into sequence/pattern and store it in an object and a value(function) against each code sequence. Now I have to use four bytes and in first byte(MSB) I've to store shift, alt, ctrl respectively and in the last(LSB) I have to store the keycode of the key pressed.
Here is the code: private function m_encodeValue(key:String, Ctrl:Boolean = true, Alt:Boolean = true, Shift:Boolean = false):uint { var encodedValue:uint; encodedValue = uint(Shift) << 2 | uint(Alt) << 1 | uint(Ctrl); encodedValue = encodedValue | (uint(key.toUpperCase().charCodeAt(0)) << 24); return encodedValue; }
I want to post data to a URL on my server from a Flex app. I am using the following UrlParam = UrlParam + '&name='+ name.text + '&business=' + buisness.text; navigateToURL(new URLRequest(UrlParams),'_self'); The problem I am having however is that if I enter a business with an ampersand ("A&b.com") then the name does not send. Does Flex have anything out of the box to do the encoding from & to %26?
I need to compress video image data (lets say a display object) in AS3 to a Byte Array with high compression at runtime. Framerate only needs to be around 5 but 1024x768 video needs to go to < 40 Kilobyte per Second without the quality being too bad. I wrote a custom encoder and got it to around 80-100 Kilobyte per Second for 1024*768 which still is too much and I don't see a lot of improvements to be mad to my encoder.
Using JPG or PNG Encoder gives way higher KB/s. Is there any open source way to to decode and encode video in as3 at runtime ? E.g. a H.264 as3 encoder and decoder ? Or other codecs? Or maybe a C# source code of h.264 encoder and decoder ? I think I could port it to as3. Doesnt need to be h.264, just something with good quality when running at 5 Frames/Sec and 40 Kilobyte...
I embed a text file into my Flex project and read its contents using code like this:[code]The contents of the file is abc. The problem is that the string loaded from the file is not comparable to other strings even though when printed or viewed in the debugger (in FlashDevelop) it seems to be perfectly fine.[code]How do I convert it into a proper string? I tried to use the string methods such as substring to create a copy, but that does not seem to be the solution.
I managed to create a simple flash animation but it's not 100% correct.
-First, what's the proper way to transfer an image in flash?I chose paste special. It worked but it made the image a bit pixelated. The original looked fine.
-Second besides adding more or less frames, how do you change the speed of the entire timeline.
-Third, does an image need to be converted in any way? The animated image is it's own layer. So does it have to be converted to symbol or movie or something else?
-Fourth, how do I move(not motion) the image. Do I have to move each frame group or is there a way to move the entire timeline if I need to realign the image?
It's not exactly that, but it works the same way. It's about a login form with Flash and PHP. It must send data (username and password) to PHP, PHP has to check for a record in MySQL and then to return data to Flash. How does it works and how to return the data to Flash?
I need to read data from a file after a user has selected a file using a file browser, for a Flex web app (NOT AIR). I know this is possible in Flash 10 using the FileReference class load and data methods. But using Flash 10 is not an option for me. So does anyone know of anyway I can do this in Flash 9?
I've been using Flash Video Encoder for quite a while now and never had a problem encoding flash from wmv. But in the last week suddenly encoding crashes on ever attempt. At first I thought it was a change in the format of the video that was being introduced, but then I tired videos that I know that I've converted previously. They crash too. I've also tried on 3 different computers, that have all had success in the past.
I have some German content which contains an umlaut (ü). This content is being built into an XML file. I then have a flash file which uses the xml to build a coverflow. My problem is that the 'ü' character is not being displayed in the coverflow. I've made sure the xml is encoded correctly, as you can see from the snippet below:
As you can see, the umlaut is in the albumName element, but when that text displays it simply misses out the 'ü'. I've added a bunch of encoding groups to the text element in the coverflow file, as well as specifically adding the 'ü' in the 'Include these characters' element. I'm stuck for how to get this to display.
This is not something new I'm sure and a lot of people have found or are looking for a solution for stablishing an encrypted data transfer between flash and php but the wiered thing is that there are few resources when I try googling about this so, all I'm trying to achive is to encrypt data in flash with a key or something (I don't want to build my own algorithm, I'd like to use some standard ones like MD5) and then send the data out to a PHP file and after the php read the data it will also encrypt and send the results back to flash...
I was happy and downloaded the as3crypto class from google code... installed and ran it and it worked for the first tests... then when I tried using that method in my project I noticed that the encrypted data being sent from PHP to flash, sometimes does not work! again I searched and found out that some other people are also having the same problem and are saying that this as3crypto does not work well with sending data to php!!!I'm out of time and out of mind so what should I do if I want my data sent to php and vice versa to be encrypted? or maybe I'm using that as3crypto thing in a wrong way?! I did exactly as described in the above sample blog.
I need to transfer data from a flash application running in a browser to a server running php. If I use an https connection will that be enough to ensure that the data sent from flash to the server is encrypted and sensitive data can't be sniffed, or do I need to do encryption in my flash application itself?
i have a problem with flash maybe i have an online exchange table which loaded in a flash page when i import the exchange swf in a flash page on ftp it cant get the datas from php but when i open the exchange swf independently in ftp it get the datas from php and it works
I know there are a lot of topics already on this. I have read (hundreds of) them and I'd still like your input.
If I have a flash UI that takes user input and passes it to PHP; is this secure? I have read that, yes, this is okay. I have also read that no, you need to encrypt the data, by say hashing it before sending to PHP. OK, easy, I do this already but.....
In my case I have the data/password stored (when the user inputs it, not in the swf of course) and sent every time I want to access any PHP (using AMFPHP). The PHP check this password each time and only runs if it gets the correct password. So in this case if I hash the password, it makes no difference, it just changes what the password is rather than providing any actual security (well maybe minimal because it's less recognizable).
So can someone extract a password that is sent from flash to PHP?
So I've tried to build a small utility to view the contents of a JSON file in an easy-to-understand manner (for non-tech people).I have Googled far and wide, high and low, but every example that shows how to consume a JSON file in Flash Builder uses the HTTP service, pointing to a file on the web. Here I am, sitting in front of my MacBook, wondering why I can't make this work. In the documentation I've found (sort of relating to this issue), they always show Windows examples, and they seem to work fine:That doesn't work. I've tried some "resolve to path" syntax, but the HTTP service does not seem to allow for anything but file paths in quotes.
have created a contact form that sends 3 lots of data (name, email and message) to my email address. here is my code for my flash form which looks right
However, no matter what I do I can't seem to get data from my components to a PHP file on my server.Ultimately,I am making a flash form that will submit the form data to the PHP script and make entries into a mySQL database. Before I do that, though, I thought I'd first just try to see if I could get data processed in PHP.So,I created a simple PHP file that simply displays the data on the screen, and I made a single-button flash movie that has some actionscript in it.Here is the code for the PHP file:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />[code]....
And here is the code for the actionscript I have in my button:
on (click)[code]....
I'd like to note that my actionscript is a direct copy/paste from the Adobe online reference for actionscript 2 (with a change to the php path, of course).I upload everything and visit the page with the flash button in it.When I click the button, I am taken to the .php page as expected, but the only thing I get on my screen is "...and that's all I've got."
firstName, lastName, and age never get processed.Eventually, I'll be wanting to send data from form components. But as a first step, I can't even get this working correctly. Does anyone have any insight?I'm using Macromedia Flash 8 (I'd love to upgrade, but Adobe won't let me since it's part of a suite...and I don't want to upgrade the whole suite.
