I would like to know whether it is possible to record a live stream with default fms application "live" or "livepkgr", so that the video stream can be played later on using "vod" application? If this is possible then how? What should be configuration for "live" or "livepkgr" application?

View 9 RepliesI have seen lots of different things about recording live streams (maybe too much, pieces everywhere but no one good source for the answers), but not what I am looking for...I want to setup recording of live streams on FMIS 3.5 where the file is named the stream name plus a timestamp (something like streamname-yyyymmddHHMMSS: myteststream-20090928101015).The people who use our site tend to start/stop several times (we are dealing with events that have breaks) and I want to be able to combine all the files with the same name into one big file on the server side afterwards using some utilities.I cannot find a tutorial that walks you through the different functions, the differences between them, and how recording is setup/works.

Ideally I'd like people to watch my event live AND archive it while they watch.
I've read suggest naming the stream in the FMLE to something like mp4:mystream.mp4 or mp4:mystream.f4v but then you can no longer view the stream, and according my the admin console the stream will not even publish using this syntax.
I can view the published stream if I name the FMLE stream to something like mystream.mp4 or just mystream, but then it doesn't record at all or records as a FLV file depending on how I code the main.asc file.
It's natural for users to find something interesting and record it when subscribing to a live video,
but so far I can only record it when publishing,
I'm looking for a solution where clients watch a live stream video and can record part of this stream while watching and save this recording to disk. I can think of several solutions but not sure if any of them is possible:
- The selected part is recorded locally and saved through FileRefence.
- The selected part is recorded with FMS though a second NetStream and saved with a unique ID. The user can retrieve the recorded video by download.
- Start-time and end-time of the recording are send to the server where some script extracts the requested video from the live stream recording file and return it as a download.

View 1 RepliesI use FMS 3.5 and i have same problem.....the delay of live video from the studio to clients is big, 10 seconds if i restart the server. After one day of staying on, the delay reaches 1 minute or 2.
The FMS is connected to 1 Gibabyte internet fiber, and the stream is VP6, 500kbps video and 128kbps audio, 720x576 resolution. Server Quad 3.0Ghz, 4 Gb Ram.
Please help me to minimize the delay. What i must write in application.xml from live folder?????? Is there a command. I don't want to make buffer, i want the clients to receive live stream, if the stream is buffering i want to play it jumping that sequence, to maintain the live aspect,not to delay it if the clients doesn't have a good internet conection.
Let's suppose i have 1 FMS, 1 Media Encoder, and 2 computers with flash player on the same Switch ( Local area Network). I've made some tests and the delay i get is minimum 5 seconds.
I have a folder in my applications folder in FMS 4.0 Is it possible to stream both Live and VOD from this sames folder.
View 1 RepliesI'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times, but searching for "application" "buffer" "cache" "live" and "hls" isn't giving me any answers, so let's get to it. After I end a live stream (which I do using FMLE 3.2 and FMS 4.5) and I then start a new live stream with the same application name, the HLS stream just loops the last 30 seconds of the old stream. To prevent this, after I end a stream, I have to go to applicationslivepkgstreams\_definst_ and delete the buffered data there. Only then can I start a new stream with the same name as the old stream. Now... that can't be normal, can it? Is there a switch somewhere I can set to tell FMS to cut it out and stop buffering old streams?

My Encoder is setup with three streams: Vid: 500 kbps - Audio: 48 kbpsVid: 800 kbps - Audio: 48 kbpsVid: 1500 kbps - Audio: 48 kbps I start the encoder and everything looks fine in the log. In my browser (Safari or Firefox) I go to my html site and the stream starts after 6-8 sec. But anytime with the lowest bitrate 548 kbps and nothing look like the stream is switching to another bitrate. I tried it with the smil playlist and the result is the same. Only the lowest bitrate is plublished.

I'm having a problem with recording a live webcam stream. The last few seconds of the stream is getting cut off.
The recording is stopped with the following piece of code:
vid.attachCamera(null);
vid.clear();
ns.attachCamera(null);
ns.attachAudio(null);
ns.pause();
What could be causing this? Is the stream cut off too soon? Is the client unable to send buffered data to the server?

One that sends data and one that recieves data. The functionality is more or less like this example. The article says: "Note: If you record the video on the server side (a functionality of FMIS), the injected events are lso being triggered by the recorded file."
