I created a mailto link and a hyperlink in my Flash CS4 file. They both work when I test the SWF file. When I test the html file (in any browser) niether work.I get an error saying something about security for the mailto linksHere's the code for both

I am building a website through flash. For the past couple of weeks all of the links have been working fine up until now. I have no idea what I could have possibly done to make this happen. In HTML none of the links work. They are all linked up fine, I even re-linked some of them. Nothing happens. The buttons do nothing.
View 7 RepliesI've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):

a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
I am calling one flash with transparent bg in an HTML page.. Now the HTML links which are below the flash area are not working. So how can I make them work. I knw though I am calling flash with transparent bg but still the object�s area is same.. n all the links which are there on the HTML page that comes under that area stops working as they no longer remain selectable. I have a presentation that I created for a client. The presentation is supposed to work locally on anyone's computer. It works perfect on mine. On the client's three computers, 2 pc and 1 mac the links inside flash do not work. I have a text field with text and a simple link inside like [URL] and it's going to a blank window. These won't even pop up a window for my client on any computer, why? He has the lastest Flash players and we created an html link below the flash movie in the html page just to make sure he could launch a popup that way and the html link below the flash movie worked fine.

I use Flash 8.I'm making this very simple Nav Box where on certain links open in a new window/tab. Those links work great.But most of the links are set to open in the same window that the Nav Box is on. When saving the SWF and HTML, the links work great.
The problem comes when I place it on other pages/sites. The "Self" links never work. Here are samples.

Unless I'm mistaken, the way flash works, it matters not which server it is on so long as it's directory is public. This enables the flash to be placed on any page (via it's root link / Embedding code) and still have it's buttons work.
I am creating a flipbook application for a magazine. I am using Flash CS4(AS3) to build a navigation interface which contains a UILoader that loads magazine pages in SWF format created by InDesign CS5.Initially I was loading one large SWF file for the magazine pages. Internal links on the table of contents worked great but the load time was ridiculous. Now I am loading individual SWF files for each spread (adjacent pages) and the load time is great, however the links on the table of contents no longer work, which I expected.
The links still appear to be on the page however they don't appear to do anything. I have managed to interrogate the display list objects within the SWF file and the links appear to be of SimpleButton type. Some are even recognized as having HTML significance, they are given an instance name of "Hlnk#" instead of just "Instance#".I think my problem is that I can't/don't know how to get to the event that is triggered by the link/SimpleButton object. If I could see what page it is referencing I could load it.
We have a Flash swf object embedded in an html page. When the user sees the page it's just a small button, but on the rollover state the area of the object expands and covers more of the page. This is how it was designed. The problem seems to be that the maximum size of the swf object, even though it's transparent and "invisible" unless the user rolls over the button, blocks out all the underlying html so you can't access any of the links. It's as if the object is covering that part of the page even when it's not expanded. I've tried every publish setting I can imagine to compensate and make the item truly transparent so the "hidden" underlying links will still be clickable, but just can't get it.

The flash file to have stop and play buttons. Correct me if I'm wrong but to do this I would have to render the flash file as an mov, convert that to an flv and import the flv into a new flash file and use THAT swf which will contain the playback component of my choice.
If so Now, the problem is how can I get the links at the end of the file to work as when I convert to mov the actionscript is no longer working.
My problem is that I just recently start working on the company website. They a have menu bar on the side of the website. Some of the links dont work. Where would I find the hyper links in the file to change them to make them work?

This works fine in IE8, it works fine in the preview in flash, but in FF/Chrome the rollovers work but the link is not clickable. Nothing happens on click. I thought this was perhaps a plug in issue, but when I loaded the movie in FF but not embeded into html it worked fine, it's only when it's embedded into html that the links won't click. I have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

I have an intro page that allows users to enter either a high bandwidth (flash) version of the site or a low bandwidth (html) version of the site. The flash has a preloader but it is still quite long for some to load. I was wondering if it is possible and what the best way to have the swf file load behind the scenes on the intro page so that when the use clicks the high bandwidth enterance the swf is already loaded or mostly loaded.

I am a Flash novice and ran into a problem when my Flash generated html file opens in Safari (I'm designing on a Mac) but would not open on a recipient's computer - a PC using IE. I'm using CS5 and set up the file for actionscript 2.0. I know one needs to be sensitive to the various browsers being used, but how does one go about that and how can I begin to troubleshoot my current problem? I didn't use any special coding...I don't know action script yet.
View 3 RepliesUsing Flash CS4 and having the Flash plug-in ver 10 on my PC, the generated html file will not play the swf in the browser.I noticed that the active-x javascript is now included in the header as well as the javascript portion in the body tag.But it won't play. I get the typical blank window in IE with the "X" in the upper left corner.I don't have this problem with Flash CS3.
View 10 RepliesI have Flash CS3. I have created a flash file. If I click on the SWF file I have no problems opening it It plays. It looks nice I'm the man.However, now when I try to publish it, the HTML file will not work. It says "windows cannot find this file,you have typed the location correctly".I am double clicking directly on the file and not typing anything, in fact I was considering checking on Ebay to see if I could upgrade my PC to have eyes.The feature has worked previously, which leads me to the conclusion that something else has changed. I have tried using the publish setting, I have also tried using Dreamweaver to embed the file, and have also tried manually inserting the necessary code after seeing some on a website.

What is the size of the browser's area for viewing any content(i mean the parts below the navigation tabs to start menu)? How can i adjust my project to this? Note: My html settings seems true, it says "center center" but i dont know how to solve this.
I currently pull an html file into our site via iframe. (due to various factors, I cannot host the information in the html on our site and need to host it elsewhere). Is it possible to use a loader or other method to pull this information into flash?
