I am creating a Datagrid in AS3, and adding a sort function to a column. However, this sort function does never get called. Any ideas?

The above are my doubts for sorting a datagrid and a filter function for datagrid.
I have a column with 4 fields named : a> Main, b> Forward c> Back d> Link, if I use pre-defined sorting of datagrid with the column names which will be alphabetically, then the order is c>Back b>Forward d> Link a> Main. But, I do not want to sort based on the alphabets. I prefer to sort by names of the column fields. i.e. somehow give priority to each individual column field names. Like pre-define my own order.

I have several datagrids with changing columns. For the text fields the datagrid's sort function neems to be making a case sensitive compare. eg. the following list sorted would look like this apples strawberries Autos Autos should be with apples but since the capital A is counted differently all capital letters come after. I've found a lot of information on setting a CASEINSENSITIVE flag, but I can't figure out where to do this. The best solution would be one where I can override the default behavior to be case insensitive for all my datagrids and all my compare functions.

View 1 RepliesI'm creating a table that displays information from a MySQL database, I'm using foreignkeys all over the place to cross-reference data.
Basically I have a datagrid with a column named 'system.' The system is an int that represents the id of an object in another table. I've used lableFunction to cross-reference the two and rename the column. But now sorting doesn't work, I understand that you have to create a custom sorting function. I have tried cross-referencing the two tables again, but that takes ~30sec to sort 1200 rows. Now I'm just clueless as to what I should try next.
Is there any way to access the columns field label inside the sort function?

I have a flex datagrid. it is bound to an array collection. if the user sorts on column X it works fine. then, if the user causes the array collection to change, the datagrid forgets that it was sorted on column X.what do I need to do to preserve this sort preference so that the new array data will appear sorted by column X?

But after that, if data values are changed in any row of datagrid, sorting is applied automatically. How to prevent from this behaviour? i.e. sorting should only be applied if user clicks on any header of datagrid and sorting should not be applied when user modifies data in grid.

When I run the application a scrollbar shows up in the DataGrid indicating to me that it has data but there is nothing in the DataGrid. When I scroll items start showing up. When I Debugged it I noticed that the labelFunction was never being called until I started scrolling. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Let's say the calling program calls the function, which returns the variables into data_set1 (where data_set1 depends on input variables arg1, arg2, arg3) using:
var data_set1:PER = function_name(arg1, arg2, arg3);
The calling program does some stuff, then calls the function again, but returns the variables into a new variable name, data_set2:
var data_set2:PER = function_name(arg4, arg5, arg6);
My intention is that data_set1 and data_set2 are different (e.g. not linked together).
My question is, given that arrays are passed by reference, will data_set1 be modified to agree with data_set2 upon the 2nd function call? Why or why not?

Anyways, it also needs a custom sorting function. So I have written the sorting function like so:

Whenever I try to sort the column, I get the error "Error: Find criteria must contain at least one sort field value."
When I debug and step through each step, I see that the first few times, the function is being called correctly, but towards the end, this error occurs.
I've been banging my head against the wall with this one. I have the following set function in Flex. [code]If I set the periodChangeAmount to -1 or 1 the set method gets fired. If I set it to zero it doesn't get fired. What's the deal? Does anyone know why it wouldn't get called when setting it to zero. If I change the object type to a number or even an object it still doesn't work as expected.

This is to ensure that a certain event that I am defining can only be dispatched by one specified class. My thinking is to check the caller of the constructor somehow, and throw an error if it is not of the correct type.
I have a datagrid that uses a custom cellrenderer class to allow me to use a combobox. I have an invisible column that holds the value returned by the cellrenderer when the combobox value is changed. BUT sorting is wonky. Since what really lives in the combobox column individual cells is an object, it never really sorts properly. Is there a way to fire a sorting event to the column that holds the real value?

View 1 RepliesSo, I'm trying to load resources, add them to a dictionary, and have a drawing method search through that dictionary and draw based on certain predicates. I have a function that iterates through an Vector of Strings, calling on an instance of Loader to load them instantiated as a URLRequest.

So the issue is: Only the first images in my Vector are drawing. Upon further inspection, I found that the completeHandler was only being called once (I put a trace in the complete handler to check). However, the Loader is invoking load everytime the loop iterates. I tried instantiating separate loaders for each resource, just to see if it would work, but I had no luck with that. Do I need to make separate loaders and event handlers? Or am I just not using Loader correctly?

The problem over here is in the nextSong() function. I am unable to preserve the value of currentIndex. Although I am incrementing currentIndex every time the function is called, but the value remains unchanged.
I have a TabNavigator, and each tab is a Module. One of the modules is labelled Units and the full code of the module is posted in this post. There are several problems:
1) Forms are not populated with data from the datagrid selection.
2) Selecting a row and clicking delete gives the very-common error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
A trace on the valueObject unit within the selectionChangeHandler function gives NULL. Why? Note: In other modules (other tabs of the TabNavigator), I have DropDownLists populated with units. This means that the valueObject Unit is defined in the other modules. However, valueObjects should be private to modules, and not shared.

Then i change this click event to change event, however, there will be another problem, which is if i click the same row, nothing will happend. so is there any better idea when i click a row, a panel shows and when i click the blank place, nothing happened.
