Actionscript :: Links To Control Flash Navigation

I am trying to create a link on a page that mimicks the existing flash navigation and get it to work as expected, meaning that when you click the link, the site navigation reflects the change. The problem I'm having is that I don't understand the hierarchy since I'm working from outside the navigation system itself. I can get the animation to change on rollOver and rollOut but when I click the link, the page changes from page1 to page2 but the navigation is still showing page1.

1. I have a flash movie embedded in an html page. When the user clicks on a button in the movie it should open the new in the SAME or CURRENT window NOT in a new tab (leaving that window open).

2. I can't get my block navigation to show the CURRENT link.I want the current link or page on the navigation bar to be a different color than the other links.
I'm able to get the font to change color but I can't get the background or "block color" to change color.

I am trying to add several FLA videos on the same flash page and control them with different navigation buttons.So, Button 1 to play video 1, Button 2 to play video 2, etc .I have already put two navigation buttons and added two videos.However, I need to know Action Script to enable navigation button to do above.

I'm creating a project that is going to be quite text heavy. I'm putting the text into external text files (HTML formatted), so I can change to text without affecting the rest of my project.The problem is I want to have text link (i.e different colored and underlines words) in the text that takes you to other parts of the resource (similar to a hyperlink in a web site). I want the text links to move the movie to a different area of the timeline.

I'm currently building a demo tour in flash, I created a main swf that has an intro and navigation. Each link on the main.swf calls a loadMovie and loads each section with external swf's in an empty movie clip. What I'd like to add is 2 buttons, which are next and back, giving the user the flexibility of going through each section, using these 2 buttons. Its just that since each section is an external swf file, I'm not sure how to script the 2 back and next buttons..

I got a Website.as file that loads 4 library's movie clip's on the stage in certain positions.. Clip_A Clip_B Clip_C Clip_D
Clip_A loads on the top left side , Clip_B on top right , Clip_C in Middle and Clip_D low right position.
What i need to do and understand is how can i tell that class to find a button inside Clip_B and play a certain frame in Clip_C?

I'm trying to make a rollover activated animation ( i think it is 40 frames) and the animation will play, then stop at a predetermined location, when you roll "out" of that button the movie clip should play back to the original(start) position. but if you roll over another button, it will move to position... and react the same with each buttons.I uploaded a fla for a more comprhensive explanation, considering i've been working for the past 15 hours, my englis idn't whud id wons wus.i've tried a few different ways to imitate this, but each has made me mad and i have to have a working demo by friday, otherwise i'd take my time and try a few more methods but i still have the rest of the damn thing to put together, tons of animations.

i created a flash slideshow with pictures of events and link each picture with its own event (ie. each pictures has its own links to the website). I created the fade in and fade out effect using the class motion tween. With the link, I created a layer with a button that has alpha= 0 (so the user don't see it) and then I used code snippet to make another layer with the action script "click to go to url."
When the slideshow goes to the last picture I made it fade out and the first picture of the slideshow would show up and then the slideshow would replay itself (by default?). My goal is to make a continuous slideshow.
When I tested the swf file, the first time it runs, everything is right. The urls and the pictures are in correct order. However when the slideshow replays itself automatically, I notice that the links are incorrect. In the first play, when I click the picture of the event it would open the url of that event.However when the sldieshow replays, clicking the pictures would only open the url of the first event picture. When I click on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.pictures the browser opens only the link of the first picture of the slideshow.

I've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.

Is it possible to control a Flash movie from JS when you have no control over the source? I have decompiled the movie to see its inner workings, but I know nothing about Flash, so I'm mostly in the dark. I found this resource, Interaction with JavaScript, but it's not working for me (probably because I don't know what message to send to the movie).

I have a flex application and have embedded a flash (SWF) file into it using <mx:SWFLoader>. There is an "Exit" button on the Flash file. I want to be able to handle the button click event on the flex application.
So when that button in the flash file is clicked, I want to perform an action in the parent flex application.

I'm writing some code in Flash MX 2004 and everything works fine except for the last button (4DSystemsProducts).According to the coding if none of the drop down buttons work it should go to products.php, but for some reason it goes to 4DSystemsProducts.php. All of the other menus are coded the same way and work fine, if I take out that button it works fine,or if I take out button 7 and switch 4DSystems to button 7 everything works.Here is the code to clear up this explanation. I am trying to have multiple links off site but have hit a brick wall. If I have the code listed below, it opens the second link as soon as you open the links page, If I have the"function onLinkClick (evt)", above btn6_btn I end up with the duplicate error message. Is there a way to have multiple link buttons on a page. I have played with this for hours.

I have created a dynamic accordion style navigation button using both Flash and XML.Everything is set up within a Movieclip called "movie1_mc" on the first keyframe of the Main timeline.Here is the code on the Main timeline:

I have the XML loading at keyframe 15 within that Movieclip which creates seven sub nav buttons.I'm having two issues as of now
1) My Movieclip once rolledOver collapses if I try to select any one of the sub nav buttons
2) When my Movieclip collapses the seven sub nav buttons are still there.

I have a flash file that loads in a external swf. That swf contains a form that I want to control the tab order on. The external swf has form fields in it, and I have their tab indexes set. When I hit tab, flash ignores the flash index, and focuses on some of the navigation elements of the parent .swf. What am I doing wrong?

I have been researching all day and there are many different solutions, none that are straight forward. I am currently in the process of making a website in Dreamweaver which has a flash header. Problem is the flash header reloads when you go to every page. Is there a simple (I'm a noob) way I can get the flash header to stay open at the top of the website, and the content of each page just change when you go to each page. Thus the flash header and nav buttons do not reload on every page. To review the pages so far; [URL]..

I'm trying to find out if you can use an input text fields as navigation?
The idea: If I open my page and then enter (G-12226) or a (MiniGrim) into an input text field is it possible that the flash navigates itself to the Number or Name that is been entered in the input text field, Either automatically or via the touch of a button have no idea what is easiest No idea if this is possible?

I have built a flash navigation menu that plays fine. I exported it and saved it into the root directory of my website.Then I opened the website and added it where I wanted it (on a Template) by selecting Insert>Media>Flash and following the steps.I added the files to my server and am finding something odd. When I open the Template file on the website, it loads the Flash file just fine.[URL] However, when I load any of the pages built from the Template the menu won't load correctly.[URL]

how can we create the navigation bar in flash AS2.0. i need to create a navigation bar with the slider control. I called some .swf files from external folder. Now i want to add the navigation bar for that external files. That navigation bar should get the bytes of loaded .swf files. Then that navigation bar will animate upto the 100%. If i drag the slider, loaded .swf file should controlled by the slider(forward and backward).

I am doing something for a friend, a flash portfolio site, basically what happens right now is that when one of the pictures is clicked the stage zooms in so that the image takes up the entire stage, now on clicking that picture again, the image zooms out... that's all fine, the problem is that when i want to click on another edge of a picture that is also visible at the time when it is zoomed in, the whole thing zooms out
I'm not sure if i have to use an array, or a one more variable or what i have to do..
