I'm putting the text into external text files (HTML formatted), so I can change to text without affecting the rest of my project.The problem is I want to have text link (i.e different colored and underlines words) in the text that takes you to other parts of the resource (similar to a hyperlink in a web site). I want the text links to move the movie to a different area of the timeline.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to create a link on a page that mimicks the existing flash navigation and get it to work as expected, meaning that when you click the link, the site navigation reflects the change. The problem I'm having is that I don't understand the hierarchy since I'm working from outside the navigation system itself. I can get the animation to change on rollOver and rollOut but when I click the link, the page changes from page1 to page2 but the navigation is still showing page1.

I have got a very obscure problem that I cannot for the life of me figure out. I have a flash movie which contains a number of pages which contain dynamic text fields containing HTML read from my database. This works absolutely fine, however for reasons that I cannot understand when you hover over some of my links they move to the right so they are inline with the edge of the first linked image at the bottom. I'm building a kind of CMS system for a site, with PHP and Flash. To start with in a specific section, I'm printing out data in a php page, using the & so they can be read and used in Flash, then I'm writing out the text as html within a dynamic flash field in flash.
Below is how i print out the basic variables for flash in php.

For example, when we rollover the Arizona Link, we want the California and Contact Us links to move BELOW the Arizona rollovers. And same thing for when the California link is rolled over, we want the Contact Us link to move BELOW the California roll overs. I have a vertical menu which is generated via xml. Each menu item also has its own sub menu (not shown). When clicking on the top level item I want the rest of the items to move down to show the sub navigation. i.e.
menu item 1
menu item 2
menu item 3
menu item 4

I have that working fine. Say if I have clicked on menu item 1, and the sub menu is displaying, before i have can view another sub menu I have to click on menu item 1 to close it before I can click on menu item 2.

i am looking to create a set of buttons that slide to a particular place along a very large movie clip. the large movie clip will be made up of smaller movie clips that are attached to the stage within a holding clip. i want there to be easing so that there is a smooth motion and so that it moves quicker if there is a greater distance to travel
View 7 RepliesI've just start working on a project whereby the site will be entirely in flash, have a nav panel down one side, and a content panel down the other. I want some subtle animations on the content as each page is selected (either scroll or fade out) but as each page will have a different background, I'm not sure what the best way to do this is.
My current thinking, would be to put all the 'pages' in one movie clip, animated with each having a fadein, then stop, then a fade out. When a link is pressed, it would play until it encounters a 'stop' (hence, the fadeout frames), then jump to the fade in animation for the link that was clicked.With being new to Flash though, I just thought a) I'd check to see if this is the given way to do this, or if there is a better, standard way, and b) if anyone can give me any tips on coding it. I would imagine it would be onPress(function), then the two instructions?.
I have built a flash navigation menu that plays fine. I exported it and saved it into the root directory of my website.Then I opened the website and added it where I wanted it (on a Template) by selecting Insert>Media>Flash and following the steps.I added the files to my server and am finding something odd. View 4 RepliesI need to develop a site with a navigation SWF file that changes the content of an HTML page, WITHOUT reloading itself and thus losing its current state. What I think I need to do to have smooth transitions, is keep the same swf file loaded, while having it change the page content below it.
I have some complex html content to include in the pages that is not supported by the tags available in Flash's dynamic text boxes. I have considered the idea of iframes, but I don't know how to load iframes using flash, or how to use them without refreshing the page.
I tried searching for an answer but did'nt have much luck. I decided to finally learn how to do a web page in Flash and everything is progressing except for text links. I'm importing a .psd file and I keep the text as editable, the page has 5 text links plus a text logo, the logo text link works when tested (returning to the home page) but the links to the other pages do nothing.
I have tried each one seperately, pointing to both the intended page as well as the home page with no luck, the only one that I can get to work is the logo text. I have also tried grouping the text for links seperate from static text in Photoshop. I'm sure it's something simple and I'm probably over thinking things but whatever the case I can't get it to work.

I am building a website through flash. For the past couple of weeks all of the links have been working fine up until now. I have no idea what I could have possibly done to make this happen. In HTML none of the links work. They are all linked up fine, I even re-linked some of them. Nothing happens. The buttons do nothing.
View 7 RepliesI use Flash 8.I'm making this very simple Nav Box where on certain links open in a new window/tab. Those links work great.But most of the links are set to open in the same window that the Nav Box is on. When saving the SWF and HTML, the links work great.
The problem comes when I place it on other pages/sites. The "Self" links never work. Here are samples.

Unless I'm mistaken, the way flash works, it matters not which server it is on so long as it's directory is public. This enables the flash to be placed on any page (via it's root link / Embedding code) and still have it's buttons work.
I just downloaded a trial of Flash CS5 and made a few text changes on my file then i uploaded the .swf file and all the links are undefined.

I am creating a flipbook application for a magazine. I am using Flash CS4(AS3) to build a navigation interface which contains a UILoader that loads magazine pages in SWF format created by InDesign CS5.Initially I was loading one large SWF file for the magazine pages. Internal links on the table of contents worked great but the load time was ridiculous. Now I am loading individual SWF files for each spread (adjacent pages) and the load time is great, however the links on the table of contents no longer work, which I expected.
The links still appear to be on the page however they don't appear to do anything. I have managed to interrogate the display list objects within the SWF file and the links appear to be of SimpleButton type. Some are even recognized as having HTML significance, they are given an instance name of "Hlnk#" instead of just "Instance#".I think my problem is that I can't/don't know how to get to the event that is triggered by the link/SimpleButton object. If I could see what page it is referencing I could load it.
What is the easiest way (for Fash novice) to navigate back and forth between the slides of presentation made with Flash Slide Presentation feature. Each slide contains animation and plays well the first time but when if I want to back to a slide, it would only show the last frame of that slidI tried many things including making buttons for back and forth and managed to make buttons that fade when you pan over them (big accomplishment:) but can't get them to actually do stuff for me, like go forward and backward.
