I can't figure out how to get an html link to show up in Flash. I know that I need to use a CDATA function but It will not show up as a link in my Flash file. I have selected the dynamic text field called "d_desc" and clicked the box "render text as html".[code]
View 1 RepliesI've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
I want to add links to 3 different external html pages in the place of th 3 my trial links(which are on the timeline) Here is code, this creates the three buttons listed in var catBtmmenu_label Array:

I have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
I have a main file,which loads some external swf files.These external swf files load some html text in dynamic textfields.These html texts also contain links.Is it possible, to link in one of the external swfs,using html?

I am building a website through flash. For the past couple of weeks all of the links have been working fine up until now. I have no idea what I could have possibly done to make this happen. In HTML none of the links work. They are all linked up fine, I even re-linked some of them. Nothing happens. The buttons do nothing.

I had to create a flash file which has animations, an audio track and at the end a set of html links.
The flash file to have stop and play buttons. Correct me if I'm wrong but to do this I would have to render the flash file as an mov, convert that to an flv and import the flv into a new flash file and use THAT swf which will contain the playback component of my choice.
If so Now, the problem is how can I get the links at the end of the file to work as when I convert to mov the actionscript is no longer working.
I made these Flash movies( the 4 at the top of the page). The links don't work live, but did work as a stand alone while making.

I'm making a flash website, I know the basics of html and AS3, but this is my first time trying to use them together. I need only two interactions between the swf file and the server:
The .swf needs to be able to grab image files from a directory hosted on the server
The .swf file needs to be able to change the URL

I've done this using a MovieMaterial and the html text renders perfectly as one would expect, except that any Code: Select all<a href=""> tags used in the html aren't working? Has anybody else experienced this problem? I've set the material to Code: Select allinteractive=true and that's working because buttons on the same material are working, just the html links aren't.

I knw though I am calling flash with transparent bg but still the object�s area is same.. n all the links which are there on the HTML page that comes under that area stops working as they no longer remain selectable. Is there any graceful way one could have Flash leave FULLSCREEN mode (return to NORMAL) when a user clicks on a link formatted with HTML which opens a new (_blank) window? Currently, it opens the new window but remains in fullscreen mode (focus remaining on the current), so you never notice the window or have any indication that a window opened until you return to NORMAL.
It would be easy enough to do this with other buttons by throwing it into the MouseEvent handler function, but as far as I know HTML-formatted links (ones created with the <a> tag in an HTML TextField) only dispatch an event if the URL prefix is "event:", according to the docs:
Dispatched when a user clicks a hyperlink in an HTML-enabled text field, where the URL begins with "event:".
I suppose I can just throw the actual URL into the 'text' property of the LINK event and open a new window from there....but I was hoping there was a better way?
(Actually, now that I think about it, maybe in future projects I will create a simple urlOpener utility class which does exactly this, and handle *all* links this way so they go through a common funnel....)
Using Flash CS3 and created a navbar with AS 3. All links work fine to open html pages, but I'm having trouble targeting the pages to a specific frame.
I've checked and re-checked code in my actions layer and in my html pages.
Code for AS 3 is "navigateToURL(galleries, "_content");" "Galleries" is the variable for the URLRequest and "content" is the name of the target frame in the Index page. All files are local on my computer and the paths are correct.
How on earth do I get the HTML links inside a flash movie open up in the same browser window where said movie is embedded in (As opposed to opening up as a new pop-up windows)? Here is the code I have inside each of the buttons I have inside my flash movie:

We have a Flash swf object embedded in an html page. When the user sees the page it's just a small button, but on the rollover state the area of the object expands and covers more of the page. This is how it was designed. The problem seems to be that the maximum size of the swf object, even though it's transparent and "invisible" unless the user rolls over the button, blocks out all the underlying html so you can't access any of the links. It's as if the object is covering that part of the page even when it's not expanded. I've tried every publish setting I can imagine to compensate and make the item truly transparent so the "hidden" underlying links will still be clickable, but just can't get it.
View 1 RepliesI have a presentation that I created for a client. The presentation is supposed to work locally on anyone's computer. It works perfect on mine. On the client's three computers, 2 pc and 1 mac the links inside flash do not work. I have a text field with text and a simple link inside like [URL] and it's going to a blank window. These won't even pop up a window for my client on any computer, why? He has the lastest Flash players and we created an html link below the flash movie in the html page just to make sure he could launch a popup that way and the html link below the flash movie worked fine.
View 3 RepliesI've designed a slide show player using Actionscript 3.0 which loads several external images. While the images are loading, the HTML links on my page (outside of the Flash movie) don't work. As soon as all the images are loaded, the links start working again. It seems like the Flash player is hijacking the browser while the images are loading which can take the better part of a minute depending on my connection speed. I can click an HTML link once during the loading time and as soon as the images have loaded, the browser loads the new page (the one the HTML links to). Once all the images are in my Temporary Internet Files folder, this problem ceases to exist (since the images no longer need to be downloaded)

I have a huge problem. I have a menu in Flash MX (AS2), it's pretty straightforward: It's a list of links but each time you mouseover one several related ones highlight (the client really wanted this). The code on each button is:

This works fine in IE8, it works fine in the preview in flash, but in FF/Chrome the rollovers work but the link is not clickable. Nothing happens on click. I thought this was perhaps a plug in issue, but when I loaded the movie in FF but not embeded into html it worked fine, it's only when it's embedded into html that the links won't click. Is there any way to create links inside large textfields without setting the textfield as an HTML textfield? I don't want to set the link to all the text in the textfield, only to some words in the text.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to get my flash movie to pop out of the box, so I have an opaque background of 500 x 400, but the stage size (the total overall size) is 1000 x 800. Then I use a DIV tag to place the flash movie over the rest of my page, making it seem like the flash movie is only 500 x 400 but some items can pop out to anywhere inside the 1000 x 800. Up to here it works fine, but the problem is you can't click the HTML links that are beneath the transparent part of the flash movie. Is there a way to make the links clickable?
