I am building a website through flash. For the past couple of weeks all of the links have been working fine up until now. I have no idea what I could have possibly done to make this happen. In HTML none of the links work. They are all linked up fine, I even re-linked some of them. Nothing happens. The buttons do nothing.

I've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
I am calling one flash with transparent bg in an HTML page.. Now the HTML links which are below the flash area are not working. So how can I make them work. I knw though I am calling flash with transparent bg but still the object�s area is same.. n all the links which are there on the HTML page that comes under that area stops working as they no longer remain selectable. I have a presentation that I created for a client. The presentation is supposed to work locally on anyone's computer. It works perfect on mine. On the client's three computers, 2 pc and 1 mac the links inside flash do not work. I have a text field with text and a simple link inside like [URL] and it's going to a blank window. These won't even pop up a window for my client on any computer, why? He has the lastest Flash players and we created an html link below the flash movie in the html page just to make sure he could launch a popup that way and the html link below the flash movie worked fine.
View 3 RepliesI use Flash 8.I'm making this very simple Nav Box where on certain links open in a new window/tab. Those links work great.But most of the links are set to open in the same window that the Nav Box is on. When saving the SWF and HTML, the links work great.
The problem comes when I place it on other pages/sites. The "Self" links never work. Here are samples.

Unless I'm mistaken, the way flash works, it matters not which server it is on so long as it's directory is public. This enables the flash to be placed on any page (via it's root link / Embedding code) and still have it's buttons work.
I am creating a flipbook application for a magazine. I am using Flash CS4(AS3) to build a navigation interface which contains a UILoader that loads magazine pages in SWF format created by InDesign CS5.Initially I was loading one large SWF file for the magazine pages. Internal links on the table of contents worked great but the load time was ridiculous. Now I am loading individual SWF files for each spread (adjacent pages) and the load time is great, however the links on the table of contents no longer work, which I expected.
The links still appear to be on the page however they don't appear to do anything. I have managed to interrogate the display list objects within the SWF file and the links appear to be of SimpleButton type. Some are even recognized as having HTML significance, they are given an instance name of "Hlnk#" instead of just "Instance#".I think my problem is that I can't/don't know how to get to the event that is triggered by the link/SimpleButton object. If I could see what page it is referencing I could load it.
I'm writing HTML text into a dynamically created text field - the text and links appear perfectly, the css styling works and they change colour when you rollover them just as they should.However suddenly they've stopped actually launching the link, I don't get the mouse pointer when I rollover, I just get the select tool and when I click, nothing happens.
View 3 RepliesI had to create a flash file which has animations, an audio track and at the end a set of html links.
The flash file to have stop and play buttons. Correct me if I'm wrong but to do this I would have to render the flash file as an mov, convert that to an flv and import the flv into a new flash file and use THAT swf which will contain the playback component of my choice.
If so Now, the problem is how can I get the links at the end of the file to work as when I convert to mov the actionscript is no longer working.
My problem is that I just recently start working on the company website. They a have menu bar on the side of the website. Some of the links dont work. Where would I find the hyper links in the file to change them to make them work?

View 7 RepliesI have a huge problem. I have a menu in Flash MX (AS2), it's pretty straightforward: It's a list of links but each time you mouseover one several related ones highlight (the client really wanted this). The code on each button is:

This works fine in IE8, it works fine in the preview in flash, but in FF/Chrome the rollovers work but the link is not clickable. Nothing happens on click. I thought this was perhaps a plug in issue, but when I loaded the movie in FF but not embeded into html it worked fine, it's only when it's embedded into html that the links won't click. I am very new to Flash and actually our graphic designer created this small flash timeline here:[URL]..For some reason when I test it in Firefox the Close button and the links do not work. Also I know of one person who has the same issue in IE. Most others using IE have no problem what so ever. The actionscript for the close button is:

I have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

i have created some flash banners with a url embedded in them, so when they are placed on a web page the banner links through to my website when clicked. Fairly simple.But, i tested them on a website on my server to link to another website on the server and they worked fine. When i gave them to a client to embed on their own website (the flash files are hosted on my server still), the links no longer work.
Is this a security issue to stop the links working? i also checked it in linux and the banners worked, but in windows they do not. I dont want the client to have their own local copy of the flash file, as i may update it in the future and dont want to chase up lots of different copies everywhere.
I am a newbie to Flash. I am working on a template website with a deadline. I was able to change the text, remove items I did not need and add some additional text.....but I cannot get any of the links in either of the two top flash animations (the menu and the header) to work. I am using Flash CS4 (and Dreamweaver CS4). I have tried to add a link to the text, and in the AS. But then they do not seem to be working at all.

