Actionscript 3 :: Simulating A Click Call To A Button(displayObject) Thats Generated Via An API Call?

Nov 2, 2011

I'm having trouble simulating a click call to a button(displayObject) thats generated via an API call( youtube as3 API). I have not seen any mention of security reasons as to why I can not simulate a click as long as something is registered with a click handler. Basically I checked to make sure the button made is listening to a mouse click event with:

trace(generatedButton.hasEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK)) which returns true

I proceed to than call this:

generatedButton.dispatchEvent( new MouseEvent(MouseEvent.CLICK, true) );

And nothing happens yet if I physically click the button it works. Is there some security measure that prevents something from being fake clicked unless its origin is strictly from the system mouse?

I even set a timeout call on the click function and moved my cursor over the button and let it fire in case it was an issue of the mouse having to over the object but still nothing. I am kind of stumped at this point.

ActionScript 3.0 :: DisplayObject And AddChild - Use The Variable OpenType In The Call For The Image??

Nov 24, 2009

I am working on a project where we are making a "wizard" where you answer a series of questions and in the end you are presented with a "parts list" based on your answers.There is also logic which decides which questions you are asked based on how you have answered certain questions so far. The outcome is a list of door control hardware (locks, mounting plates, handles etc. etc.). show a "live image" of the parts list as it builds. For example one of the questions is this: Door Type?

A) Aluminum

B) All Glass

C) Wood

Depending on which you choose I need to show an image of an aluminum, glass or wooden door.Then if the next question is about lock types then your new lock shows up and so on and so forth until you reach the end.The questions all relate to their own variable which are each defined at the beginning of the movie like this:

Code:
var doorType:String = "DT0";

The questions use radio buttons and each question (re)defines it's variable like this

Code:
DT1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, doorTypeHandler);[code]....

Now the tricky part (for me at least) is figuring how in the world to use this in conjunction with the questions (more accurately, the variables they define) to produce this live image.Another thing to add complication to this whole mess is that there are basically two entire sets of images. Single doors or Double doors, they both have (nearly) all the same hardware but they are two different sets of images. They are differentiated by the ot1 or ot2 in front of the class name. The variable openType defines OT1 or OT2 in a previous question. I would like to be able to use the variable openType in the call for the image

Code:
//This is how I tested it
currImage = new ot2_wood_exit();

//I would like to use openType instead of hard coding ot1 or ot2

currImage = new openType_wood_exit(); //I KNOW this is wrong, but I don't know what is right!So that is my basic dilemma. I need to show or hide specific images based on the answers to previously answered questions AND questions currently being answered (live update).

Actionscript 3 :: Flex - Simulating A Click On A Button Inside An Item Renderer Of A Data Grid?

Sep 20, 2010

I'm using a data grid with an item renderer that creates a toggle button. The idea is to have a list of items and only allow one to be selected and pre-select one at start.I've got the single button selection working, meaning that when I click on on toggle button, the others are deselected.My problem is to create a way of pre-selecting an element of the data grid or simulate a click on a row and selecting the corresponding toggle button.If I use the datagrid.selectedIndex the result is a selection but the toggle button doesn't get selected.Here is the code exampleIn this example I am using the array value "selected" to define selected button, not my favourite solution but the one that worked first.The array collection:

public static const ValuesList : ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(
[
{ID:0, Name:"One", selected:false},

Flash :: Call Anonymous Function From ExternalInterface.call() Method?

Nov 4, 2010

I need to get a javascript var in my Flash application. I like to be able to just set a variable in the javascript (client constraints) rather than define a function.

Can this be done? I am trying to use the ExternalInterface.call()

AS:

ExternalInterface.call("function(){return window.someVar}", null);

JS:

var someVar = "Test";

This does not work and I suspect it is because the ExternalInterface.call() does not like the anonymous function.

Javascript :: JS - Call SWF Which Already Is Busy Handling Another Call?

Apr 14, 2012

JS-to-AS3 callbacks work in kinda asynchronous way right? So for example if I ask SWF to download some file, which may take some time (depending on the size of that file), and while it downloads it, ask it to do some other operation (suppose SWF has several callbacks for various purposes), what happens in this case? Does SWF continue to download file and handle my second request in a different thread maybe, or it crashes, or throws some error? I know this is a good case for some testing, but I wonder if anyone has already done that, or maybe there is public info on the case that I cannot find?

Actionscript 3 :: Second Call Won't Really Call The .load() Method?

Jun 8, 2010

I have an issue with my eventListeners with the URLLoader, but this issue happens in IE, not in FF.

public function getUploadURL():void {
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest();
request.url = getPath();[code]....

The issue is that my getBaseURL gets executed automatically after I have executed the code at least once, but that is the case only in IE. What happens is I call my getUploadURL, I make sure the server sends an event that will result in an Event.COMPLETE, so the getBaseURL gets executed, and the listener is removed. If I call the getUploadURL method and put the wrong path, I do not get an Event.COMPLETE but some other event, and getBaseURL should not be executed.

That is the correct behavior in FireFox. In IE, it looks like the load() method does not actually call the server, it jumps directly to the getBaseURL() for the Event.COMPLETE. I checked the willTrigger() and hasEventListener() on _loader before assigning the new URLLoader, and it turns out the event has been well removed.

I simplified my code. To sum up quickly: in FireFox it works well, but in IE, the first call will work but the second call won't really call the .load() method; it seems it uses the previously stored result from the first call.
