I have a DataGrid where one of the columns has a labelFunction. When I run the application a scrollbar shows up in the DataGrid indicating to me that it has data but there is nothing in the DataGrid. When I scroll items start showing up. When I Debugged it I noticed that the labelFunction was never being called until I started scrolling. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I have a ComboBox with a label function like this one:

When I change locales, the labels display correctly in the ComboBox's dropdown list, or if I change a selection. However, the currently selected item's label doesn't refresh at first. Is there a way to force the labelFunction to get called again?

How do I get the DataGrid to re-render the visible items so that the labelFunction will be run again to get the new data.I've tried the invalidateDisplayList, validateNow, and tried dispatching ResizeEvents on the DataGrid.

I have a Flec Bar chart. It has a Bar series. I need to show the datalabel at the tip of the bars. For this am using labelFunction.This works fine. Now I want to add a plotseries in the same chart. View 1 RepliesMy first issue is that when my ArrayCollection only has one item, for some reason I cannot select that first item. The change function set on the mxml never gets called when I try to select that one item. If I set a prompt, it works. I know that the item is not already selected because when debugging, the selected item shows null. I do not want to use a prompt. I want the first item in the ArrayCollection to be selected automatically. So if there is only one item, I want the selected item to be that. FYI - I am using a labelFunction to format the data in the Array Collection. why I cannot select the first item or set the first item in the ArrayCollection to be the selected item?
My bigger issue is that when my Array Collection gets updated, my label function must not be refreshing because when I first open the dropdown, it has specfic data. When the Array Collection gets updated and I open the dropdown again, I see the old data in the dropdown, yet it doesn't exist anymore.
So let's say I have a ComboBox that has a datasource of an array collection of one state code and it's state name. Their is a labelFunction that puts a dash in between the state code and the state name. Their is no prompt, so the ComboBox would look like GA - Georgia and when you open the dropdown, that would be all that is there. I want that item to be selected automatically. why the old data shows up when opening the dropdown after the array collection was updated with new data?

I've a AdvancedDataGridColumn which has both 'labelFunction' and 'dataTipFunction' defined.I want dataTipFunction to return the output of 'labelFunction' + someText.
P.S : The problem here is dataTipFunction doesn't have access to 'column' object.
issue is that when a user clicks a datagrid cell that has a combobox editor and then immediately clicks away from the cell, the text value in that cell disappears. I have an itemEditEnd handler on the datagrid and it shows the value of the property I use as the editorDataField just fine. But the labelFunction (which gets called after the itemEditEnd handler) on that grid column sees it as zero. Why aren't the labelFunction and item editor playing together nicely? I have an AdvancedDataGrid with a custom label function whose value can change based on other form status (specifically, there's a drop down to choose the time display format for some columns).Right now, I have this labelFunction:

... and the timeFormat object is a combo box with items whose labelFunction attributes are formatTimeAsFractions and formatTimeAsInterval.The columns that have time formats have formatColumnTime as their labelFunction value, because extracting the seconds in that function and passing it in to the formatters made for a more testable app (IMHO).
when the timeFormat.selectedItem value changes, I want to force my grid to re-calculate the labels of these colums. What method must I call on it? invalidateProperties() didn't work, so that's out.

View 1 RepliesI am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems:
If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up... Is there anything now wright in the setup of my set data method?

Both have single columns. Selecting one item from Divsions datagrid should display members of that Division in the Members datagrid. But following code has some problem and Members of a particular division do not show up when respective Divsion is clicked.

For poor performance reasons, the DataGrid will cache checkboxes and reuse them for different rows. If you have 50 rows, it won't create 50 checkboxes. It will create as many checkboxes at are visible, plus a few more for padding, and then reuse them as you scroll. This is why you need to explicitly manage their state. How can improve it ? Ok, here's my requirement in short-I have a datagrid that is updated every time data update is received. Now, all I want to do is check if the present value in every cell in a specific datagridcolumn is less than the new value then color that particular cell green, if the present value is greater than the new value then color it red, else leave previous color as it is. Simple?Now, the coloring part is important but comes later. As of now, I need to know how to get present cell data in the labelfunction of the datagridcolumn.

I am having issues with startDrag(). I have a movie clip called circle. Inside circle, I have a movie clip called circleFill and another called circleOutline.onEnterFrame, this movieClip is duplicated 4 times.

What does this mean? I have gone through a bunch of tutorials and none of them have worked. It seems like changing a the colors in a datagrid should be relatively simple.

in Flex I have something like that: [code]and dg is ALWAYS pointing at DataGrid (even if dg1 has name DataGrid_test and dg2 = DataGrid_test2) and finally action is made on my first DataGrid (DataGrid_test).[code]and search still points at ColorColumn :/ My problem is really easy- I just want to pass to search different dataGrid on each state.But still I don't understand why it doesn't work. My search function uses algorhitm Boyer-Moor for searching through dataGrid.dataProvider for some text. If it find something then it is pushed into new array and after passing whole dataProvider I colorize rows with searched word.

If I set it to zero it doesn't get fired. What's the deal? Does anyone know why it wouldn't get called when setting it to zero. If I change the object type to a number or even an object it still doesn't work as expected.

I am working on a Flex Front End at the moment, and have been using the Parsley framework for passing messages/events around.
I was wondering if there is a simple way for a function (in this case, an event's constructor) to obtain a reference to the object which called it?
This is to ensure that a certain event that I am defining can only be dispatched by one specified class. My thinking is to check the caller of the constructor somehow, and throw an error if it is not of the correct type.

With badges I mean the little red circles with a number in it which are used to display the amount of new items in a inbox by example.

I'm using the FETStationPanels from FlashEff2 with Flex 3. Unfortunately, it is garbling some of the letters.Imagine that I've got three buttons. If any of the buttons are selected a titleWindow opens. Inside the titleWindow is some text pulled from a database that has the FETStationPanels effect applied to it, and an image. The first button that is clicked (it doesn't matter which one) will have garbled text. If I select another button, then the effect is fine and everything displays okay.
The FlashEff2 effect is fired on the creationComplete event of the TitleWindow.
I had a resize effect on the TitleWindow. I removed it, because I thought that that might be the problem. I put in a static height for the TitleWindow, but that didn't work either.I also tried using callLater and setting a timer to delay the appearance of the image until well after the effect had ended, but that didn't work, either.
I created a custom validator as follows in Flex 4 beta 2[code]...
it works but if you notice I have an Alert window for testing and it gets displayed 4 times which means the validator is getting called 4 times.
I wonder is anyone can look at this code and tell me why calling the removeSelectedChild works when called from the same document, but returns the following error when called from the child document/component.
