I have a datagrid with one datagridcolumn in it. Without a custom itemrenderer I can use a datatipfunction for showing a custom datatip but now I want to have a custom item render for colouring the rows differently.Therefore I extended a label and changed the data method but now my datatipfunction does not work anymore.
View 3 RepliesHow do I differentiate between a data provider update and a itemrender being recycled when using a custom itemrenderer in a DataGroup?I have overridden the set data function of the custom item renderer, but I have found that on making a change to the ArrayCollection used as the DataProvider some of the item renderers are not assigned the same object they had before the update. This has made it almost impossible for me to distinguish between a data update and an itemrender being recycled. Also, the data never seems to get set to a value = null, so that seems to be out as well.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a series of scripts that will create some custom event listeners. I have three movie clips on my stage. One is a movieclip who's sole function is to hold array's and the event listeners. A second which moves around the screen. And a third that is motionless. The problem is that the argument I want to test (which activates the custom event) is held within a string. What I want to know is, how do you test to see if the string argument is true?
Is it something similar to this:
var myCode:String="1<0";
if(myCode){
trace('one is smaller than 0'); //Strangely apparently one IS smaller than 0!!!
}
I think I'm going about this in the wrong manner, however this is the only way I can think of this working... (since I need to be able to dynamically create these events).
I m passing variable/ file name in html/ php like this

I m creating custom player and want to use flashvars in AS2 in my file and call it dynamically in PHP. this is how i m calling the mp3 file

I have a List with an ItemRenderer. When I click a button, then a property of the ArrayCollection I bound to the list is changed.
When I click the button, then it does change the property, but the list doesn't change.

We know already Datagrid defult sorting , when we click on header of dategrid then automatically sorting records well . But how can we sort within inline itemreander linkfield label in datagrid . In project defult sorting properly work in datagrid but linked field column only not sorting ? Is it any way to sort functionality?
View 1 RepliesI would like to bind a variable from my ActionScript to a property of a component that is in a ItemRender. But I always get this error:
1120: Access of undefined property currentRoom.
Here is my code
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" xmlns:solutionItems="com.barco.components.ControlRoomConfigurator.solutionItems.*">
<mx:Script>

I would like to use the object currentRoom in my ItemRenderer component.
In Flex 4 (beta 2), I have a list control populated from an XMLListCollection. What I would like to do is when an item is selected in the list, use a custom item renderer on the selected item as well as the item that appears just prior to the selected item in the list.
I am using a spark list control, but I am open to alternate components if the solution makes sense.Here is the strucutre of the xml used to populate the XMLListCollection

<Image>
<Id>1</Id>
<Url>http://www.mydomain.com/image1.png</Url>

I have one list, which the item render it`s like this:link. But now I need to enable or disable the button delete depends the view state which my List is inside. This is my view(which contains the list):

I would like to make an item renderer that can be resized by the user the idea behind that is I am making a canvas which users can layout reports on and in that I would like them to be able to rezise items.
View 1 RepliesWhen I define custom propertie in my MXML component, I also want to define a set of possible values of that property to make Flex Builder show then (possible values of the custom property) when I invoke code completion function.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to extend the mx:Box container so that two buttons sit on the outside of the container to cycle through it's contents (similar to a scrollbar).
I've made a custom component that looks basically
like "mx:HBox->mx:Button mx:Box mx:Button" where the buttons and box are children of the hbox.
How do I offer the user access to the box (say its dataProvider and itemRenderer) through my custom component?
So they just need to write 'local:MyCustomComponent dataProvider="rar" itemRenderer="rar"/>' and my box inside that component can use it?
I've been looking for some examples on creating a custom statusbar for an AIR application, but haven't found anything really useful. That was until I started looking around in the Tour de Flex AIR app for an example, and it was right there (part of the app itself). Would anyone have some suggestions on replicating this statusbar. The trouble I'm having is that I cannot seem to get the value of a dynamic variable to display. I'm attempting to display the current user.
View 2 RepliesI have a Flex List which is databound to a Array. My problem is that when I reorder the List using the built in dragMoveEnabled, the values are reset to the original values.I assume I need to somehow do a two-way databinding but I am not sure how.
<mx:List width="100%" top="20" id="uiItemList" dragMoveEnabled="true" bottom="0"
dragEnabled="true" dropEnabled="true"
dataProvider="{listArray}" >
<mx:itemRenderer>

For my AIR based application I am trying to create a custom component based on canvas which has an image (as shown below).
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" width="100" height="100" cornerRadius="5" borderStyle="solid" borderThickness="2" dropShadowEnabled="true" borderColor="#EDEDE8" dropShadowColor="#dddddd" shadowDistance="5" shadowDirection="center">

