Apparently, it is not possible to have a chart with several independant horizontal axis. What I am trying to achieve is :
Display a bar chart, organized by any category
Overlay a line (actually a single horizontal line) on top of it (to display some sort of threshold)
I tried doing the following :

This is the closest to what I want, except that the line does not start span all the graphs vertically (it is drawn only between the two columns of my bar chart). Is it possible to define a completely independant horizontal axis? I also tried drawing directly on the canvas, but the canvas.lineTo() method only works in "data" coordinate; I would need something that works in "chart/canvas/absolute/whatever" coordinates.
I want to have a different coloured stroke (outline) used on the pie wedge under the mouse from the outline used on the other wedges.
The PieSeriesItem referenced by the mouseover event doesn't have a stroke parameter, and it looks like it is an all or nothing deal with the outline colour on the whole pie.
Is there any way of specifying the stroke parameter on a specific wedge?
Is there a way to draw a line on a graph (or at least get the position) on specific date?
I have a graph where X is Date data, I want to draw a line with a text on each Year and each 3 months as reference, not part of the graph series.

I've done a lot of C# programming with both Winforms and WPF. I'm working on a Flex/Air app now for cross platform support. But this is my first flex project, so I'm learning as I go. I've got a window that I want to popup, that the user will fill out a form, then hit OK or CANCEL. I set it up the same way I would've in C#, but it doesn't work, and I can't really see a way to make it do what I want.

i'm using the centered pop up window script from: [URL]. i have multiple buttons in my flash movie which open screenshot html pages in external browser windows. the script works fine except when a popup window stays open. the rest of the buttons don't open/replace past that one popup. i tried changing the window name in the onRelease script to screen1, screen2, etc for each button, but that didn't work.

I put a filled Shape with a blur on it but doesn't look the same. I am assuming the blur effect is applied on the stage, but this would also blur the popup window. I also want several layers of modal+popup like "do you want to delete this?" and pressing yes => "are you sure?" Kind of thing.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to figure out how to open a pop up window in my Air application, in a secondary Window, instead of the main application window.I am using the ReusableFX components, which include a custom DataGrid with filtering and other capabilities. The filtering feature displays a pop up window via PopUpManager when you click on the top of a column in the grid.

The problem is that the pop up window opens in the main application - I am assuming because of the 'topLevelApplication' reference.So, I need a way to open this window in the current Air "s:Window". I am assuming I need a way to walk up : this.parent.parent or this.owner.owner - though I have tried that and it did not seem to work (it said null reference).OR, is there a way to get the current top most window / component (NOT the main application / window)?
Update:I decided to create a new project for the component, and add in the Air libraries. Now I am able to access the "NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow" call. That gives me the correct Air window. However, it does not seem to be working:
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow as DisplayObject);
My popup does not appear. I am assuming because "activeWindow" is not actually a DisplayObject?(so how do I get the DisplayObject if that's the case?)
Go to [URL]. Click on "The Photos". It will pop up in a fullscreen window. Try resizing the window and you'll notice that the background is vector and it looks like the scale mode is set to "showAll". BUT, the photos look like they have a separate scale mode set to "noScale". They don't resize.
View 2 RepliesI've been working for several months on a project that generates dynamic data charts. Suddenly the project had a problem-- the charts will not draw properly on screen. The only way to make the colums of the chart appear is to move the mouse into the area where the charts should exist: As I move the mouse accross the area, the chart columns appear as if by magic! However, if I move a scroll bar which controls the display area, the chart columns disappear again. I've tried this on 2 different computers and gone back and tested it on several earlier versions of the project, and they all fail At this point, the only factor that I have not tried to control for is the Flash Player which I recently updated.

I'm trying to prevent a default chart item roll over highlight in a Spark column chart.If you look at any of the chart examples on this page , when you roll over any of the chart series items, they turn a darkened shade of their original colour. This is what I want to prevent.
So far I have had no luck with using the itemRollOverColor property, as this only allows you to set it to one specific colour for the whole chart (my app has several different coloured series on the chart at once). Also, trying to leverage the itemRollOver event (with preventDefault() etc) hasn't worked either.
I'm trying to make chart which is combination of bar and line chart using Flex Charting API . Here x axis would be common and y axis would be different. note that y axis got different range of value one is % and other is amount. Any one got idea how to make this chart. Here line chart would be staked on top of bar chart . The line chart and never over laid or drawn on top of bar chart.

I'm new to Flex, I've tried to do this using a CartesianDataCanvas inside backgroundElements in mxml, then using ActionScript to draw lines on the data canvas using moveTo(x1,y1) and lineTo(x2,y2), which draws a line between (x1,y1) and (x2,y2).
The problem with the above method is the tick mark length is a function of the chart area (which depends on the browser window size).
What I need is a method that:
(1) starts at a data coordinate (e.g. moveTo(x1,y1) works fine for this)
(2) draws a line to a screen coordinate (e.g. lineTo(x_screen, y_screen) where x_screen and y_screen are screen coordinates).
Is there anything that can accomplish this in Flex/AS3?
Alternatively, could I use screen coordinates for both steps above? If so, how to convert between screen and data coordinates? For example, is the upper right corner of the screen always a fixed data coordinate that I could reference is creating such a conversion?
Alternatively, could I save a five-pixel line in Illustrator and simply paste that image in the chart somehow? If so, how to paste it exactly at a data coordinate?
I have a question for you....I'm not able di draw a pie chart dynamically. I have a datagrid with different types of columns, like I have checkboxes, combo boxes and text Inputs as the column types. Now I want one of the column type to a link, with the label "view". All the rows in that column are link with the same label "View" and on clicking it, I want a Pop up window to be opened?

I didn't know how to bring a link in the datagrid. So used the Text control to display the "View" label. Now If I click this item, "View" in the datagrid, I want the Pop up function, i.e.,defectCommentsPopUp() to be called.
I want to draw stock price in real time as a candle graph. I get open flash chart from someone and it looks good at drawing. I don't know how to update the candle graph in real time (using Ajax?), and is it a good way? I use Python a lot. But I cannot find tools as easily to use as OFC.
