I have created text on the stage, then converted it to a button. I want it to return to the first frame, so I added this to the button:

Im thinking this is easy but i cant figure it out. See attached file. When the side button is clicked and the user chooses the red or blue button, I want the color name that was chosen to show up and replace the word gray under the side button.The gray Dynamic text box under the side button has an instance name of myCurrentSideColor.

i am not an action script developer nor flash designer, i just want to have a small action script sample that i will edit a little to make it interact with my javascript code. By the way, i want to have a button and a label on a flash form, when the user clicks on this button the onclick event will call another function 'setText for example' this setText() function will change the label text. I need a simple image gallery to load when you click a button. I've tried shadowbox but have had absolutely zero luck. I'm not sure how to load it from a flash file and I know there is work that has to be done outside of flash like in the root folder. All I need is for a simple image gallery, nothing fancy, to open when I hit a button. how to use shadowbox in lamens terms or knows how to easily script a gallery that would be amazing.

I need to have two frames, the first one with a simple button that when clicked loads frame two and on frame two a seperate button that when clicked loads frame one.
When I try using the following type of event handler, i can link from frame 1 to 2, but not back and get an error message:

The old way to allow audio to be played/streamed in the browser was a flash button, such as that seen on [URL]. What's the new iPhone-friendly way to give the ability to click on a simple button to listen to an audio file in the browser? If the answer is HTML5, is the such a button built and available? I don't need an MP3 player with steaming and such, only a button.

I am trying to get a button to do two different functions with one CLICK event. depending were you are on the time line a window should open on close when button is clicked. The problem is it dose it once, opens then closes. I would like it to work every time the button is clicked either open or close depending on the state.
View 5 RepliesI have screen in which I have a button which sets the clip to lower quality, and I also have to have the mouse event in which when the mouse is clicked (anywhere on the screen), this sends you to a different frame (gotoAndStop). The problem is, when I click on the button, not only it does its function, but the mouse event also does. What I want to do basically is to disable the mouse event while pressing the button.

I'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.
I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.
I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after
I've got 20 images and I used this script in each of the frame where it loads the image. Is there a simpler way to load images in to a MC with a button click event?) How do I add a removeChild command here? the images keepon overlapping.

I have created a Flash presentation that includes the standard playback flat > flat grey forward and playback flat > flat grey back buttons from the Windows > Common Libraries > Buttons list. These give me errors when I try to set an event handler to intercept a CLICK event from them. What type ov event should I be trying to set up to handle if CLICK isn't an option?

next_button.swf is as2 and created with adobe flash cs4. there is a single button inside it.
if i change type of button symbol to movieclip at next_button.fla, there is no problem at passing CLICK event.
i tried to cast next_btn to mx.controls.Button and fl.controls.Button classes, next_btn is becoming null in that case.
by the way button is reacting mouseover and click events properly just doesn't pass it to upper swf.
is there any trick i can do to pass Button events to my container swf?
I want to create Flash button that I can use for a dynamic menu.
To do this I have create a new symbol in my Flash project as a button. My button has 2 layers: * one layer with the graphics for the diffrent states (up, down, over, clic) * one layer with a dynamic text control
A have assign a variable name to the dynamic text (menuCaption).
When I put the button on my main scenario, I can change the caption of my menu item with: menuCaption = "some text";
Now I want to add many items to my menu barre, but all items a modified when I assign menuCaption to a value
What do I do wrong? What must I do to be able to assign each item separatly like <item_name>.menuCaption ="some text" ?

After that, if without submitting the details, "Second" is clicked then an alert message should come to inform the user that "First is still in progress, do you want to cancel and begin Second operation". Is there an event that is dispatched when a text input gets clicked (i.e. to add text), but not after text has been added, simply when it is clicked? It won't have changed, and text won't have been entered.

I have created a button symbol in the library that includes adynamic text instance called labelTxt. I've then dragged this ontothe stage to form several buttons called "btn1", "btn2" etc.I want to be able to change the contents of the text on thebuttons dynamically, but I am getting quite a few errors whiletrying to set the text.I have tried using (for example)btn1.labelTxt.text=myString but am getting errors saying that the property isn't defined.uote:1119: Access of possibly undefined property labelTxt througha reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton.would skin a Button and use that but there are 3 quitedifferent styles (skins) of buttons on this particular chart, andI'm not sure how to do that with Buttons. And I keep thinking theremust be some easy way to access the labelTxt dynamic text in thebuttons I have created.

If I have say 7 buttons, each containing text that changes color on rollover using the "Up" "Over" and "Down" keyframes in the buttons' timeline. Is there a simple way to get the button's text to change color when clicked, stay that way, and then change back to the original color once one of the other 6 buttons are clicked?
The only thing I can come up with is writing pages of code for each button that changes the color of every other button regardless of whether it was active.
