I'd like to call a javascript function from an embedded .swf file. Specifically, I'd like to call a function in one of my externally linked javascript files from within: function loadTrack(){
[Code]...
which is in an .as file which I assume somehow becomes the swf file. How would I go about this and 're-compile' the .as file?
I'm using this code to call a actionscript 3 function through javascript

View 1 RepliesI'm loading from my main page an external js file, with a function.
I have a flash file in the main page invoking the javascript function.
Everything worked very well until when the javascript code was in the main file, but when I moved javascript to an external file the function seems not called anymore.
So... there is no way to move the javascript code to an external file ? Or any other solution ?

i want to call a javascript function from within an embeded swf file in a html page and i'm using the ExternalInterface class. i know this function must be defined in a <script> tag in the html page. however, i want to have all my javascript code in an external file, but it doesn't work. my trial file just can't find the function, although i have my external js file linked in the header.

How would I call doWidget(i:int) from the specific widgetRay[] instance clicked, using onClick from the main?
The old way to allow audio to be played/streamed in the browser was a flash button, such as that seen on [URL]. What's the new iPhone-friendly way to give the ability to click on a simple button to listen to an audio file in the browser? If the answer is HTML5, is the such a button built and available? I don't need an MP3 player with steaming and such, only a button.
View 1 Repliesi am not an action script developer nor flash designer, i just want to have a small action script sample that i will edit a little to make it interact with my javascript code. By the way, i want to have a button and a label on a flash form, when the user clicks on this button the onclick event will call another function 'setText for example' this setText() function will change the label text. So i think the code will be something like this:
[Code]....
I managed to put the button and the label i want just the code i will write to make this work.
I want to call flash file (.swf file) on click button in flash file.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to use ExternalInterface.Call to call a JavaScript function to launch a lightbox window. So far I have this:
AS3:
flash.external.ExternalInterface.call("launchLB", "" + aUrl + "");
JavaScript:
function launchLB(url) {
alert(url);
[Code]....
I get the alert but I can't get the lightbox window to display. When my as code makes the ExternalInterface call I get what looks like a page refresh and a blank browser window.
I have a function defined in JavaScript like so:
function fadeBack() {
alert("fadeBack called");
};
I call that function from my Flash file like so:
import flash.external.*;
flash.external.ExternalInterface.call("fadeBack");
This works in both Safari and Chrome, but for some reason Firefox won't ever call the function. Still, I can't figure this out. How can I fix it?
I've a grid view in flex, one of the columns is rendered like this:
[Code]....
now I've a problem that the function in button click is not being recognized. It says "call to a possibly undefined function" even though it was defined. What is wrong with this? How do i make a button in a grid call a function in the same mxml file??
I'm having trouble simulating a click call to a button(displayObject) thats generated via an API call( youtube as3 API). I have not seen any mention of security reasons as to why I can not simulate a click as long as something is registered with a click handler. Basically I checked to make sure the button made is listening to a mouse click event with:
trace(generatedButton.hasEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK)) which returns true
I proceed to than call this:
generatedButton.dispatchEvent( new MouseEvent(MouseEvent.CLICK, true) );
And nothing happens yet if I physically click the button it works. Is there some security measure that prevents something from being fake clicked unless its origin is strictly from the system mouse?
I even set a timeout call on the click function and moved my cursor over the button and let it fire in case it was an issue of the mouse having to over the object but still nothing. I am kind of stumped at this point.
I have a flash file that contains a package "game" which has a class "Scores" and a method setValue(). I want to write some lines of Javascript that allow me to call that method. Someone directed me to this tutorial, but I am still a bit confused.
Javascript: alert("start"); var so; so = document.embeds[0];
so.addParam("allowScriptAccess","always"); import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
ExternalInterface.call("setValue[2600]");
displays an alert to tell me that it has indeed began to execute saves the embedded flash file into a variable and sets access imports that class calls the method.I am not sure about how this class thing works? This is just the bits and pieces I was able to come up with from that site, but I don't really understand how it all works (but certainly hope to eventually).This is the site: http:[url]...how-do-i-access-flash-function-using-javascript.When I execute the code with the importation nothing happens, but the alert does come up when I don't have that statement?
basically I have an MC menu that I want to move to the left when you click and hold on another MC called leftButton, here's what I have.In main timeline:
Code:
menu.moveLeft = function() {
this._x -= 4;

I made 5 buttons on the stage. When these buttons are clicked I want to show AND hide items related to the buttons. Is there a way to "toggle" a simple button so that when it is cliked the first time it shows the object, clicked a second time it hides the object using the same function? In other words, is there a property of a simple button that changes state?

Is there any way to call MouseEvent function in as3 from JavaScript?I have HTML button and swf object, I need to sent a POST request from swf by clicking on HTML button.
View 1 RepliesI want to display a Flash video in a popup window, and when the video has finished playing, close the window using a javascript function "closeIt":
<script>
function closeIt() {
alert("About to close...");
[code]....
How can I achieve this? I have imported a video into Flash (choosing "load external video with playback component"). This is in frame1. I thought that in the second frame I could make a call to ExternalInterface.call("closeIt") in the Actions window. I have tried this, but when I publish and view the flash movie in a web brower, I never see the javascript alert.
I have an ActionScript program that I want to access some external JavaScript functions. By external, I mean that the ActionScript/swf aren't going to be loaded via the HTML/JavaScript. Everything I see recommends ExternalInterface, but that seems to imply that your JS loads your swf. Is there a way to call a JavaScript function by URL?

how to put some kind of onClick listener on a movie clip within an swf. When it is clicked, it calls a JavaScript function within the html document. I am creating an image galery, I just want to creat the thumb viewer in flash and have everything else working through javascript and html.

View 1 RepliesIt took me a while, but I was finally able to get my flash file to call a javascript function on my webpage. I had to add this as2 code:System.security.allowDomain("*");This fixed my problem, but it causes a compiler error:Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 1', Frame 1, Line1119: Access of possibly undefined property security through a reference with static type Class.How do I do allow my domain with as3? I tried Security.allowDomain('*') but that doesn't seem to fix my orginal problem.
View 2 RepliesI have a test where I have to check that when a particular item is selected on a web page, the item is loaded into a flash object on the same page. This being done via Javascript. I have to check whether the parameters being passed to flash by Javascript are correct(i.e. the right item is being passed to flash). The only way I can imagine as of now is to intercept these javascript functions and somehow read their parameters.
View 1 RepliesI can't call a javascript function from flash, when the flash object is added within an OOP structure in javascript. In short the code:
In flash:
if (ExternalInterface.available) {
ExternalInterface.call("flashMessages", "ready");
}
[Code]....
Flash gets loaded, but the call to the javascript function isn't received.
I'm trying to call a function in an action script using the ExternalInterface.addCallback API, but I can't seem to get it to work. Here's what I have:
ActionScript:
//MyClass.as
package {
import flash.display.Sprite;[code]....
The Error I'm getting is: Uncaught TypeError: Object #<HTMLObjectElement> has no method 'getStringJS'
I also tried adding in a timeout in case the swf file wasn't loading, but I didn't have any success with that method either.

How to call a javascript function in the press event ? in as3.0 there is mouseevent but in as1.0 ,
I've been working on this for an hour -Googled it - etc. Still can't do something simple.
I have created text on the stage, then converted it to a button. I want it to return to the first frame, so I added this to the button:
Code:
on(release) {
gotoAndPlay(1);
}
[Code]....
