I am very new to Flash and actually our graphic designer created this small flash timeline here:[URL]..For some reason when I test it in Firefox the Close button and the links do not work. Also I know of one person who has the same issue in IE. Most others using IE have no problem what so ever. The actionscript for the close button is:

The ad on the bottom right of the screen (the one with lightning flashing) has an invisible button in its Flash file (CS5) linking to [URL]. This file is imported as SWF in Dreamweaver CS5.
The hyperlink works in Firefox, but not in Safari. Maybe it is just my computer.
The latest versions of firefox and Safari both cannot display email links. For some reason they don't parse ou the "mailto:".

View 1 Repliesi have created a photo gallery using AS3 in Flash CS5. I have used prevFrame() and nextFrame() actions for "previous photo" and "next photo" buttons as well as for "previous thumbnails" and "next thumbnails" buttons.
All the buttons work fine when i run the swf files as well as when i run the swf files in Firefox 8.0 and IE9. However, once I insert this swf file into my html file using Dreamweaver CS5->Insert->Media->swf, the "previous" buttons dont work in Firefox 8.0! the previous image button works sometimes whereas the previous thumbnails button does not work at all They work fine in IE9. The next buttons also work fine in every browser. Heres my code:

I downloaded flash to my new computer and videos will work using IE but when I try with firefox it acts as if I don't have it installed (says "download flash here,etc. ) and videos wont play.

My problem is that I just recently start working on the company website. They a have menu bar on the side of the website. Some of the links dont work. Where would I find the hyper links in the file to change them to make them work?

I have no idea what I could have possibly done to make this happen. In HTML none of the links work. They are all linked up fine, I even re-linked some of them. Nothing happens. The buttons do nothing.
View 7 RepliesI use Flash 8.I'm making this very simple Nav Box where on certain links open in a new window/tab. Those links work great.But most of the links are set to open in the same window that the Nav Box is on. When saving the SWF and HTML, the links work great.
The problem comes when I place it on other pages/sites. The "Self" links never work. Here are samples.

Unless I'm mistaken, the way flash works, it matters not which server it is on so long as it's directory is public. This enables the flash to be placed on any page (via it's root link / Embedding code) and still have it's buttons work.
I created a flash movie and published it to get the html file and the swf. The html file works fine on my local computer that I created it on but I went to email the html file with the swf file, the links within the movie are not working?
View 7 RepliesI am creating a flipbook application for a magazine. I am using Flash CS4(AS3) to build a navigation interface which contains a UILoader that loads magazine pages in SWF format created by InDesign CS5.Initially I was loading one large SWF file for the magazine pages. Internal links on the table of contents worked great but the load time was ridiculous. Now I am loading individual SWF files for each spread (adjacent pages) and the load time is great, however the links on the table of contents no longer work, which I expected.
The links still appear to be on the page however they don't appear to do anything. I have managed to interrogate the display list objects within the SWF file and the links appear to be of SimpleButton type. Some are even recognized as having HTML significance, they are given an instance name of "Hlnk#" instead of just "Instance#".I think my problem is that I can't/don't know how to get to the event that is triggered by the link/SimpleButton object. If I could see what page it is referencing I could load it.

I created a mailto link and a hyperlink in my Flash CS4 file. They both work when I test the SWF file. When I test the html file (in any browser) niether work.I get an error saying something about security for the mailto linksHere's the code for both

works perfect on my macbook pro (safari, firefox, and opera) but when I view the site on Vmare Fusion Windows XP and use IE and FireFox the pages don't load... I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.

View 1 RepliesI've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
I've noticed a bug with the new firefox 4 and Mac os x.
I can't post here a link because i don't have enough posts. But if you use a mac and Firefox 4, could you make this simple test.
See a flash animation online and see that when you mouse over a link, the cursor doesn't transform with a hand cursor.
If you try with chrome, safari, camino, it works.

