Actionscript 3 :: Change Label Color On Button States (FLex 4)

I have a button in my application and I want it to respond a bit in a special way. Initially the label color of the button is White, I want the color of the text to change to 50% white on the Over State and to 25% on the Down state. Is this possible?
I tried an alternative way using css which does not do the percentage stuff but only changes the color (see css code below), but this does not seem to work. I more specifically want the color to change in terms of percentage like I mentioned above.
Note that I am using the Skin file only to loads images for each state on the button.
Anybody know how to change the label text color associated with a radio button component in timeline-based AS3? I know in older versions you just said: btnName.color=[rgb color...]
i'm trying to create a unordered list in Flex. My issue is that within each line, i want the word NEW to be a different font color and different font size from the rest of the label text. I am unsure of how to do this INLINE within the label component.

I have created one button component using one Bitmap and one Label in it. Thing is that when user Clicks on on the button I want to changes button's Icon/Image and Label Text. I want to do this using FlashCS5 and ActionScript-3. I have tried following but it gives me runtime Error
ive got an image with text pasted on the top. i want to turn into a button as when the mouse rolls over it i want it to go lighter. so i changed it into a button by pressing f8 convert to button and changed the alpha value in the over status, the brightness changed but the text diasappeared.take 2 - tried the same again minus the text, converted just the image to a button but now when i double click it to get the various hit, over down etc stage theyre not there! i tried to select edit but seemingly that just edits the alpha property but not in any particular stage
What is the easiest way to change the background color of a toggle button when it is selected?I've tried creating a custom skin for the button and applying it to the downSkin property, but I can't figure out how to change the background color from within the skin. Also I'd like to avoid using an image as a background if possible.
Is it possible to change the value of a dynamic text box inside a button's up/over states? For example, I have a button in my library which has a dynamic text field in both the up and over states. My AS loads XML data and adds the correct number of buttons while filling in the text boxes from the XML data. It seems like this should be possible, but so far I haven't made any progress.
I'm just getting started switching from flash to flex for the better components. I am trying the simple experiment of adding a button and then changing the label. This code does not work. It does not recognize myButton. In flash I could access a button instance after adding it using the instance name. Can't you do this in flex?
I'm building an Xml-driven application. I create new states in a separate actionscript-class.These states all contain a DataGrid. I can switch the states in the Main.mxml.
But now I would like to access certain children of the DataGrid. In this case I would like to toggle the visibility of GridItems, from a Button in the Main.mxml.
How do I have access and apply this to the already created states ? I tried to create RemoveChilds and override/push it to the state.All I archieved was to remove an entire GridRow at the very last state, but it should be just one GridItem at every state.
What I am trying to do is to have the button color change to a different color when it is on the page. The color only changes when I roll over it or hit it. Once I am on the page it changes back to the color it is on the up state.
I have a group of spark label components within a VGroup. Is there a way to change the background color to the labels when the user rolls over them? I've tried adding rollOverColor to the VGroup, but it didn't work.

I came across this piece of code and it intrigued me. I haven't seen skinning like this before. I'd like to know if there are any downsides and alternatives to it. For example, is it cpu intensive like addChild calls are?
Is there any way to change Spark button label dynamically? When i click on it, i want the label to change. I bind the String to label and gives value for the first time, but even flashBuilder shows me that Data binding will not be able to detect assignments. Here is my button:
I want to use Log4Fx to log button clicks from a state as i have a state based application with transitions.So on each button click I want to log which state was the user in while he clicked the button because the state change happens on a button click. Can someone suggest a code snippet?
If I have say 7 buttons, each containing text that changes color on rollover using the "Up" "Over" and "Down" keyframes in the buttons' timeline. Is there a simple way to get the button's text to change color when clicked, stay that way, and then change back to the original color once one of the other 6 buttons are clicked?
The only thing I can come up with is writing pages of code for each button that changes the color of every other button regardless of whether it was active.

i create a form for order a item in flex. i use <mx:TextInput /> for getting the information from client and use a <mx:Button /> for submit the information in database. But client requirements is when user click on button then first show a confirmation page with details information that client give. But can't use another page or <mx:TextInput /> in this confirmation page, it will be <mx:Label />. After show the confirmation page if clients click on Button then submit the info. How can i convert a <mx:TextInput /> into <mx:Label /> with all properties in flex? Is it possible?
Is it possible to change a frame label within a gotoAndStop('label') with the parameters in a function?I'm playing around with updating code as I learn more and more techniques, and at the moment the code is a basic click-a-button to select the object shape, and on press the button disappears:

However I can't/don't seem to know how to change a frame label through function parameters, or if what I'm trying to do is even possible.Also to note, while I'm all ears for any more efficient ways of doing what I'm trying to do, I would still like to know how/if you can change frame labels through function parmeters.
I have used states in my application.The thing is I have made the first item in my list to be selected. so I gave like this,
if(itemIndex == 0) this.currentState="selected";
this works fine.The problem is when other item is selected the first item does not change its state,it remains in the selected state until its clicked.My code looks like this,
Let's say I have about 100+ buttons. They all have the same label. Now I want to change the label for all with a click. I could give them IDs and then run a for loop, but I'm searching for a neater solution.[code]...
