i made a simple project reads XML file and it works good when the file is encoded with UTF-8 (the file contains arabic text) but flash can't read XML encoded with windows-1256 ?

once. The XML file is being created dynamically so its getting larger but flash only displays first value for variabel VALUE.
Is it possible to read/write data to and from Access with Flash in a offline format? I need to create a stand alone system that users can log into and pull information from - but it will not be networked or have any sort of internet connection.

I know I can strip the doublequotes, but don't want to go that route if I can avoid it. I've tried replacing to double quotes with hex codes before passing the text via parameter to my flash file, but the text string always cuts off at the hex code, the same as if the double quote were present in the string. View 1 RepliesI have a slideshow.swf (I cannot change it contents, there is no .fla) which gets input from slideshow.xml and finds pictures to display in a folder called 'images' . Pretty basic for a flash picture gallery.
The problem: I want to load the slideshow.swf into a loader component in another flash movie, say holiday.fla. (So i have the loader component in holiday.fla and I tell it to load the movie slideshow.swf). How can i tell the slideshow.swf file where to find its data e.g. slideshow.xml? or How can i have slideshow.swf read from slideshow.xml?
For ages we have used the Flash Object in a .NET app for managing the development of eLearning. The embedding is done (I presume) in much the same way that IE embeds flash object (e.g. using a COM object which maps back to Flash10c.ocx)We are testing our application on Windows 7 RC 64-bit edition but the .NET application is unable to instantiate the Flash control, raising a "Class not Registered" error. Although the OS is 64-bit, the .NET app and Flash object are 32-bit and should work together without problems. I have confirmed that the IE browser (32-bit version) on the Windows 7 (x64) does indeed instantiate Flash files OK.

Why is you can read data from a locally stored XML file but not update or add data to it. how absurd a design would that be, it simply wouldn't be logical!

I am attempting to get data from an xml file load in flash. I followed a tutorial in a new fla and it seemed to work fine, I then tried to adapt it to my own needs which worked fine. But then when trying to implement this into my news section it doesn't seem to work. I am trying to make a news section, that displays the date and news article. This is in within a movie clip, I even tried putting it in the timeline of the scene but still nothing.
- I have 2 dynamic text boxes, date_txt and news_txt
- The xml file is named news.xml,
- both the fla and the xml are in the same folder

View 1 RepliesI have a Flash movie which is embeded in 'base.aspx' file, when a button is clicked in the flash movie another 'something.aspx' file need to be called.When I run the flash movie from the Adobe Flash Professional CS3 IDE , it (the flash movie) calls the 'something.aspx' file just as expected.However when I embed the flash movie in to the 'base.aspx' file it doesn't work as expected .
View 4 RepliesI have a main swf file and config.xml located in the same directory. My .swf file uses config.xml to fetch config variable which it does with success.The problem appears when I put those files into Flex directory. I embed .swf file like this.

I have a problem loading remote XML file into SWF file. Im doing a banner for a client with adds that is supose to load constantly updated XML file from my clients server and load some images into flash form it. Everything works fine when i test the movie (CTRL+ENTER), but when i publish it and test it from explorer, XML file is just not loading into flash.

It looks like security settings is not allowing thi tohappen, as the local files are treated as a separate sandbox.If I were to use System.security.allowDomain, how do Ipecify local files? Once the user hits the send button, I want the input information appended to an existing XML file. Depending on the selction in the dropdown menu it should be appended to a specific node in the XML.

I would like to import text from a XML file into a dynamic text field. The XML file contains database records. I have found that Flash does not support the DOM command 'getElementsByTagName()' which I was endeavouring to use to find the record in the XML file that I wanted to associate with a particular dynamic text field.
Is there any other way to search through the XML file for the particular record I am looking for?
