Sep 14, 2009I'm writing some code in Flash MX 2004 and everything works fine except for the last button (4DSystemsProducts).According to the coding if none of the drop down buttons work it should go to products.php, but for some reason it goes to 4DSystemsProducts.php. All of the other menus are coded the same way and work fine, if I take out that button it works fine,or if I take out button 7 and switch 4DSystems to button 7 everything works.Here is the code to clear up this explanation. Jan 6, 2010The buttons in the flash movie also link to movie frames in the flash and external html pages. Once movie plays and stops, all links work fine, the links to the anchors and the links to the other html pages, however when I try and link back to the flash movie from an external html page, to specific frames in the flash movie, the html link will link back to flash movie frame fine, however once your back in the flash movie, none of the buttons in the movie work anymore.I have embedded the flash movie in an HTML and published it with anchors,"home, about, events etc.used this code for several buttons in the flash linking to frame anchors in the movie:

Professional :: Close Buttons And Url Links Not Working In FireFox?

Aug 31, 2010I'm currently attempting to link buttons to other frames in the movie. I've tried tutorials and just can't seem to get my code to do what I want. The issue is that the buttons are inside a movieclip, and I'm trying to link them to frames in the main movie (Scene 1).

May 23, 2010i m using flash player 8 and when im trying to make a link button of my ready tamplate im getting an error. i program the link action like this:

Oct 5, 2007I have a small flash movie with three buttons I would like to link to three different URLs. My code for these is below, however, when I test the movie there is a namespace error (copied below). I assume this is because both buttons are trying to use the same variable but I have no idea how to make this work in AS3.
where i need to make changes so the code understand that "thisButton" should take the user to URL#1 and "thatButton" should take the user to URL#2?
This is for my own site and I have to use AS3 as there is an FLV on it as well which requires AS3 to be viewed.

Flash :: Buttons/links On Or In Object?
Jun 3, 2009I have no idea how to ask this question properly. I am only designing this, not making it, so simple answers for me would be good, but also technical answers that I can pass on to the flash person.
On my home page, I am going to have 3 images that switch out, each that need to have a "learn more >" link and a 1, 2, 3, and pause buttons.My question is whether or not these image buttons/links can be placed on or embedded in the flash object. I read this is not possible and that buttons or links have to be separate from flash. Ideally if I wanted to place a "go" button on top of my flash image, that would be great.
However I have been told the only option is to make one side of this in photoshop where I have the buttons and then place that next to the flash image. My example of this would be the msn.com home page.

Professional :: Properly Linking A Flash Animation To A URL?
Apr 28, 2010created a new layer with one keyframe in frame 1, which spans the whole animation. In this layer I entered the ActionScript in REFERENCE 1. It works fine in several browsers, including IE8, FF3.6, and Chrome, and works for the customer. Then....
Their webmaster emailed back saying that he "did not see any links in the new banner." I'm not sure what this means, and if he actually tested the code.They sent me an example from a previous developer, which is REFERENCE 2.I compared it to what I published--which was generated by the CS4 "Publish" option. This is REFERENCE 3.Did I do something wrong? Everything works in all my tests, and they work for the customer.
It looks like they're missing a lot of information from the header. It is much smaller than the header that CS4 generates. They also have a link under the <!--url's used in the movie--> comment. Could this affect the performance? To my knowledge, this is obsolete. Perhaps they used an older version of Flash?

Feb 9, 2010I have a FLVplayer that has multiple films linking to it. There are also categories of films that can change, without disturbing the previous video from playing. This will be on the 'portfolio' page of my website. I then want to have links on the homepage to play certain videos.How can I set up an HTML link to a SWF on a different HTML page, linking to a certain frame (category) and loading the correct video in the FLVplayer?I have read about flashvars but im not sure if they can load bits inside the swf (ie the video).

Apr 26, 2011I am currently having a problem with Flash CS5. I am trying to link a sound file to my Flash game without having to put it on the stage. It would play when my character got hit by an enemy. The problem is is that when I go to edit the properties, all of the options except to play the sample are all blanked out. This is currently driving me insane as I have done everything I could think of to get around this.

Oct 12, 2011I tried searching for an answer but did'nt have much luck. I decided to finally learn how to do a web page in Flash and everything is progressing except for text links. I'm importing a .psd file and I keep the text as editable, the page has 5 text links plus a text logo, the logo text link works when tested (returning to the home page) but the links to the other pages do nothing.
I have tried each one seperately, pointing to both the intended page as well as the home page with no luck, the only one that I can get to work is the logo text. I have also tried grouping the text for links seperate from static text in Photoshop. I'm sure it's something simple and I'm probably over thinking things but whatever the case I can't get it to work.

I have no idea what I could have possibly done to make this happen. In HTML none of the links work. They are all linked up fine, I even re-linked some of them. Nothing happens. Aug 31, 2010I use Flash 8.I'm making this very simple Nav Box where on certain links open in a new window/tab. Those links work great.But most of the links are set to open in the same window that the Nav Box is on. When saving the SWF and HTML, the links work great.
The problem comes when I place it on other pages/sites. The "Self" links never work. Here are samples.

Unless I'm mistaken, the way flash works, it matters not which server it is on so long as it's directory is public. This enables the flash to be placed on any page (via it's root link / Embedding code) and still have it's buttons work.

Professional :: Flash Flipbook Links Not Working?
Dec 12, 2011I am creating a flipbook application for a magazine. I am using Flash CS4(AS3) to build a navigation interface which contains a UILoader that loads magazine pages in SWF format created by InDesign CS5.Initially I was loading one large SWF file for the magazine pages. Internal links on the table of contents worked great but the load time was ridiculous. Now I am loading individual SWF files for each spread (adjacent pages) and the load time is great, however the links on the table of contents no longer work, which I expected.
The links still appear to be on the page however they don't appear to do anything. I have managed to interrogate the display list objects within the SWF file and the links appear to be of SimpleButton type. Some are even recognized as having HTML significance, they are given an instance name of "Hlnk#" instead of just "Instance#".I think my problem is that I can't/don't know how to get to the event that is triggered by the link/SimpleButton object. If I could see what page it is referencing I could load it.
CS3 Next Buttons - Linking To Next Frame

Buttons Not Linking Correctly?
Jul 7, 2009This was created with frames in dreamweaver and the nav bar and index page movie are swf files. When you click on the pages in the nav bar it redirects to the index page. It does this the majority of the time and every now and again when you click it will go to the actual page.The way it is set up in dreamweaver, it has the nav movie in the top frame and the content in the bottom. All I did was change the old i.p address to the domain name because our host changed. I did nothing else and then this started not working correctly.I have checked and double checked all links in flash and they work from the swf but when it is loaded in the browser it does that weird linking to the index again.
