View 2 RepliesIm working with FlashDevelop and have two main projects, all pure AS3 projects.When trying to load my second project from my main project I get all kinds of errors.The Main class of the main project extends Sprite and the Main class in the "to-be-imported" project extends MovieClip. Looking at the loading of the swf in the debug window in FD it all seems fine:
[SWF] 'pathToSwf'secondProject.swf - 410 626 bytes after decompression.
If i try to assign the loaded swf to a newly created MovieClip I get a coercion failiure:
swfContent = loader.content; // =>
Type Coercion failed: cannot convert Main@46c0201 to flash.display.MovieClip.
So, typecasting the loaded content like so:
swfContent = loader.content as MovieClip;
removes that error but then I fall into the next pit as I try to call addChild:
Error #2007: Parameter child must be non-null.
Trying to get around the issue I tried to add the loader directly into the container where I want to show the external swf. This is when the real interesting problems begin:
targetContainer.addChild(loader);
My main application now hang, restarting in a never ending loop. How can my external swf be loaded but then again be null.It works perfectly fine when I run the external swf by itself...

the loop starts at 0 and not 1 so the loop ends at 6 does any one know how to resolve this issue?? its so that what ever number dayVal is it will be rounded up to a number that is Divisble by 7 .
ok so im having an issue with Flash CS5.I have a sound looping, and my animation is only 13 frames long, while the song is like a minute long, so each time the animation loops threw the default "Loop Playback" a new sound audio is played which os overlapping the previous over and over causing a massive echo effect.Whats the best way to loop both of them insync, or atleast copy and paste the animations frames and make it the length of the song?

From this AS3 code I expect 500 lines of trace outputs that contain "2048". But instead I get only some lines containing "2048". The rest of the traces print a "0" which shows me that the extract() method did not return any data.
Why is this the case? I would like to iterate through the soundfile with a specific amount of steps to extract 2048 bytes of the sound at the respective position. Extracting the entire soundfile at once would freeze the flashplayer for seconds and is therefore not a good solution for me.This behaviour can be found as long steps is smaller than samplesInSound/2048.The closer it comes to that value, the more lines with a "0" are printed compared to those with a 2048 in it.

I had the idea that the extracted part of the soundfile is cut out of the rest of the soundfile after extracting it (like at Actionscript 3 - Sound.extract method empties sound object data), so I tried out another for loop:
for(var i=0; i<samplesInSound - steps * 2048; i += Math.floor(samplesInSound/steps) - 2048) but this didn't work out either.
Can I edit it if I buy the application?I would like to know how i can gain control of this file type.

View 5 RepliesI made a flash website with an introduction slide show. When the slide show is over it closes altogether in the index web page. The slide show works fine but it closes abruptly. I would like to find out if there is a way to fadeout the slide show at the same rate the images fade out, or if there is a way to make a slideshow with a transparent background. have extensive programming experience in other languages.What I am trying to do should be fairly simple, but I am not able to accomplish it.When a flash video ends I want to redirect the user to a new webpage. This traget webpage will be different based on the query string that is passed.
Example:
Video is embedded on page: /video.php
if query string is: ?redirect_to=xyz[code]....
I think there are 2 options one using Javascript and the other using the load event listener.

How would I change it to looping. I changed the true to false at the end of the code but that didn't work. here it is:

How can I loop a sound without the gap? If i try

it will have a gap everytime it loops, how can i fix that?

how to continuously loop a sound, but all I have seen is aSound.play(0,1000);Not really a continueous loop. I was looking at watching for one of the COMPLETE dispatches (from the Sound object, or from the SoundChannel object), then start the sound again. The only thing is would this not start another channel?

I have uploaded an .swf file to my site but when I embed it into my site page it won't play all the way through, it just freezes about half way. But the same .swf file will play fine in Flash.. I am using a content management system called Teamsite.
This file is not especially large only 377KB, I have tried removing images to reduce the size down to 96KB and it will still freeze. The file is just rotating images and uses no fancy effects just a simple fade.
I have a programmatic tween (fl.transitions.Tween) on a MovieClip and want to apply a ColorTransform on it when it ends. Basically, the Tween scales an item down to its original size, and I want to know when the scaleX is back to 1, and then trigger the application of a ColorTransform. Is there a way to do that or must I use a timer in conjunction with the Tween?

I am building a Flash webiste and want the sound to loop once the movie loads. I have added a stop and play button to the movie in case the viewer doesn't want the sound on. I understand sound can be annoying.
I add the following code to the FRAME 1 of the movie. Everything works fine but when the loop finishes, it just stops. How do I get it to continue looping? Also, as I navigate to other sections of the movie.. I want it to continue playing and not restart when I go back to say "Home". Home starts at frame 1 as well.[code]...
I have created a button which plays an external MP3 file, but the first problem is it only plays once. What script do i have to add so the sound continually loops. Secondly, I have created a button which stops music, but I can't figure out the code which stops the MP3 file playing. I've tried backMusic.close();, but an error message is displayed as the sound is already loaded up.

I've tried it with _root, without, using a variable such as moji = eval("moji"+k) then moji.onPress, but nothing works. It just won't play the sound unless it's hard coded.
In the tutorials, there is a sound loop that you start with a button, The fla didn't have a stop script to add to a second button.

can anyone tell me how to loop 5 different sounds, drums, bass, sax etc. When i use :

and play them all, it's ok, looping fine, but what i want to do is to have 5 buttons that control those 5 sounds. turning of and on some of them... i tried with "secondSound.setVolume(0)" to turn off 2nd sound, but that kill them all... CAN i SOMEHOW set volume down just for one sound? OR if thats not possible, i need bass or sax sound to start again, when button is clicked, in the same position where drums sound is...

**Say you have a single-scene 170 frame long movie.
**The first two frames contain a preloader function.
**Following the preloader is a very short introduction.
**Then, the real stuff begins including a background SOUND LOOP that begins at say frame 70.
**Now here's the actual problem: I want the sound loop to only play between frames 70 and 170. Nowhere else, especially not over the preloader if someone happens to restart the movie.
-Which is what happens now. It plays fine the first time, but then the loop just keeps going and going no matter what.
