Tricky part here is, i will not know how many values/lables user will enter, so it has to dynamically pick the array's.
Is there any built in functionality to convert an ArrayCollection to a jagged string array? I have an Arraycollection of objectproxies that I get from a SOAP webservice (asp.net datatable) that I modify and want to send back.

Is it possible to convert an XML string generated by a javascript return, into an ArrayCollection? I have looked into SimpleXMLEncoder as a possible solution, but that seems to deal more with a file than a string. My XML tree is pretty detailed so I need something to handle multilayer XML nodes.

i'll have different number of columns in my dataGrid. DataGrid is privided from arrayCollection. I'm trying to add items to array collection using dynamic string 'x', like this:

but i want to achieve this dynamicall with arrays, objects, or arraycollection (as applicable).I need to loop through each string path using string methods which isnt a problem but how do i create "DYNAMIC" (depth) children?

i have a collection looking like this :arr.getItemAt(0).closet.clothes[0].color. the arr is an ArrayCollection data type..the clothes is an Array data type..when i try to bind this to an mxml component , i get a warning :"Data binding will not be able to detect changes when using square bracket([]) operator. I'm new to Flex and am using TileList bound to an ArrayCollection. The array collection is empty at load time, and then updates with the results from am HTTPService call. The problem is that the item renderers aren't being rendered as expected, I'm guessing because there was no data when they were first rendered at load time. Here's simplified example:

I have a advanced datagrid and populating some data by using arraycollection. And i am filtering the arraycollection, the arraycollection index got changed.
Arraycollection:- [0] - name: abc
[1] - name: hello
[2] - name: hello1
[3] - name:hai
after filtering the arraycollection as 'hell' , the array collection is displaying like the below:
Arraycollection:-
[0] - name: hello1
[1] - name: hello
Can i know the reason why the index got changed after filter it?

I have a game where i add some cartoonish ants, that when they are clicked, they need to be removed from stage. There are 4 differend kinds of ants, so im doing a Math.random for picking which one to add. (ant 1+2+3 have 50% chance to spawn and 4th 50%)

I have a timer doing 10 tick, and i reset the timer to make neverending. Then i have a math random and if sentences adding mc' to the stage with movement from Tweener, and event listeners for clicks. But i cant figure out how to remove them when clicked. I have done alot of failed tries right inside the click_candy_anty function. I've left them commented out.

View 4 RepliesI have a PHP socket server that serves an AS3 client. Currently the server is working correctly and clients are able to message each other. The issue is that I need to send an array of all the players from the PHP client list to the newly connected flash client. Below is the code that receives the socket data. When the user first connects the socket sends a string list of all the clients. I need to have access to the raw array form without workarounds.

The issue is that although the above does send the user something, it appears to be just a string that says "Array". I have tried xml[0] to see if I can access the array, trace statements and .length with no luck. Is there any way to pull the PHP array out of the XML socket?

I am trying to make a dynamic textfield say "the current question" + "Sorry, the correct answer is..." + "the second answer in the first string of answers in the array".
I think I am pretty close, but there is an error in the syntax.

View 1 RepliesI have a project which has loads of FLA's with embedded textfields on the timelines. We now need to localize this project into Arabic, with right-to-left text (pulled in from XML) - my understanding is that this is only possible with TLF textfields.
It's going to be a huge task to manually convert all these texfields to TLF. Is there a way to programmatically set a normal textfield to be a TLF textfield?
