Actionscript 3 :: Create Simplest Text Link To Open Visitors Email Client?
Feb 13, 2010I would like to know the simplest way to use a text link and open a visitors email client.
View 1 RepliesI would like to know the simplest way to use a text link and open a visitors email client.
View 1 RepliesI am using the following code to open my client email program and I want the address, subject field and body text completed.
submit_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, sendMessage);
var subject="My Subject"var body="This is text. This is text. This is text. This is text. This is text. This is text. "var to="me@address.net"
function sendMessage(event:MouseEvent):void {var email:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:"+to+"?subject=" +subject+ "&body="+body);navigateToURL(email, "_self");}
The problem is no matter what I have tried I cannot get the subject and body text to show any text. The email client open and the correct address is shown. Is this a problem with trying to run it locally and not from server or is there a problem with the code?
I made a Flash banner ad that I want to put on my site for my client to view. In Flash, when I test it, everything works, button email link. I import it into the body of my DW html page, test it in DW...works. However, when I upload to my site, the button doesn't open an email link.

How do you create an email link so that they click on the link and their send email (outlook or netscape) box pops up with the email addy specified in the send to box.

View 1 RepliesI want to make a button, when clicked, open a blank email in outlook express to an email, with a subject.i take it you would use:[code] just wanted to show you what i meant! that was just a random stab.
View 3 Replieshere is the issue I am having: I have a button in my main movie and after it is pressed i want for it to open a pop up window right next to this button with some information in it. I have a email button so when you click on that button I want another window to open right next to this email button with my email address.
View 14 RepliesI am creating a movie, and need to create alink to open a web page. My movie exists in a folder ("Flash") and I need to move up a level(out of that folder), and into another folder, (HTML) where the page I need to open resides. What would the path name need to be ie: ..HTML/default.html?
View 5 Repliesi have a flash gallery .In this i need a email button ,when click on the mail button an email editor might be open ( outook ) with the currently selected image as its attachment .
View 3 RepliesI don't know if this is too much to ask but could someone give me a quick overview on how to create an email form that actually sends the information to my email? I have the form created, and I'll post the .fla file (I allow a laugh at my elementary flash movie. This is just a final project for an intro to flash class), and I understand I'll need the .asp file from GoDaddy setup on my hosted space.
View 3 Repliesiam trying to create an email form with flash cs4. so i've designed the layout and i've written a script to check that the details given are correct. but i am having problems while i am trying to sent those details to my email. here is the script after the details were checked:
[Code]...
if there is a email client built into Flash CS4? We discovered a hidden email client in Photoshop a few weeks ago.
View 5 RepliesI am trying to mimic the basic mailto: href command you find in HTML in Flash AS3 but cannot figure it out.I simply have text in my flash project like "someone@someone.com" which i want to, when clicked, launch a new compose email with "someone@someone.com" in the to field of the users default email client.
View 2 RepliesI've created a flash naviagation menu and currenlly my links will open a pop up window. I don't want this. I want it to open the link in the same window. Here is the code for one of the links:
var home:URLRequest = new URLRequest("index.html");
function homeDown(event:MouseEvent):void { navigateToURL(home,"_self");}
button_home.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,homeDown);
I want to create a URL link for the description text. Everything works fine until I get to the actual link - it's displaying the HTML. I've clicked on the HTML button in the properties inspector for the text field (see the attached photo); I've also added the following in the AS:
Code:
desc_txt.html = true;
desc_txt.multiline = true;
No luck; it's still displaying the HTML.
Code:
function nextImage() {
if (p<(total-1)) {
p++;
[code]....
I need to take this code
Code:
_myButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onMouseClick);
function onMouseClick(e:MouseEvent):void
{
[Code].....
and create in AS3 a button for it (_myButton) with the text 'click me'
I'm thinking about making a game that would have 3 "save slots", so you could play the game and then load the game later. If you were to save the game, basically flash would store a list of variable values into a text file.
Let's say I have game.swf in a folder named MyGame.Also in that folder I'll have save1.txt, save2.txt, and save3.txt. If I'm loading a game, I'd want Flash to open that txt file, read the values, and then set the variables equal to that in the text file. So if you open save1.txt and you see a=1, b=3, and c=2, I'd want flash to then take those values and set it's own same variable a = 1, b = 3, and c = 2.
On the other hand, if you're saving a game, let's say a=10, b=10, and c=10, I'd like it for flash to open save1.txt and replace the text there with a list of the current variables.Flash would need to do one more thing... if for some reason the file were deleted, Flash would need to create a new txt file. If the txt file is missing, you couldn't load, but if you're trying to save to save1.txt and that file doesn't exist, I'd need flash to create a new save1.txt and then put the variables into it.
I have a file setup that will email name, email, and message when the user inputs it in the appropriate input box. Is there a way to email dynamic text within that same email. Im using php to send the email to myself. if you need more info let me know
View 2 RepliesCan I add a link to an email address in a banner or other Flash document, such that the visitor's email client comes up with the TO completed, as happens everywhere in HTML?
View 4 RepliesI designed my flash movie and added some invisible buttons but I don't know how to add an email link as a invisible button. My instructor said something about submitting my info to the server, it will have my email. I don't know what he's talking about. Do I just put some code in the actions panel in Flash and somehow code "mailto: " ?
View 3 RepliesI've made a component based on a mx:TitleWindow that contains linkbuttons that I'm using as a context-menu. The TitleWindow component contains link buttons like this:
[Bindable]
private var _showEmailThis:Boolean = false;
[Bindable]
private var _showApproveThis:Boolean = false;
[Bindable]
private var _showReviewThis:Boolean = false
[Code] .....
This component contains a large number of links and is re-used by multiple modules in the same application. Within each module, this component is used when a user clicks on a row in a datagrid. The code looks like this:
In "Requests" module:
private function dgRequests_click(event:MouseEvent):void {
menu.showApproveThis = true;
menu.showReviewThis = true;
}
In "Performance" module:
private function dgPerformance_click(event:MouseEvent):void {
menu.showEmailThis = true;
menu.showReviewThis = true;
}
As you can see, the visibility of individual linkbuttons is controlled within each module by setting boolean properties. If I alter this component to use a renderer, how can I control the visibility of the linkbuttons from the code in each module (there are over a hundred links with different functionality - not every link will be used in each module)? Note: it is not known from the back-end which grid within which module uses which link. This is set in the front end within each module's actionscript file. E.g., if the XML looks like this:
[Code] .....
And I set the Email link to show in the module like this:
private function dgPerformance_click(event:MouseEvent):void {
menu.showEmailThis = true;
}
How do I make it take effect? Is there a way to control the visibility of a linkbutton within an item renderer in a component from the module that uses that component?
Is it possible to open just my default mail "e.g. outlook" rather than open a browser and the outlook?
on(release){
getURL("mailto:mymail@mail.com");
}
How does one link a button to an email address? So in otherwords, once you click a button, your email application opens, ready to compose a message to the assigned address.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a button that when clicked on opens an email client with an empty address field but a filled subject and body, but have no idea where to begin.The idea is that I have a "Refer me to your friends!" button, so when the user clicks it, it opens an email with the subject "Sairus is awesome" and a body filled with propaganda. The address field must remain blank so they can add in the friend's address they wish to send.For the moment I'm working with the below, however obviously enough the address is being filled in. Hoever, despite the seemingly correct code, the subject and body are remaining empty. I'm using Flash 8, is the syntax different in my version?
on (release) {
getURL("mailto:sairus@awesome.com?subject=Sairus is awesome&body=The following 50 reasons explain why Sairus is awesome:");
}