Nothing has changed, no editing was done, and all of a sudden, buttons not working. I trued exporting from Flash again, with the same pblish settings. Bit Action Script seems to give me a message now saying it wont export as a button. Tried AS 2.0 and 3.0, but i made original files in 3.0

View 4 RepliesI've created a banner and made the whole area clickable with an invisible button. But there's one small element in that banner I'd like to give a roll over state for extra fun. This element doesn't need a link hooked to it just to change colour when moused over. When I put the invisible button on top, it blocks the element on top the invisible button is not working either. Since it's a banner I have the document set up in as2.
View 4 Repliesi have an swf placed into a html doc - the swf creates thumbnails and links that create a sort of videowall effect - the links come via xml. i am using lightwindow to create an overlay that displays the links/images/video etc... so here is the problem - if i open it with firefox on a mac - and choose say the youtube link - it opens lightwindow brings in the flv briefly - then the flv vanishes leaving a white void where the player should.
but if i add the same link to the html and click it, that works as it should do - ie the youtube flv apprears and you can click and play it etc... Safari on a mac works a treat - and loads and then plays the flv. is this just a bug in FF for the mac - or mac&pc? doesn't FF like flash and youtube together or something? or is there a work around? my tester is here could any pc heads tell me if the lightwindow works at all on their windows browsers? and tell me what versions you are on?
I'm updating my website and my menu buttons have an animation on the mouseOver. A simple animated button with the "Up", "Over", "Down" and "Hit" keyframes.
www.brenda-nies.com will show the effect of my menu buttons and the effect I want to keep. Part of my updates are switching to AS3 and that's where my problem comes in. You can't see it on the website I gave you, but in my working file, when I test it (in IE8), everything starts out fine when I first rollover my button, the animation runs through it's cycle and stops. However, if I press down on the mouse button, the animation starts over. The same when I release the mouse button, the animation starts over. I want the animation to run through 1 cycle and stop, then stay stopped until I roll off the button.
I am working on a Flash file and some of the buttons in the document are not working.When I test the movie the hand cursor appears when I hover over the buttons they don't change colour (as specified in the over state) and the actions don't work. Not sure what is going on here as I created other buttons in the same document the same way and they work fine.
View 3 RepliesI have a picture with an invisible button, once clicked on the button runs a movieclip with an instance - box1, once its opened a close button appeared, called closeBtn1 and the idea is when thats clicked, for box1 to gotoAndPlay frame 80, but no matter where I put the code it doesnt seem to let the closeBtn work! Even trace actions aren't getting recognised![code]as u can see I'm trying to trace even if the closeBtn gets rolled over but to no avail.I have also tried it from scene level and still no joy.
View 7 RepliesI have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.
View 1 RepliesI have an _Xslide gallery that I need to make each photo link to an absolute URL. Works fine on IE but FireFox dosnt function at all. I can get it to work if I "_blank" but then it is applied to both browsers. The requirement is that the gallery function in the same window for all browsers.This swf is hosted in an "included" html file...where the swf does not live in the same directory...although I have tried that also but to no avail.

ive created my website and majority of it is flash. The problem is it that it works in every other browser except mozilla firefox and I usually get the message saying i need to install the latest flash version or update. I did that and it still doesnt work. It is my portfolio website so i need to resolve this on my end so when potential clients or employers look at it it works and they dont need to change any settings if that is the problem...but i also tried that and it didnt work (making it a trusted site, enabled javascprt)
View 3 RepliesI've added a "Close" button to my skin here: [URL]. Please click on "Animalia - Verse From The Zoo" to load the Skin. The "Close" button I've added to the skin is not doing anything. I want the "Close" button to close everything - the skin and the FLV - so that you're back to the five icons. Clicking on "Animalia" successfully uses the AS3 LOADER CLASS to load the Skin and FLV. The AS3 code which successfully loads the skin when you click on "Animalia" is:

I copied the SKIN FLA file from the FLASH CS4 AS3 FLA SKINS FOLDER and built the "Close" button myself. And I've also added:
this.Close_Animal.x = 126;
this.CloseButton = "flash.bleah";
To the Skin FLA.
Which seems to have made the "Close" button appear at runtime. Flash won't accept any of the pre-programmed "fl.video" classes for the "CloseButton". And my knowledge there is lacking. IF that's the reason the close button is not working, I'm not sure. Any way to make the "Close" button on the skin close EVERYTHING (Skin AND FLV - so that you're back to the five icons as they were BEFORE you clicked "Animalia")?
