I'm writing my own class to manage a skin for an FLVPlayback component. It works 90% of the time, but sometimes the state get really messed up. Specifically, the video is playing, meaning I can see it play and the VideoEvent.PLAYHEAD_UPDATE event is firing, but when I poll the FLVPlayback component about its playing property, it returns false. Instead the buffering state is set to true.I assume this may be because 'buffering' is kind of a subset of 'playing', but I cannot confirm this in the documentation. I guess another way to ask this question is, "Does the FLVPlayback component ever buffer while it is in a stopped state?"
I have an app that I am currently using a viewstack to display each page and I am wondering is this the right way to go, or should I use different states (or something else).
The site is powered by a menu bar with the top level items of Home, Tools, Support. Underneath the Tools menu is a submenu with Tool1, Tool2, Tool3. Currently when the user clicks on any of the tools in the Tool submenu I bring up a child container from the viewstack (each child is actually in a separete component).
I've been tasked with building an interactive map of all the states in the US and just wondering what the best way is to go about this? I know I could build this fairly easily in Flash but one of the requirements is for it to work on an iPhone so obviously that rules Flash out!
Requirements: Must work across all browsers and handheld devices. Must be updatable via Wordpress. Must include a small info box that pops up when each state is hovered. The look of the map will be designed by us (we'd want complete control of this as we're graphic designers!) so this also rules out a custom Google map.
I've done a search on here and found two examples, the first is exactly the kind of thing we want but is done in flash - example I don't think I'll be able to create popup bubbles when hovering over each state. An example I like is - Transmit's feature section. How was this built and how could I recreate something like that?
In my flex project i used one option like Link button . If i like it will be open new page contain more information and components . Which container is suitable one ? Where is used viewstack and stages ?
While in Design mode in Flash Builder 4 (gumbo, beta 2), is it possible to edit multiple states at once? In the "states" window, it would seem like I should be able to shift-select multiple states so changes made will affect all the selected states, and if all are selected it will not add the state selector to the property in the mxml tag. No?
I have a flash header at the top of an HTML page. Inside the flash header resides the navigation with mouse over buttons. Home | Services | FAQ | Contact Us When a person is on the Home page, I wish for that button to be in the mouse over state, which is 'active' state. The user then goes to the Services page, and there too, when the user gets to this html page I wish for this to go active. And so on and so on. How do I do this without making 4 different flash files? Isn't there a way I can control the movie clip's or button's states from the html page?? I believe I've seen this before but cannot for the life of me find a tutorial.
I'm starting to learn actionscript 3 programming and am in the process of trying to create a simple game but am having trouble getting flash to call up various movieclip states.I have a movieclip called "Player" and inside that movieclip, I have Player_Stand,Player_Hit, and Player_Walk...
While I can get the master movieclip to move, I can't get it to play the embedded movieclips when I change states. I tried a more advanced method that did work where you stick all of the animations in one movieclip and then manually tell flash to advance each frame using gotoAndStop in a loop, but it would be easier to just have seperate movieclips that I could just call from a master movieclip file. I've tried various methods to solve this including having all of the movieclips on screen and then changing their visibility but that didn't work either.
I have attached a video on a frame of my website in Flash. When I preview the movie the film plays as it should.But when I export the Fla. as a Swf. file it then doesn't have the movie there anymore?It does show this error:

I'm a little unclear as to how "states" work in Flex and Flash Bilder 4. Are states like "frames" in Flash Pro, or am I getting them wrong? How would I show difference "screens" to a user? (login, admin panel - settings, main menu)I take it that I need to use states, but I haven't figured out how to do so. Should I be using Actionscript somewhere, something else?
I have a little Flash 8 FLVPlayback-based video player, designed to read a list of video URLs (pointing to a demo version of FMS 3.5) from XML. The player works the first couple of times you select a video but then stops displaying anything when you select more videos. The seek bar seems to move but there is not picture or sound. Alright, so I'm playing several different videos at different sizes with the FLVPlayback component and something odd is happening that I don't remember happening before...Now, when I switch from video to video, the FLVPlayback physically resizes to match the height of the video... I don't remember this happening before. Before, the FLVPlayback would just vertical center the video no matter what size the height of the video is.

I have a video in flash in the size of 19 MB (5 minutes) and I want the user to see what that has been loaded so far, or even get an indication of what has been loaded - so he won't be stuck in a blank screen until the video loads. The quality of the video is important so I won't resize it - but how can I: stream it so the user can see what that has been loaded so far give him an indication of how long he will need to wait until it loads. I'm using the default flv player component in Flash cs4. I want my video to start on page load, but I would like it to be muted in the beginning, so the visitors can chose to unmute it if they want.
I tried to google and found a number of solutions which doesn't work for me(or rather I don't know how to make it work).

