i need an advanced datagrid to show a tree structure like so

but i want to achieve this dynamicall with arrays, objects, or arraycollection (as applicable).I need to loop through each string path using string methods which isnt a problem but how do i create "DYNAMIC" (depth) children?

Oct 27, 2009I'm new to Flex and am using TileList bound to an ArrayCollection. The array collection is empty at load time, and then updates with the results from am HTTPService call. The problem is that the item renderers aren't being rendered as expected, I'm guessing because there was no data when they were first rendered at load time. Here's simplified example:

Name : String
Categories : Array ["A","x or y or z","C"]
Categories array will have maximum 3 items , out of that three items the second item can have 3 different values either X or Y or Z. My result data looks like here

anyone please explain how to sort this type of data in a way showing all "x" first , "y" next and "z" at the last and vice a versa.

I cycle both the array and if I found a match I remove the items from both of the array (and don't increase the loop value so the for cycle progress in a correct way).I was wondering if (and i'm sure there is) there is a better (and less CPU consuming) way to do it...

Jul 15, 2009I'm making an activity that involves measuring the depth of a fictitious river at various points. I have an array containing those depths at the various points and a slider for traversing through the depths and outputting to a textfield.
As the user moves the slider up and down, they can see the depth of the river at that point and plot it onto a graph. What I would like to do is be able to figure out the depths inbetween the explicitly defined values.

Arraycollection:- [0] - name: abc
[1] - name: hello
[2] - name: hello1
[3] - name:hai
after filtering the arraycollection as 'hell' , the array collection is displaying like the below:

Can i know the reason why the index got changed after filter it?
* no server side code for filtering. it is only flex side filtering.

Feb 4, 2011i have a problem using the itemRenderer functionality. When using an ArrayCollection the visible Data in the DataGrid using the itemRenderer will be rendered just fine. But if i start scrolling the entries are repeating in the cells using the renderer. The cells are not filled with date according to the id. What mistake i'm doing here.

According to the Zend_AMF wiki, sending an arrayCollection over directly will force Zend_AMF to cast the arrayCollection as an object which is no good. I'd rather have an array of my models. I assume the best way would be to convert the arrayCollection to an array in flex and then send it over. Is this true, and if so how would I do that in Flex 3? If you have a better recommendation,
