I am trying to create an image gallery in essentially the same manner but instead of loading SWFs, I want to load external bitmap images.However, when I replace the SWFs with images, I keep getting an error message:

TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::Bitmap@3e91d2e1 to flash.display.MovieClip.at image_Loader_fla::menu_1/isLoaded()
So obviously, it is trying to convert the bitmaps to movieclips. Due to my newbiness with AS3, I'm not really sure what I need to do with my existing code to fix this issue.I've provided a sample of the gallery if anyone wouldn't mind taking a look.
P.S. In the sample I provided, you will notice that on mouse-over, an external will load. The only one that won't work is the first one (Home) as it is trying to load an external PNG.
how can we create the navigation bar in flash AS2.0. i need to create a navigation bar with the slider control. I called some .swf files from external folder. Now i want to add the navigation bar for that external files. That navigation bar should get the bytes of loaded .swf files. Then that navigation bar will animate upto the 100%. If i drag the slider, loaded .swf file should controlled by the slider(forward and backward).

I'm a web designer. In a effort to make Flash-based sites for my clients I have gone over stacks of AS books now for months. I just don't get any of it--and I've tried. Moreover, the books all give abstract examples to do just about anything with AE. My needs are very limited: I need to use AS for web navigation in order to create Flash-based websites. Can anybody point me to Flash templates, demos, tutorials, AS libraries, websites, videos, classes, that focus on Flash navigation, with specific examples of real life websites? Or blocks of code where all I have to do is replace some lines with my own stuff? Or an AS library comparable to jQuery? I know this has to be doable. I don't know any JavaScript either, but I'm perfectly able to fulfill all my web design needs with jQuery.

I have built a flash navigation menu that plays fine. I exported it and saved it into the root directory of my website.Then I opened the website and added it where I wanted it (on a Template) by selecting Insert>Media>Flash and following the steps.I added the files to my server and am finding something odd. When I open the Template file on the website, it loads the Flash file just fine.[URL] However, when I load any of the pages built from the Template the menu won't load correctly.[URL]

i was to create a type of ftp connection using flash/flex, however because actionscript doesnt support ftp i need to use other programs such as c#.net.intergration i have seen can be done with tools like WebOrb for .Net however because this is an Air application i want to be able to access .net class files(dll) from flash without havent to be connected to any sort of server.however i cant find any solutions to connecting to .net classes as a standalone application.

Each slide contains animation and plays well the first time but when if I want to back to a slide, it would only show the last frame of that slidI tried many things including making buttons for back and forth and managed to make buttons that fade when you pan over them (big accomplishment:) but can't get them to actually do stuff for me, like go forward and backward. I tried to assign to the button's frame "UP" thee following script but it doesn't work:

With 2 Circles you can move the conveyor and I think you can use boxes with joint for belt but i dont know how to give it the form:

However I need to create a utility method that should be able to create a vector of any given datatype. Is it possible to specify a type using a variable instead of hard-coding it?

When I try to write text and then jump to a new line to write more text, the text continues on the same line.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a flash program that uses it's own code to send and create images. Each square has a colour and that colour gets added into the array. A black, then grey, then white is:
filecode = ["Bl", "Gr", "Wh"];
That works fine, but when I try to paste it into an Input text box it will only fill in the first part of the array.
filecode = ["Bl,Gr,Wh"];
So the program has NO idea what I want.The only ways I can think of fixing this is by putting in 402 text boxes to suit every box...But every one of them needs a Variable Name.Or by sending the information straight into the array. But this way you are just looking at what you just drew, and that is not at ALL practical.
I'm in the mist of a flash project and my client really liked how the (www.nike.com) navigation on this site works to get you into their multitude of sites. I don't care about the sliding and following the mouse. I only care about the showing of "submenus" they way they are doing it to the side with the easing and reveal effects.I would like to create the navigation effect with XML and Actionscript 2.0.