I' making a flash file with AS2 in Flash CS3. I put a FlVPlayback in stage and let it load a couple of FLV files from my local HDD and playing continuously. I use "addEventListener" to check the current running flash movie is completed. After complete event occur, I load another flv movie to paly again.Here, I noticed that memory usage is increasing every time a new flv file is loaded and played. I heard "addEventListener" in CS3 is causing the memory leak and not being detected by GC. [code]
I want to know if it is possible to get the decoded frames from FLVPlayback, or if it is known another alternative to access the decoded frames from a flash player. What I want to do is to manipulate the decoded frames before they get rendered on screen. The video source could be an RTMP stream or a FLV (F4V) file.
I have developed a video player using Flash 8 Professional and the FLVPlayback component. Recently I have been testing a few 720p .mov files converted to FLV by FFMPEG running on an encoding server. I am noticing that these files do not play back in my video player. It appears that they do not have any audio attached to them but when I play them in Adobe Media Player the audio is there.
Is this due to the FLVPlayback component in Flash 8 not supporting HD videos? When I test locally the video picture plays with no sound but when I run in a browser the video freezes and does not play. The progress bar appears to move as if the video is playing however.
Everything I've tried so far with a FLVPlayback component to seemlessly loop a progressively-downloaded 15 second video has failed. There's always a split-second pause when it's time to loop. For the scenario, embedding video in a flash project is not an option, and the split-second pause is unacceptable. I've tried setting autorewind to true and handling autorewind event fired by FLVplayback. I've tried watching the playhead of the flvplayer for when It gets upwards of 99.5 percent done and seeking to 0. My latest solution involves having two VideoPlayer instances with the same source behind the FLVPlayback component and toggling between them when it's time to loop, and there is still a seem between the end and beginning. I've tested the video in quicktime to make sure it's not an artifact of the video.
We have a huge project written in AS2 with the old FLVPlayback component which was responsible for progressive download playback of FLVs. I'd like to support MP4 files (which is now supported in Flash 9 and up with the updated FLVPlayback) but would like to not have to rewrite all of the project.I've seen in various posts on SO surmised that one could possibly use CS4 to open the AS2 project, replace the FLVPlayback component with newer one and build.
I'm trying to insert a player on a Facebook Page tab with FBML with fb:swf. I have the following:[code]I can see the video, no problem. It plays inside a FLVPlayback component, which uses a skin (referred by /player/skinName.swf, I tried also the absolute path here). This player works perfectly everywhere else (even on an iframe Facebook application, where it's not inserted using the fb:swf tag, but with object, of course). However, I can't see the skin on the Page tab.
I am using FLVPlayback Component in Flash AS3 to play an F4V video hosted on a different server. I want it to start playing as soon as possible, but the video won't start playing until the F4V is completely downloaded (I checked with Firebug). I tried fooling around with the component's bufferTime parameter, but it didn't seem to make a difference. For what it's worth, the SWF is being embedded in a Facebook profile using the FBML tag fb:swf, although I can't see how that would make a difference here.
I'm using a FLvPlayBack component and I have the skin setting set to none. I've dragged a PlayPauseButton from my library to my stage in a movieclip. The button pauses and plays the video, but now what i want to do is mimic the "autohide" feature in a normal skin.how i might accomplish this?
I'm totally at a loss as to how to detect if my instance of FLVPlayback component has been handed a source that either doesn't exist or it can't play for one reason or another.
my issue is with flash FLVplakback control with a seekBar attached to it. example can be found here. for some unknown reason when i try to rewind using the seekbar, it produces a loud noise at the start. whereas if i let it play out the entire movie (mp4) and then play again using the play button it does not produce such noise. in case i rewind using the seebBar after playback has completed even then it does not produce the noise.
I hope I won't sound like an idiot, but this is my problem - I imported an SWF video file, it's an instance of FLVPlayback, named the instance 'video'. I need to invoke some method when the video playback is completed. So the question is - how can I do something when FLVPlayback ends? Using Flash CS 5.5, actionscript

I'm trying to provide a seekbar for a FLVPlayback. I have MovieClips (Graphics) for the base bar, fill bar and thumb. How can I attach these MovieClips to the FLVPlayback using AS3 code? Do I have to create a skin, if so then how? I'm using the Flash CS4 (Not Flex).
I work with Flash all day at work, and I've made a million buttons. But today, I decided to make a few at home for my personal website. I made a rectangle, turned it into a button symbol, and made keyframes on each state. When I tested it, it didn't work. If I go to Control -> enable simple buttons, it works just fine, but either testing it with ctrl-enter or opening up the SWF gives me a dead button with only the up state.
I uploaded the fla. How could something so simple not work?
It was created in flash CS4, but I saved it down to CS3/Flash player 9 for the sake of compatibility.
