I am trying to retrieve data from database through php scripts and display in flash using actionscript 3. For actionscript 3, I have 2 functions:

if I were to run the php script itself, the data could be retrieved from database. However, if I run in Flash, it returns a null value.

I have a website in which the content on the index page is controlled by a PHPMyAdmin database. I want a a flash "movie" at the top, that can take the data from the site, and slide-show it until a user clicks on a specific link, in which the movie will direct itself to the clicked event.
The page is for a booking/promotion concert company. They want a "Featured Shows", "Calendar", and flash file that all are interconnected. One page. Does anyone know how to do this, where to find tutorials, or so on? Note, i'm not wanting to WRITE data to the database, I just want to GET data to post on the flash file.

I am having an interface in flash which contains 3 text fields for ID_Num, Name, Age. and i am having the excel data which contains many rows relevant to the above text fields. what i need is to display those details in the relevant fields if i enter the ID_Num. and also to add, modify or delete data into the excel data.

Is there a tutorial somewhere that tells/shows how to display an image from a db. I have my image paths in a mysql db and I am using php to display my other text fields. I just haven't been able to get my images to show. Below is the code that I am using so far. Here is my actual goal, I am trying to have a flash document the has a list in the datagrid that is connected to a mysql db. I have successfully done this. When a user clicks on a product in the datagrid it populates the details below the grid and I have done so successfully. What I now need is to show a picture of the product in the details section. I would also like to see how to show different images for different vendors, each vendor has its own image size, so if I put just one image placeholder then some of the images will be scewed. I need something that shows image in placeholder 1 if company=1, show image in placeholder 2 if company=2, etc.

Is it possible for recent versions of flash to directly (or thru Php) access (& update) data from a mysql database and display results based on the data?
So if my database were like this (math scores):User 13Jerry | 20Kane | 7 the flash output would be a bar graph like this (those hyphens would be bars in flash)
Is this possible these days? Google analytics does something like similar to this.
I last used flash somewhere in 2003/4. Never after that :-) I've completely lost touch.

I use flex and php to retrieve information from my sql database. What i have been doing is formatting the result from the database query into xml and then putting the result into an arraycollection. It all works fine except one of my database fields contains a lot of text that website users enter and as xml doesn't like tags like <> so I leave it un formatted but I would like to format it. Would I be better using flashvars or text than xml? Or is there another way?

I have a problem with a flashpage I am developing. It sends a request to a database through a php-file and retrieve a text that I place in a textfield. The problem is that the swedish and other specialcharacters is shown in code format looking like this u00e4 . I know both my php-file and database is correct because I have used the same request with the same php-file and database in a android app and it works perfect.

how to display multiple data (retrieved from xml files using a for loop) horizontally in flash. For example, I'd like to display images (fetched from the database using XML) in a flash file where in i want to display 3 records in a row and rest of the images to appear in the next row having the set of 3 images in each rows. I'm having a hard time handling this task.

I am building a flash app to retrieve XML data which depends on what a user searches for. The following as3 code places an input field and submit button which allows a user to type in a postcode into the input box and click search and what should be returned in a list of all the properties that have that postcode.

I'm using Flash 4.0 as UI tier, and I'm trying to send data to the server side, which runs on Tomcat. I wrote a servlet that the calls are directed to it. But I do not understand how can I see the data that was sent from the flash tier. to clarify, hereby example:

I am newie to Flash and actionscript. However, I have some years of programming experience, Java, VC++, JSP, ASP, and etc.Now, I have a project to about E-Business. I want a method to embed some data into a flash then retrieve it later. The idea is that I want some secure protection for the data embeded, then the data (maybe audio, video, or photoes) is encrypted first (so the data is changed) and embeded into the flash. When the viewer want to view the flash, it will be prompted to input a password, then the flash will try to use the password to decrypt the data and let the flash player show it.

how to send data from a flash to a database and how the receive it aswell. Im presuming you pass the data from the flash to a php file to the database when sending and call the data using a php file to the database aswell. What im trying to do is just have a button that will increment a number in a database by 1 and then display that information on a different Frame within the flash later.
Basically what i want to do if have a button pressed to increment a number in a database.

I'm a designer working in tandem with a PHP programmer on a project where we will display a random image via flash from a selection of images stored on a database. Accompanying this image is a tagline and a path for a button and these variables are sent via a php script. The actionscript then picks up these vars via loadVars and displays them on screen - well, almost.
The tagline is displaying in the dynamic text box with no problems, but I'm struggling with how to display the image in the empty MC I've created (called 'pic') and also to attach the path to the button I've created (called 'projectURL_btn'). I'm fairly sure it's something fairly simple but I just can't crack it.

I have made a .swf file that scrolls boxes- these boxes willin the end contain products contained in a ASP database.
