Feb 1, 2011I have come across a bizarre Flash problem with dynamic text fields. I built a site in flash for a designer about a million years ago. The content in her portfolio's dynamic text fields loads from plain .txt files. The fields, which were set to parse simple html tags, used to do so perfectly. At least the last time I checked in April of 2006. The designer just contacted me last week: one of the fields is no longer parsing the html. ?! I opened the original .fla and it is definitely set to do so. Why would this suddenly stop working?[code]

Nov 24, 2010I have an application that was written with Flash Professional 8/AS2 and it parses XML for rendering dynamic media content. The XML pulls text with HTML markup out of CDATA sections and places them into an html enabled text field. Everything has worked wonderfully until Flash Player 10.
Now, if we use html escape characters for greater than or less than symbols, they are being decoded by the xml parser.
Here's my example CDATA section:
Here <u>we</u> go: This <node> <works>
when I grab its value using nodeValue or toString, the results are different from Flash Player 9 to 10. Here's what I'm getting:

In Flash 10, if I escape the ampersand, it will work, but this doesn't work in 9. for example, the following works in 10:
<![CDATA[Here <u>we</u> go: This <node> <works>]]>
This all happens before I assign it to a text field. How do I keep the parser from destroying my escaped characters in Flash 10? Do I just need to drop support for Flash Player 9 and go for what works in 10, or is there a solution for both?
Html :: Flash Movie That Reads Html Values And Rotates Them Every 10 Seconds?
Mar 5, 2010I was wondering if it is possible to create a flash movie that rotates values that are stored in HTML. For example if i have these 3 containers:

<span class="text1">text1</span>[code].....
I want to have some flash movie rotate these values every 10 seconds. I don't want to program it hard into flash, it has to be variable. It has to display the first set, then after 10 sec the second, and so on.Maybe if it is possible something that stops the toggle, and skip to just the second, or just the third.I also don't want to use javascript to do this (jQuery etc.), because this conflicts with another timer on the website.Is there a way of doing this?

Oct 25, 2009I have a flash banner1.swf (AS2) on [URL] (html-file)
How do I send 4 values from banner.swf to banner2.swf?
- banner2.swf is on another domain
- send the values to [URL] (php-file)
- And output the values into textfields on banner2.swf
- Inside banner2.swf I also want to make all the comparison and editing of the values.

Is there any way to only send the values directly to banner2.swf without using any PHP script in test.php? The problem I get is that banner2.swf doesn't catch any values. How do receive the sent values into banner2.swf? Do I have to have banner1.swf in php-file and banner2.swf in php-file? Is there any difference if both the swf:s are on the same domain or not?

Apr 26, 2011I have piece of ActionScript code which is supposed to evaluate a string of HTML and break it up into individual pieces. So a string like <p>Hi</p><span>Hi</span><a href="index.php">Hi</a> would be translated into:
1. <p>Hi</p>
2. <span>Hi</span>
3. <a href="index.php">Hi</a>
...
However, when I run a test version of this code, I get a value of null in return. I'm pretty sure my regexp string is good, but I'm doing something wrong in ActionScript. My code is below:

Aug 19, 2009It's been a about seven years since I have done any work with Flash but now my employer is asking me to create a custom online magazine tool (we're publishers). I've been immersed in PHP and AJAX and building Mac apps with XCode so I've got a bit of a relearning curve to go through.
Anyway, I'm pulling in some XML into a Flash file and want to display some of the various node values in a dynamic text box. That was easy enough, AS3 makes it a charm compared to the dark old days. The problem I am running into is displaying the values - its kind of a runsheet for a magazine - num of pages, ads, features, etc. etc. and I want to display that in one text box in a list type format. So I have something like this:

Oct 20, 2011anyone knows how to pass an array values from an HTML into flash? Well, to begin I'll discuss what am I doing. I edited a twitter widget javascript which search tweets based on the hashtag I needed then passing it on an array per tweet and then displaying it using a <div> it updates once every 5 minutes. Now I want to display those tweets on a dynamic text on Flash. Let's say I will have 5 dynamic text placed on my flash file then; I want each of those dynamic text to have the tweets I have based on on my HTML arrays to be displayed in random.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Parsing XML To Flash?
Sep 26, 2008This is my first day to try and use XML to display dynamic text in Flash. My skillset is weak with AS3 and Flash, but I found some tutorials online and I have managed to successfully display the first record in mytest.swf. However I also seem to have all records displaying in each dynamic text box as well. My loop isn't stopping after each record. It's reading everything. And dumping the results into each text field.
I need to only display each record individually. Once I accomplish that, I will need to include some form of navigation. Lets say buttons that perform a NEXT, PREVIOUS, LAST, FIRST type function. Then lastly, I'll need to include some type of search navigation option by item number. I assume that I'd have to have a second screen that links to my primary results screen with an input form for the item number.

I used the typical XML parsing code in as2;

I was doing pretty good until I reached a node that was formatted thus;

This text traced a value of undefined.I have tried to research this and so far all I have been able to find out, is that this is a XML namespace and is very easily handled in as3. Unfortunately I have to use as2.How do I parse out this information into a dyamic text fields?
