I have an array in which the elements have like ID value "imm1", "imm2", "imm3"..."imm10"
the problem is that the sortOn method consider "imm10" lower than "imm2" because it consider 1 and 0 separatly. Then I tryed to write[url]...
but it don't apply the order correctly and I don't know why... maybe because my ID propriety have an alphanumeric value?[code]...
So far I only find the way to publish camera video as stream: attachCamera()

I have an array which holds objects. The objects have properties called cat and title. The cat property can hold values like:
Cat 1
Cat 2
Cat 3
And the title property can hold values:
Title 1
Title 2
Title 3
So that you wind up with something that looks like
Cat 1
Title 1
Cat 1
Title 2
Cat 2
Title 3
etc.
Now, I want to sort these, but we all know that Array.sortOn(["cat", "title"]) will produce results like:
Cat 1
Cat 10
Cat 11
Cat 2
Cat 3
What's the most efficient method of sorting these properly (so the number component sorts like a number and not like a string)? I can request users pad their entries (yes, other people will be entering this data), but that's both a little bit ugly and not very user friendly.
I work on AS3 one week, and then take a break for a few weeks, then work on it a day, take a break, etc.. So I forget some of the basics, and need refreshers. I think I need to stop taking breaks.
Problem: I push multiple strings into an array, and some of the strings are the same.

I want to find out which element positions "Snivvle" hogs up. We can see that it would be using element 0 and 2, and if we do an "indexOf" we would only get to see element 0, and doing a "lastIndexOf" we would only see element 2. How do I find out ALL of the element positions "Snivvle" is located in, so that it returns: element 0, element 2.

Normally, I'd just like to sort the array alphabetically using the name field, which is easy enough using the following code. However, I'd like to create a radio button called 'loadedRadioButton' and when it's click on, I'd like to sort the array on the loaded value first(any items with loaded=true should be at the top, sorted alphabetically), then afterwards, any other items with loaded=false, sorted alphabetically should follow afterwards, how can I do it?

I want the top 3 voted items to be displayed in different colors, so i have a 2nd Array - sortArray.

I have an array of colors that i want to sort from light to dark. currently I am reading them in as uints and sorting the array decending using colors.sort(Array.DESCENDING); It almost works the way I want it to but there are always a couple of dark colors mixed in with lighter ones( black in a range of yellows for example). I'm trying to have 6 numbers randomly grabbed from the list, so I made a function to find a random number between a given "Low" and "High" numbers, then another to continuously add 1 if it's already one of the other numbers(I'm pretty sure the method of that part, I could have taken a short cut.)Where it says to trace the two numbers near the top of the find5RandomNumbers function, they trace 29 and 40. But near the bottom where it's told to trace all 6 items, they come back as "NaN."[code]

but it didn't work. I guess length is not a property of each array element.
By the way, the array is already large (270,000 elements) - so I need the sort to work very fast, and I don't want to be adding anything else into the array.

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to build a simple slideshow in AS3, what I have so far is I load all my images into an array and place them on the stage in order at index 0 so the first image in the array comes out on top, in terms of stacking. As the slideshow plays it takes the top image off the stack and sends it to the back. This works fine. Where I'm having problem is if the user uses the thumbnail interface to skip ahead or backwards in by multiple images, how to tell my 'stack' of images the new order and sort them the right way.

I forgot to mention that, i've done it by spliting the date entry to subentries and sort the array according to them and it can be also be done by creating a new array by fetching entries from the prototype.. but i wanted to see if there is a more "proffesional" way to do this.
