I have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
I've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
Ran into some problems when a client asked me to use the xml that is created from an admin where the user can format the text as she or he wants it. With bold, italic, insert link and so on. Doing all that in a frame in the browser that is. As you would guess from a proper admin tool more or less.

I have come across a bizarre Flash problem with dynamic text fields. I built a site in flash for a designer about a million years ago. The content in her portfolio's dynamic text fields loads from plain .txt files. The fields, which were set to parse simple html tags, used to do so perfectly. At least the last time I checked in April of 2006. The designer just contacted me last week: one of the fields is no longer parsing the html. ?! I opened the original .fla and it is definitely set to do so. Why would this suddenly stop working?[code]
View 3 RepliesI have an application that was written with Flash Professional 8/AS2 and it parses XML for rendering dynamic media content. The XML pulls text with HTML markup out of CDATA sections and places them into an html enabled text field. Everything has worked wonderfully until Flash Player 10.
Now, if we use html escape characters for greater than or less than symbols, they are being decoded by the xml parser.
Here's my example CDATA section:

when I grab its value using nodeValue or toString, the results are different from Flash Player 9 to 10. Here's what I'm getting:

In Flash 10, if I escape the ampersand, it will work, but this doesn't work in 9. for example, the following works in 10:

This all happens before I assign it to a text field. How do I keep the parser from destroying my escaped characters in Flash 10? Do I just need to drop support for Flash Player 9 and go for what works in 10, or is there a solution for both?

I had to create a flash file which has animations, an audio track and at the end a set of html links.
The flash file to have stop and play buttons. Correct me if I'm wrong but to do this I would have to render the flash file as an mov, convert that to an flv and import the flv into a new flash file and use THAT swf which will contain the playback component of my choice.
If so Now, the problem is how can I get the links at the end of the file to work as when I convert to mov the actionscript is no longer working.
I made these Flash movies( the 4 at the top of the page). The links don't work live, but did work as a stand alone while making.

The .swf needs to be able to grab image files from a directory hosted on the server
The .swf file needs to be able to change the URL

I've done this using a MovieMaterial and the html text renders perfectly as one would expect, except that any Code: Select all<a href=""> tags used in the html aren't working? Has anybody else experienced this problem? I've set the material to Code: Select allinteractive=true and that's working because buttons on the same material are working, just the html links aren't.

Is there any graceful way one could have Flash leave FULLSCREEN mode (return to NORMAL) when a user clicks on a link formatted with HTML which opens a new (_blank) window? Currently, it opens the new window but remains in fullscreen mode (focus remaining on the current), so you never notice the window or have any indication that a window opened until you return to NORMAL.
It would be easy enough to do this with other buttons by throwing it into the MouseEvent handler function, but as far as I know HTML-formatted links (ones created with the <a> tag in an HTML TextField) only dispatch an event if the URL prefix is "event:", according to the docs:
Dispatched when a user clicks a hyperlink in an HTML-enabled text field, where the URL begins with "event:".
I suppose I can just throw the actual URL into the 'text' property of the LINK event and open a new window from there....but I was hoping there was a better way?
(Actually, now that I think about it, maybe in future projects I will create a simple urlOpener utility class which does exactly this, and handle *all* links this way so they go through a common funnel....)

According to what I've read and what my code is, this should work. It should read the value of video as the value of _root.tester (check the HTML code), yet it's always listed as undefined.
I'm using Flex 4 and I need to render the data that resembles HTML Table with row span in a Flex component.My inclination was to use a DataGrid but I believe that rowSpan is not supported for that component. I looked at the AdvancedDataGrid but the user does not want to have a tree-structure in any of the columns. Looking to see if there are any hints/tips for modifying the DataGrid or AdvancedDataGrid to produce an "HTML Table with rowspan" look.