As a work around, I am trying to add an creationComplete listener to the canvas in my custom component and used to give titleImage.source = this.path . keep changing the image or when the path of the image fetched using some async call.
while creating custom item renderers which interfaces we need to implement?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a custom component which displays a red rectangle in the middle with the following Flex Mobile project for Android (in Flash Builder 4.5 Burrito) -
MyComp.mxml (has no errors):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<components:MobileApplication
xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
[code].....
even though I have added c:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Flash Builder Burritosdks4.5.0frameworkslibsmxmx.swc to Flex Build Path (by clicking "Add SWC" button in the project properties dialog).
PS: Power Stackoverflow-users, consider adding a tag for Android-AIR or Flex-Hero or maybe Flex-Mobile
I have a XML and it has an attribute option or combo box, parsing that i need to create components in my flex dynamically. Viatropos has given a wonderful code, but i am not able to execute it... can anyone produce it.
View 2 RepliesI have some custom components, that derived from UIComponent. I overloaded the updateDisplayList so they have custom look. I've created a layouter that lays out these custom components, but to place them correctly, I have to know the custom componets width, height. They are created dynamically. After all of them created (creationCompleted event fired for every), i try to laying out them, but width/height property is still 0. I am also tried to add them to a canvas, before the layout process.
how to create custom UIComponent that placed dynamically, and get to know the width and height of it.
With the use of the mx_internal namespace I can set width and height (using the internal $width and $height fields), and it looks like it is working. But not so clean/good solution.
I need to load all images that I have used in my project externally without embedding. The images are present either in skins or as icons for items in trees. I came across the IconUtility class here I was able to modify it and use it for trees but the problem is we cannot use iconutility for the same component to set 2 different skins (like for a button - upskin downskin). I was not able to think of a workaround with iconutility. Is it possible to simulate embed and create a class dynamically and return the class at runtime?
View 2 Repliesi'm loading several sound files, and want to error check each load. however, instead programming each one with their own complete/error functions, i would like them to all use the same complete/error handler functions.
a successfully loaded sound should create a new sound channel variable, while an unsuccessfully loaded sound will produce a simple trace with the name of the sound that failed to load. however, in order to do this, i need to dynamically create variables, which i haven't yet figured out how to do.
here's my code for my complete and error functions:
function soundLoadedOK(e:Event):void
{
//EX: Sound named "explosion" will create Sound Channel named "explosionChannel"
var String(e.currentTarget.name + "Channel"):SoundChannel = new SoundChannel();

Isn't there some way to re-write the following code, such that I don't need a gigantic switch statement with every conceivable type? Also, if I can replace the switch statement with some way to dynamically create new controls, then I can make the code smaller, more direct, and don't have to anticipate the possibility of custom control types.Before:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="vertical">

I'm trying to create a dynamicly named object.
something like
private var myVar:String = "dynamicName";
private var [myVar+"staticName"]:Object = new Object;
but what i wrote above dosn't work for some reason.
1) Using datefield as item renderer in flex.I am dynamically creating datagrid and its columns. like
dataGridColumn=new DataGridColumn();
dataGridColumn.dataField="invoiceDTO.invoiceDate";// I read this value from XML
dataGridColumn.editorDataField="selectedDate";
dataGridColumn.itemRenderer=new ClassFactory(DateFieldRenderer);
dataGridColumn.rendererIsEditor=true;
But when UI is generated i get the error invoiceDTO.invoiceDate not found on the TestDTO
//Test DTO
public class TestDTO
{
public var invoiceDTO:InvoiceDTO;
}
My objective is my dataField should be binded with datafield inside the datagrid.How can i do it in actionscript
2) I need to present combobox as item renderer. (same like case 1). But how can i assign dataprovider in the combobox which is present inside the datagrid.
I'm having trouble with the constructor for a custom Class tied to a library MovieClip.
Say I have a MovieClip in my library named Circle, which is tied to the class com.shapes.Circle . I want the Circle class contstructor to take 2 arguments, xScale and yScale:
public function Circle(xScale:Number, yScale:Number) { }
However, if I try to call that from in code, for example Circle ball = new Circle(3.14,2.0); , I always get an "Incorrect number of arguments. Expected 0" error.
Is it possible to have a custom class tied to a MovieClip that can take arguments, or does Flash not allow this? I'd asked about this before and thought I figured it out, but from looking at it now I apparently hadn't figured it out and had resorted to a sloppy workaround; I'm hoping to fix it now.
I need a List that resizes to exactly fit its content, unless that height exceeds its (dynamically sized) parent container. My requirements are as follows:
The component extends List, or at least acts similarly. variableRowHeight and wordWrap both equal to true. The height of the list cannot be less than minHeight (roughly 32px for scrollbar arrows). The height of the list cannot be greater than the height of the parent container .
Note that the parent container can be resized dynamically.
The height of the list should be updated as the size of both the contents and parent container changes.
Live updating would be preferable but not necessary.
There should be no scrollbars if the content height is less than the parent container height (sounds obvious, but I've had trouble with this too).
The trouble is that with variableRowHeight and wordWrap, it's very hard to know the size of the content at any given time. If the parent container's width is reduced, a line wrap may occur in the list which will change the height of the content. I know I can measure the height of the list content using measureHeightOfItems() + viewMetrics.top + viewMetrics.bottom, but when should I calculate that? What events should I listen for? And the thing I've had the most trouble with - when should I calculate it to set the size initially (i.e. just as the content has finished populating)?
I've got a simple class:
package somepackage
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;
public class NewMc extends MovieClip{ public var myVar:String = "something";}}
And there is a question now: how can I assign a "real" MovieClip object to my created-class object?
I mean: var realMc:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
[Code]...
I'm having a problem with customized Actionscript objects not recognizing thier own constructor. This is the pertinant part of my script:
ActionScript Code:
//File: Line.as
class Line extends Object{
public function Line(args){
[Code].....
Clearly, the variable "testLine", is one of my custom "Line" objects. Clearly, it has been made with the "Line" constructor. So why won't flash acknowledge this?
Can I define a custom class to be an AsBroadcaster in the classes constructor?
Code:
class myClass{
function myClass(){
AsBroadcaster.initialize(this);
}
}
And if so will that give me the ability to addListeners to an instance of that class?
The reason I want this approach is because I want to broadcast events from inside one of the custom classes methods and I want a textField on the stage to be listening for that broadcast message.
