ActionScript 3.0 :: TypeError: #1009 - Make A Popup Alert Modal Window Thing With An External Class
Apr 15, 2011
I'm trying to make a popup alert modal window thing with an external class. I have a simple swf set up with just some random sample text, a rectangle, and a button. What I want to happen is for the "alert" class to initialize upon startup of the swf and then when I click the button (instance: btn), the alert will show up. If I get rid of all AS in the swf and set alert as the document class, it shows up just fine, so I think it should be working, but for some reason I get this instead when I try the button function:
I want to make a modal effect like a popup window in Flex, but with pure as3.
I put a filled Shape with a blur on it but doesn't look the same. I am assuming the blur effect is applied on the stage, but this would also blur the popup window. I also want several layers of modal+popup like "do you want to delete this?" and pressing yes => "are you sure?" Kind of thing.
I need to close the popup(adobe flex), non modal window if I click on the parent page of the popup. I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?
I am using this nyromodal.nyrodev.com to open a modal pop-up windows on the webpage. The thing is it watches for click even on tag that has a certain class. For instance
It obviously doesn't have to be anchor tag, but they say preferably that it is. Anyway I need to implement the same thing inside the flash movie: after click on the button the given modal box pop up. It'd be nice if I can load external content inside the popup windows.
I am creating modal popup canvas window in a parent page. When I close the popup how do we get notification in parent screen that child popup is just closed.
For example: Say the application has two VBox with vertical layout. There is a Button in first VBox and when clicked, there is a custom modal popup being shown. By default the whole background of the application remains blur, but I want the second VBox to be visible. Is this possible? If yes how can i accomplish this?
Everytime I try to do even an ExternalInterface.call('alert','abc'); (Which will work on every browser) I get an object doesn't support this property or method After the alert appears. It even happens in the HTML generated by flash without me touching it...
I am trying to style the Alert window on an external file but I get the following warning and the style won't be applied, keep in mind that the Alert is being called from an external AS file as well so the code is not embedded in the MXML.
The CSS type selector 'Alert' was not processed, because the Alert was not used in the application.Type alert in CSS selector 'Alert' must be qualified with a namespace.
Alert{ color : #124332; background-color: #ffffff; header-colors : #243322, #243322;
i have some script that called 'to make a popup alert / wndow alert like java script window alert' like this :Code:navigateToURL(new URLRequest("javascript:alert('Some Text..');"),"_Self");but thats didnt work for me, when i try to call that, that just open the blank url in my web browser.
I want to load an external swf when it's fully loaded. Then this is the code
ActionScript Code: var contentLoader:Loader function processSWF():void {
[code]....
but flash give me TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference instead, if i don't insert the listener, all goes fine
I have a web page in joomla and I embed a video window from UStream that allows my users to see or hear our transmissions. Every time I load the page in which the embeded window is, I receive this error message:
[Code]...
I posted this message before but I notice it was no longer posted. I have no knowledge of programming so I am lost.
I have extended a RadioButton into a custom class in order to store some extra info. I want to dynamically add these RadioButtons to the stage to create a dynamic menu box. So I started simple in order to make sure I knew how to do this.Here's the error (I love Flash IDE error reporting):
Code: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at fl.controls::RadioButton/drawLayout() at fl.controls::LabelButton/draw()
I am trying to load an external swf file. It loads just fine, but when I try to attach it to the stage, it completely overwhelms the parent swf as if it was on top of everything. It also occurs when I attach it to a movieClip. Again, nothing is clickable on the parent swf (even at places, where the moveClip isn't on). When I used an event listener to attach it, nothing got displayed at all.Here is the code:
Security.allowDomain("http://[path-to-3rd-party-server].swf?camera_id=9593"); var camRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://[path-to-3rd-party-server].swf?camera_id=9593"); var camLoader:Loader = new Loader()[CODE3]..... }
I also seem to getting a "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference." if I don't use "addChild(camLoader)".
Create a modal popup to popup with popupmanager (mine is a group with a skinnable container inside of it)Put field components (textinputs) on the modal popup Attempt to tab between controlsTab switches to controls behind the modal-popup and ignores the fact that the modal is there. The tab loop only contains controls behind the modal. I've tried everything from setting tabChildren, to hasFocusableChildren. I can't implement IFocusManager as it's Halo and my modal is a Spark group, but would that work in some capacity? It really seems like Flex just ignores the modal in its focusmanager.
I was trying to make a popup window so I was just writing the code, published... and staring to nothing. I thought I made something wrong, so I checked the help and copied this piece of code from there (it's the code under MovieClip.createEmptyMovieClip()):
ActionScript Code: var container:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("container", this.getNextHighestDepth()); var label:TextField = container.createTextField("label", 1, 0, 0, 150, 20);
[Code]....
PS: I read about returning Void, but whatever I make, I cannot create a movieclip with a textfield inside in FP7
My Flex 3 application has some modal dialogs displayed via the PopUpManager, but there are times when I'd like other view components to know there is popup displayed. The PopUpManager doesn't have any method for actually checking the existence of popups. Is there any other way to detect this in flash/flex without writing my own global manager?
(also systemManager.popUpChildren.numChildren == 0 even when there's a modal popup)
When using the PopUpManager in Flex with modal = true, the background application is blurred. Is it possible to keep this blur for most of the background application but set certain components to not be blurred?
I need to make a pop up window effect within a flash movieclip.

There are several ways to do it.
One is to pull it out of the library the second is to place it on stage, set it visible = false via actionscript and set it visible = true when you click the button.[code]...
How to make a centered pupup window. I kinda got it working. But when I test the movie out a blank page with the word "object" in the left corner appears behind the photo-gallery I have in the popup. When I upploaded it and tried if it would work "on the net" the button that brings up the popup does nothing.

How to make a button which opens a pop up window(don't really knows if that's the correct name) with a image or text, centered, but the site isn't available unless I click the "x" button on that window or outside the window.
I am trying call a popup window from actionscript on a button and am having trouble I am using following: import flash.external.ExternalInterface; Then on the button in Flash: on (release) { ExternalInterface.call("myPopup.start", "#contactForm"); } but I don't know if ExternalInterface will properly call the start() method.... am a little lost The page is @ [URL] and the link at the bottom "CLICK HERE FOR FORM" is what needs to be incorporated into a flash button on the SWF.
I have a main flash movie that has 6 navigation buttons for 6 sections of the website. Each button loads an external swf to cutdown on preloader time for the whole website. Within each section, for example section1.swf, there are a number of images you can click through, with previous and back buttons. On each image in section1.swf is a button so that you can popup a window with more related info and images. So, in section1.swf on the first image image1_mc there is a button pop_btn, and I would like it to open a popup_mc which loads an external swf. Popup_mc would have a close_btn to close the window. I have tried various things for 2 weeks, and have had no luck. I can open a popup window, or I can load a swf, but I can't figure out how to put it all together.