My website links and 2 out of 6 pdf's don't load when I test the movie in Dreamweaver.As far as I can tell everything is correct and all of the names are correct.Each button has an instance name and has been modified.Are there any other possibilities? Here is a sample of the script

I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):

a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.

The .swf needs to be able to grab image files from a directory hosted on the server
The .swf file needs to be able to change the URL

View 4 RepliesI've made a basic RSS news feed widget with a preloader. When I test the preloader in Flash it works fine, counting to 100% and bringing in the widget proper at the end. This happens both if I test the movie outright or simulate the download.
But now I've embedded the preloader in an HTML file using swfobject 2.2, and the browser will only display the first frame of the preloader and go no further, ie it 'freezes' at 0%. When I open the actual preloader .swf file, it's the same - it just stops at 0% even though it worked fine previously when
I exported it from its .fla file.Weird thing is, if I bypass the preloader and embed the widget file in my HTML, it works fine. This is for an assignment however, and I need to build a preloader as part of the criteria.All files (ie the widget .fla and .swf, the html and the preloader .fla and .swf) are in the same folder. Someone advised me when I made a bitmap in the preloader into a movie clip to uncheck the "export in frame 1" box, so I did this. It didn't work. Then someone else advised me to make sure the textbox containing the percentage count was a classic textbox with dynamic text. I did, and it's still not working.

Using Flash CS3 and created a navbar with AS 3. All links work fine to open html pages, but I'm having trouble targeting the pages to a specific frame.
I've checked and re-checked code in my actions layer and in my html pages.
Code for AS 3 is "navigateToURL(galleries, "_content");" "Galleries" is the variable for the URLRequest and "content" is the name of the target frame in the Index page. All files are local on my computer and the paths are correct.
We have a Flash swf object embedded in an html page. When the user sees the page it's just a small button, but on the rollover state the area of the object expands and covers more of the page. This is how it was designed. The problem seems to be that the maximum size of the swf object, even though it's transparent and "invisible" unless the user rolls over the button, blocks out all the underlying html so you can't access any of the links. It's as if the object is covering that part of the page even when it's not expanded. I've tried every publish setting I can imagine to compensate and make the item truly transparent so the "hidden" underlying links will still be clickable, but just can't get it.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to get my flash movie to pop out of the box, so I have an opaque background of 500 x 400, but the stage size (the total overall size) is 1000 x 800. Then I use a DIV tag to place the flash movie over the rest of my page, making it seem like the flash movie is only 500 x 400 but some items can pop out to anywhere inside the 1000 x 800. Up to here it works fine, but the problem is you can't click the HTML links that are beneath the transparent part of the flash movie. Is there a way to make the links clickable?
View 0 RepliesNot sure if I'm in the right place, I apologize in advance if so. I'm somewhat proficient with html, but fairly new to flash, using cs4pro, as3.Here's my dilemma. Converting an existing html/css site to flash. Flash is main site now but a few html pages are still linked, a buy page and a form page, a few others. I can get the all the external html pages to link to a frame in the flash movie, and I can get the flash to link with all external urls.My problem comes when I move to a frame outside the main timeline. The movie is lets say 393 frames. All symbols/content are on seperate layers, and so is the action. Once the full movie ends, I have several frames past that where I have basically created frames for additional "pages" and created anchors for those frames, new layes for content, new layers for anchor (labeled) and new layers for a stop(); on each frame, I extended the pertinant graphic frames out to 410 from the original movie.
Now when the movies runs the buttons appear at about frame 115, so in the action layer I coded a keyframe and then added frames of it out to frame 410 or so: I have attached the .fla (not able to attach at this forum .fla here:s say to an external link (button) like members, the html member page opens, and if you click home button, back to flash frame, and all works, all buttons, on the home frame 393. But if you go to any of the external htmls, and then go back to any other frame like frame 401 the about page, and all the rest 402 403, etc, the page appears properly, but then none of the links function.
