Now I want to create a array of above type like below:

This type is very crucial as it will be sent over webservice.
Why doesnt my Array work? I get this message:

I'm basically having the following error: 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type void to an unrelated type Array. In relation to the event listener that calls 'Backdrop'. Backdrop is a public function in another class, but it does still recognise Backdrop as a function.

View 1 Repliesi was to create a type of ftp connection using flash/flex, however because actionscript doesnt support ftp i need to use other programs such as c#.net.intergration i have seen can be done with tools like WebOrb for .Net however because this is an Air application i want to be able to access .net class files(dll) from flash without havent to be connected to any sort of server.however i cant find any solutions to connecting to .net classes as a standalone application.

So for instance, I've got three .as files called 'Helicopter.as, Game.as, Blue.as'
and I also have a .fla file called Helicopter.fla (These files are all suppose to link together, to make the helicopter game) . In the Game.as file, I have the following;

Flash doesn't recognise the original Helicopter symbol (in the Helicopter.fla file, because I deleted it). But I want the system to detect the 'circle' drawn using API (In the Helicopter.as file). And I have no idea how to how to name the API drawn circle 'Helicopter', thus I'm getting an error. So how do I name the API circle to 'Helicopter', so the Game.as file recognises it.

I have two type definitions (references of type Class) in ActionScript 3 and I need to figure out if one is a base type (class or interface) of the other.I had hoped something like the following would work, but alas it did not:

It is understandable why it doesn't, but it would still be nice. I can't use describeType either, since for objects of type Class it doesn't actually return the correct inheritance chain but rather just return the types Class and Object, which doesn't help at all. I can use getQualifiedSuperClassName in a loop until either there are no more super classes or there is a match, but it's less than ideal and doesn't work for type checking against interfaces.

View 1 RepliesI have an array of movie clips (representing band members) which have various properties, among them them a property which tells where the band member went to after they left their current band. For those who formed a new group, I want to create an array. Within that array, I want to group all the ones that left for the same group into secondary arrays. So, if you had five band members and 2 of them left for group X and 3 left for group Y. What's the best way to do this? This is, roughly, my code:

Alternatively I suppose if I could do without a multidimensional array and just loop through all the members and say - for those members whose group is the same, perform this function, with the name of that same group passed as the parameter for the function. I guess the trouble I'm having is identifying who's the same.

All I need create Array inside an Array dynamically from an unknown XML tree.
Is it possible to, if you have an array of class names like ActionScript Code: var city01names:Array = ["pic_01", "pic_02", "pic_03" ...] make a new array which would read these names, instantiate them, and push them into a new array containing the instances of all these pictures, which I could then use for a slideshow?

so here goes the description of what i'm (trying) to make : i want to make a slideshow with AS 3, it will load external image which the location will be written in xml after it has load all the image it will play by itself and change beetwen image with transition.. well i manage to : read the xml, load the picture one by one and convert it into a bitmap tipeafter convert it to a bitmap tipe data i save it into an arrayafter all the image has been laoded , converted into bitmap and saved into array to display the image itself i first add the the image which has been save into the array to the container that i specially made to hold this (well actually because transition manager can only have effect on MovieClip).
myMCContainer.addChild(myImageArray[imageIndex]); that's how i display it (of course i have added "myMCContainer to the stage").
well the real problem is when i tried to use remove child fo myMCContainer it give me error #2025, and when i tried to check number of child that myMCContainer has it returned 0 even after adding the image...

I have a quick question for you all. I'm trying to convert over some ActionScript code to C++ and am having a difficult time with this one line:
private var edges:Vector.<Array> What is this exactly? Is this essentially a multidimensional vector then? Or is this simply declaring the vector as a container? I understand from researching that vectors, like C++ vectors, have to be declared with a type. However, in C++ I can't just put down Array, I have to use another vector (probably) so it looks like:
I don't expect you guys to know the C++ equivalent because I'm primarily posting this with AS tags, but if you could confirm my understand of the AS half, that would be great. I did some googling but didn't find any cases where someone used Array as it's type.
