Flash :: Flex PopUpManager: Detect The Existence Of A Modal Popup?

My Flex 3 application has some modal dialogs displayed via the PopUpManager, but there are times when I'd like other view components to know there is popup displayed. The PopUpManager doesn't have any method for actually checking the existence of popups. Is there any other way to detect this in flash/flex without writing my own global manager?
(also systemManager.popUpChildren.numChildren == 0 even when there's a modal popup)

When using the PopUpManager in Flex with modal = true, the background application is blurred. Is it possible to keep this blur for most of the background application but set certain components to not be blurred?

I need to close the popup(adobe flex), non modal window if I click on the parent page of the popup. I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?

The tab loop only contains controls behind the modal. I've tried everything from setting tabChildren, to hasFocusableChildren. I can't implement IFocusManager as it's Halo and my modal is a Spark group, but would that work in some capacity? It really seems like Flex just ignores the modal in its focusmanager.

I want to make a modal effect like a popup window in Flex, but with pure as3.
I put a filled Shape with a blur on it but doesn't look the same. I am assuming the blur effect is applied on the stage, but this would also blur the popup window. I also want several layers of modal+popup like "do you want to delete this?" and pressing yes => "are you sure?" Kind of thing.

I need to check for file existence in Flash on x number of videos. I've tried LoadVars and MovieClipLoader. LoadVars works but it actually loaded the entire video before reporting its done. Without a way of knowing that its started, I can't delete it before its done. I don't what to load the entire video, i just want to check that its there. MovieClipLoader has onLoadError and onLoadStart, which works because I can unload the MovieClip right after its starts loading and know its there and if there's a load error I know it's not there. Should work, but I need to run that x number of times to check for the other videos.

I'm trying to get a modal window working, but for some reason, no matter what I do, the only part of the movie that's modalized is everything but the bottom 50 pixels; apparently the background transparent rectangle thing isn't being made high enough for whatever reason. Does anyone have any ideas of what's going on? A demo .fla of the apparent bug is attached.

I have a parent.swf file that loads a child.swf. When the child.swf is running on it's own, I'd like it to do one thing, but if it has been loaded into the parent.swf. I want it do something else (i.e. change behavior). Is there a way for the child.swf to detect whether it has been loaded into a parent.swf or not?

I am using this nyromodal.nyrodev.com to open a modal pop-up windows on the webpage. The thing is it watches for click even on tag that has a certain class. For instance

It obviously doesn't have to be anchor tag, but they say preferably that it is. Anyway I need to implement the same thing inside the flash movie: after click on the button the given modal box pop up. It'd be nice if I can load external content inside the popup windows.

For example: Say the application has two VBox with vertical layout. There is a Button in first VBox and when clicked, there is a custom modal popup being shown. By default the whole background of the application remains blur, but I want the second VBox to be visible. Is this possible? If yes how can i accomplish this?

I'm trying to make a popup alert modal window thing with an external class. I have a simple swf set up with just some random sample text, a rectangle, and a button. What I want to happen is for the "alert" class to initialize upon startup of the swf and then when I click the button (instance: btn), the alert will show up. If I get rid of all AS in the swf and set alert as the document class, it shows up just fine, so I think it should be working, but for some reason I get this instead when I try the button function:

If you create a popup via:[code]It will create a popup and bring it on top of any other visual piece. I have one problem though. This 'popup' needs to stay up even when the user interacts with the background.I would use modal, but I need the ability to interact with the back. Any way to tell the popup manager not to remove the popup when the user clicks off of it?

I have to put multiple Flash movies on a page and I'd like them to share modal popups, so that access to the entire page is denied while a popup is active. I can do this via Javascript and create HTML popups via the ExternalInterface class, but I would love to be able to do this entirely in Flex using the PopupManager class.
Note: This is not for any evil purpose. I just need to make sure none of the other movies' buttons are clicked before the user responds to the first thing they clicked. Also, some of the movies are quite small and can't contain some of the popups they require.

and I saw comments suggesting to use:
if ( node.hasOwnProperty('@test')) { // attribute qtest exists }
But in both case, tests are case sensitiveFrom the XML Specs : "XML processors should match character encoding names in a case-insensitive way" so I presume attribute name should also be match using a case-insensitive comparison.

I'm working on a mobile app using the Flex 4.5 SDK and I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle notification windows. In most cases these windows will be alerting the user to when something goes wrong. Ex: bad login, no data, cannot resolve server.
I'm using a singleton design pattern, I have a Requests class that handles server calls. Most popups will be originating from this class (IOErrorEvents from my loader being used to access the API). Since this class is a singleton and is used from all Views inside the app it is not aware of applications current view. I'm also not sure having this class keep track of the current view and having it push popups on top of it would be best practice.
I'm hoping that I can use PopUpManager to keep track of where to add popups and what popups are currently on the stage. Though all examples I've seen online about this show static Components being used in a views Declarations tag.

Is there a easy way to figure out consistently when a Dialog closes that has been created through PopUpManager. I would have suspected some type of message or callback mechanism, but there does not seem to be. In one case I use the WindowTitle component and event that only fires the CLOSE if someone presses the close and give no message when the dialog actually closes.

I want to be able to show a Spark TitleWindow container as a modal without having to construct it by code via AS3. I tried creating the TitleWindow before-hand manually by dragging and resizing it around and adding objects, etc then hiding it. Then on a button, I set the called function to the ones below:

PopUpManager.addPopUp(testWindow, this, true);

Unfortunately, this only shows testWindow but not as a modal. I want it to be like this so that I can freely resize and design the layout of my TitleWindow and only have to call some function to show it as a modal one.

I'm using the PopUpManager to bring a bunch of event windows up.I want to make it so that only one window can be open at a time, but I don't see anywhere in the code that tracks open windows to set up a conditional. I guess it just creates the windows and then sets them free?Thinking about a windowCount variable that increments when I add a window and decrements when I remove one, but since the PopupManager is called in different classes I'd have to start throwing events all over the place. I can do that, but I'm wondering if there's a more straightforward method?

As the topic states, using a Rich Text Editor with a PopUpManager makes typing slow. If you try it in Firefox/Mac, it is painful. Chrome/Mac is a little slower as well. Are there any known issues with the PopUpManager and performance that can be addressed easily?
