I have a Flex Mobile Application that requires users to input data into a form application.When a user hits a certain TextInput to enter information (Phone Number for example) I would like the keyboard that pops up to automatically change to numbers for the user to select, rather then starting at the main qwerty keyboard.

View 2 RepliesI have a Pure AS3 mobile project that I'm developing in Flex 4.5, and deploying on both Android and iOS.I have a TLF textfield that is set to editable, and when I touch on it on Android the soft keyboard shows up as expected, without me having to explicitly tell it to show up.
BUT on iOS, when I touch on it, I get the text field's focus event firing, but the soft keyboard doesn't show up. Anyone know how to make this appear, so the user can enter in text? it is possible to enter text in a pure AS3 mobile app on iOS.
I'm trying to prevent keyboard show when I click Textinput field on my device. I use Textinput only to show some text and for click event (to push a view).
View 2 RepliesI'm using Flex 4.5.1 with AIR 2.7 (and Flash Builder 4.5.1) to build an app for the Blackberry Playbook.
The app has a large textarea that needs to be resized when the soft keyboard shows up. I am able to hook into the soft keyboard events and do things there.
Now, I want to resize the textarea to fit the remaining part of the screen when the keyboard shows up. I know the current and destination size and want to use a smooth animation to show the textarea resizing. (I can't already set the height and can see the textarea being correctly resized in the keyboard_activating event - but I want to do it through an animation). I've tried using the Animate class, the spark.effects.Move class and none of them seem to work in this case. They seem to run the animation but the screen does not get refreshed!

I have a calculator that I'm loading as an swf into my project, and I have a small app that is coded in the exercise that the user can enter numbers. Here's the thing, when I punch in numbers into my coded app, the numbers appear on the calculator (in the display). So I figure that when I hit a keyboard key, it goes to both aspects. I wish it'd only do the one present on the screen. So I have a few ways of thinking. Go into the code of the seperate calculator app and display keyboard input. Or find a way to only apply keystrokes to whatever is on the screen.

I have a grails application using jquery mobile. I am hoping to find some way to access the camera on the devices. I thought about using flash to grab the webcam but that obviously wont work on Apple devices. Does anyone know of a way to do it and keep it all browser based? I have a flex mobile application that I am working on that I am having issues with selecting an image from roll/taking a picture. My application is not tabbed, however one part of it contains a Tabbed View Navigator with tabs across the bottom. Within one of those tabs, I have the ability to upload an image to a webservice that I have created. However, when I select an image or take the picture, it pops back out to the initial splash screen and the application restarts. If I use the component standalone (outside of the tabbed view navigator) it selects the image and uploads without any problem.

im completely lost on how to do a simple multiline label. The docs say that labels are best used as single lined elements, but that alludes to it being able to do multiline if necessary. Anyone have any clarification on the subject?

At first, i was just going to use the .mxml applications from my other project file in flex, but they're for desktop apps and running on Flex 3.6, and Mobile apps can't be built on less than 4.5 :P
so, i figured i'd export the first project to a .swf, and load it in my mobile application, but nothing i do will get it to show up. anyone know a solution?

Is it possible, to package Flex mobile application (built in Flash Builder 4.6) also for Symbian OS? Flash builder only offers iOS, Android and Blackberry platform packaging. Can a Flex application that was designed for use on a PC be run on an iPad, iPhone, or Android-based mobile device? There is so much (mis)information out there on various tech sites that suggest Flash-based technologies simply won't run on iOS or other mobile platforms. Why is this? Perhaps they mean to say that Flex won't run "out of the box" and requires a plugin? Or do they mean it won't run at all?
Every time I think I've reached a definitive conclusion, some post on SlashDot or CNET directly contradicts it. So what's the scoop? I am trying to find out how to continue to receive keyboard input to my app when the app is not focused. For example, if I dock my app to the system tray, is there a way to continue to receive keyboard input to be fed to the app?
