I'm aware of PopUpManager and that custom modal windows can be created.But let's say I have a simple Canvas(or any component) and when I show it the background needs to be blurred out like how PopUpManager does when a new pop-up is shown.Is this possible?

I put a filled Shape with a blur on it but doesn't look the same. I am assuming the blur effect is applied on the stage, but this would also blur the popup window. I also want several layers of modal+popup like "do you want to delete this?" and pressing yes => "are you sure?" Kind of thing.
I create several instances of TitleWindow. And added them on stage by PopUpManager.addPopUp( wnd, root,true but how to change blur of madal state?

I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?

I'm trying to pop up a Flex WindowTitle custom component, and after the user choose some values, the parent window must be refreshed.I'm showing the modal window, the user can't interact with other components, but the problem I detect is the execution of the program flows, even I choosing to show the Input window as modal, the next methods to refresh the page is called before the user close the modal page. It obviously doesn't have to be anchor tag, but they say preferably that it is. Anyway I need to implement the same thing inside the flash movie: after click on the button the given modal box pop up. It'd be nice if I can load external content inside the popup windows.

a know that this can be achieved with events, and with breaks the code into several functions ... but i don't want that ... i want to keep things simple.just when i call CYESNO m_yesno=new CYESNO(); the code stops and after selecting an option, then code continues to execute from corresponding if() block in the same function.i thought that nested functions will help me but unfortunately i was wrong.Or not ?
I have a flash template that I am working on, and have customized it via the XML files. It's an AS3 template. I also have a Flash poll script that I am attempting to integrate into the template. This is where it gets a bit tricky...I have decided to use a modal window (which supports swf files) to open the poll that I am using. If it were as simple as to load the swf file, I would be fine, but the poll also includes XML and PHP files, which I don't know what to do with.
The files included are: preview.swf, preview.fla, the xml file, config.php, edit.php, index.php and then "caurina" and documentation files. What I'm thinking I need to do is include the preview.swf file into my modal window, but I'm not sure what to do with the rest of these files, do they go into a new folder in the main template folder or what?

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to make a popup alert modal window thing with an external class. I have a simple swf set up with just some random sample text, a rectangle, and a button. What I want to happen is for the "alert" class to initialize upon startup of the swf and then when I click the button (instance: btn), the alert will show up. If I get rid of all AS in the swf and set alert as the document class, it shows up just fine, so I think it should be working, but for some reason I get this instead when I try the button function:

I have a flex 3 application that creates an Image from a canvas which the user draws on. I use the ImageSnapshot class to create the image

I have a several chart components that I have created in Flex. Basically I have set up a special UI that allows the user to select which of these charts they want to print. When they press the print button each of the selected charts is created dynamically then added to a container. Then I send this container off to FlexPrintJob.
i.e.

I have seen some examples on the adobe site that add the container to the application but don't include it in the layout. This looks like the way to go.

I'm working on an app that, from the Main.mxml, opens one or many Window.mxml instances. When it's done I want all windows to be chromeless so the custom controls need to work. In Main I've added applicationComplete="init();" so the init function gets ran, which contains clickhandlers, which makes the buttons work. However, this way of running an init function doesn't seem to be valid for an mx:Window. I can cheat by not using a clickhandler for the minimize and close buttons with a click="this.minimize();", but I don't know of a way like this to make the move work because it's a MOUSE_DOWN event.
Question 1: Is there a way to have such an init function in an mx:Window?
Question 2: What's a good way to make the buttons on the Window instances all work?

In my flex app there are a few custom components. I want to create instance of these components at runtime and assign them properties by reading in a config file. I know how to read xml and instantiate components, however my question is about being able to get the type of the component from the xml attribute and then creating an instance of that type.

In my Flash Builder (Flex) 4.6 app, I just noticed for some reason all my "s:Window" components will not allow me to click and select anything in design mode in flash builder!
My other non-window type components are fine - I can open a TitleWindow or Group for example and click on the various fields and labels no problem.
In my Window components, I can select an item in the 'outline' window, but not using the mouse and actually clicking on the component in the visual design window. When I click in there, it looks like it's selecting the actual 'window' box. Almost like it needs to be 'sent to back' or something.

View 3 RepliesI want to be able to show a Spark TitleWindow container as a modal without having to construct it by code via AS3. I tried creating the TitleWindow before-hand manually by dragging and resizing it around and adding objects, etc then hiding it. Then on a button, I set the called function to the ones below:

Unfortunately, this only shows testWindow but not as a modal. I want it to be like this so that I can freely resize and design the layout of my TitleWindow and only have to call some function to show it as a modal one.
