we are developing a small application wih Flash CS3 which will be released as a standalone Flash Projector.exe.
We want to have a link to our website in the flash application that should open our webpage in the Default Browser of the System.
We tried:
PHP Code:
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.google.com"),"_blank");
But when I click on that link in our standalone.exe, on my system "ultraedit" gets opened and it tries to open a path on the local system and the webpage adress after that. "C:ProjectsInflationhttp:\www.google.de".
Is there a work around to the getURL Firefox issue? I am having trouble getting Firefox to open my file from my exe when FF is set to my default browser. If FF is already open, the getURL functions fine. If FF is closed, I have to click on my button twice in order to open the file (ie, click once opens a blank window, click again and the file opens) I have FF 2.0.0.1, Flash MX 2004 Prof. I have tried setting an interval to have the getURL fire again but I can't seem to get it to work.
[Code]....
I just got my MacBook and am trying out the Flash BUilder on said platform. I've installed Firefox and Google Chrome on my MacBook but I can't seem to find a way to set which browser would launch my Flex apps whenever I hit the Run button inside Flash Builder. As far as I know, I can locate the Browser property on the Project Properties on my Windows copy of Flash Builder but I couldn't over here at my Mac. Any thoughts?

View 6 RepliesI'm trying to openWithDefaultApplication a downloaded file (stored into app documents directory) on iPad. I installed PDFReaderLite, still openWithDefaultApplication don't rexognizes extension pdf. What can I do to make PDFReaderLite be a default app for opening pdf?
View 1 Replieswe're developing an app that should be able to open specified file with default editor application. (so if it is .doc - it suppose to be opened by MSWord or openOffice)
But I also need to wait until user will close the editor, check if it was changed (by size and date), and upload it to the server.
So the following steps:
1) find def editor
2) open file
3) wait it be closed
4) do smth after that with the file.
now results of my research:
-> opening by def editor is simple: file.openWithDefaultApplication();
but there is no way to know that editor is closed (maybe by checking that file is not locked in timer???)
-> i can start the native process and pass file as parameter BUT looks like the code NativeApplication.nativeApplication.getDefaultApplication(file.extension); does not work for any extension :( - it doesnt work for "rtf", "doc" but works for "pdf"... and [file.openWithDefaultApplication()] works fine with any file!
Does anyone know how i can link a button so that when i click a button it would open say, "essay.doc" in its default program (Word)?
View 1 RepliesI need to open a file in its default app, on windows XP SP2, in flashplayer 7.I've searched and found some exe files that claim to be able to do just that, but i cant get it to work.

I've managed to open a given exe file from the fscommand folder, but cant get the above examples to work - i think the problem is, that i cant send parameters to the exe file.
Is there a reg key or custom GPO out there that will let me default Flash Player to open in Low Quality mode? Whenever a flash site opens, it opens in High Quality.Using Win 2003 SP1, with IE6 with Flash Player 9.0.
View 12 RepliesI want my app (AIR app ported on iOS) to be able to show file located on the remote server and open it with default app (if there's one on device). Is it possible (maybe one can somehow use openWithDefaultApp here)?
UPD: I succeed with downloading (into File.documentsDirectory). I can't force iPad to open downloaded files.
UPD2: I tried to use both openWithDefaultApp and NavigateToUrl.
I'm working on my companys website and I am trying to make a link from flash open the default mail program so they can send us an email. All of that works fine and dandy.... on PCs. While using a mac I was not able to get the email to go through, it will just send back an undeliverable email. Does anyone know of a solution for this or am I going to have to completely change the way that I'm doing it?
Heres my HTML Code:
infoEmail.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, getInfo);
function getInfo(e:MouseEvent){
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("mailto: email@emailaddress.com"), "_self");
}
I know that the PC email actually goes through, it forwards it to me.
I made a Flash banner ad that I want to put on my site for my client to view. In Flash, when I test it, everything works, button email link. I import it into the body of my DW html page, test it in DW...works. However, when I upload to my site, the button doesn't open an email link.

View 3 RepliesHow to display new scene on top of the browser as default I have a flash animation with 15 scenes, On main page there are many links and user has to browse vertically using browser scrollbar, when a user clicks on a link which is at the bottom and goes to that page the position of scrollbar is same as that was on main page (scene), I want the new scene to be opened at top of the browser as default.

View 3 RepliesI am using the following code to open my client email program and I want the address, subject field and body text completed.
submit_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, sendMessage);
var subject="My Subject"var body="This is text. This is text. This is text. This is text. This is text. This is text. "var to="me@address.net"
function sendMessage(event:MouseEvent):void {var email:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:"+to+"?subject=" +subject+ "&body="+body);navigateToURL(email, "_self");}
The problem is no matter what I have tried I cannot get the subject and body text to show any text. The email client open and the correct address is shown. Is this a problem with trying to run it locally and not from server or is there a problem with the code?
I would like to know the simplest way to use a text link and open a visitors email client.
View 1 RepliesI want to say that the code I am working with is the same found here: [URL] The code is working perfectly (pictures are displaying) when opening the file, work_diesel.swf by itself. However, my problems occur when I open default.swf, and then navigating to the section work. From there I hit advertising, and in that section DIESEL. HERE is where the problem is visible. The pictures are not loading AT ALL when doing it this way (the correct and final way).
I am just wondering if anyone can pin point the problem for me so I can change it. It must be said that the work_diesel.swf is loading from an external source into default.swf.
Why I am getting an extra blank browser window named "untitled" behind the main one, which pops up fine. I did test it on my remote server and it still had the same problem as from within flash itself?
var emailLink:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:law@optonline.net");
email_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);
function onClick(MouseEvent):void {
navigateToURL(emailLink);
}
how to stop a browser window opening up when the email link is clicked? I'm using a button with this script:
on(release){
getURL("mailto: name@address.co.uk ");
}
<script>window.resizeTo(350, 500);</script> that is what I did it works but is there anyway I can get rid of the menu bars and scroll for the windowresize?
View 1 RepliesIm here to ask a probably dumb question again. This is related to my previous questions. I current found a way for flash/flex to send a video file(in byteArray) to php. Where php receives and writes it in the local sytem then sends it to the youtube server automatically trhu a script.This is all backend though I have no way to check if the video file was uploaded succesfully in youtube than to check it manually in youtube.
So im thinking of a new php script where it will receive and write the video file from flash. Then opening a browser window where it will automatically upload the video and at the same time track it thru the browser of its status using debug prints perhaps.
Im barely still learning php. I tried to do some research on this but found no success.
I'm running an online game site, and a few websites are really bad about embedding some of my games and stealing bandwidth.
To combat this, I replaced the original files with super-simple .swf files that redirected back to my own websites -- thus stealing back the traffic that they were stealing from me.
The problem came later when something changed with the new Flash player, and new windows no longer opened. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get new windows to open. I've tried a few different approaches, but nothing appears to work.
So what I'm wondering is, can this even be done anymore -- where I can switch out a .swf that's being leeched with one that opens a window to my own site?
I am making my website's nav bar in flash. I want some of the buttons to open new browser windows to display aspx/html files. Is this possible using actionscript 3.0?
