ActionScript 2.0 :: Display A Random Image Via Flash From A Selection Of Images Stored On A Database

I'm a designer working in tandem with a PHP programmer on a project where we will display a random image via flash from a selection of images stored on a database. Accompanying this image is a tagline and a path for a button and these variables are sent via a php script. The actionscript then picks up these vars via loadVars and displays them on screen - well, almost.
The tagline is displaying in the dynamic text box with no problems, but I'm struggling with how to display the image in the empty MC I've created (called 'pic') and also to attach the path to the button I've created (called 'projectURL_btn'). I'm fairly sure it's something fairly simple but I just can't crack it.

I'm looking to display three images, chosen at random on load, throughout the duration of a banner ad.Basically, these images are health tips displayed on post it's - as it plays, the post-it's fly off, revealing the next tip.I also need ensure that the images don't repeat I 'm mostly a timeline guy, but I've been learning AS and have no problem getting one image to display randomly - however the three separate ones with no repeat is throwing me off.
My thoughts are to are to either
a) Put all the images on separate frame within 3 MC's, and somehow display a random frame within that clip on load, ensuring no repeat
or
b) Load the images into 3 separate MC's through and XML doc, and pick one at random.
The images only appear one at a time - so I think each MC would only contain one of the 3 random images selected.So is it possible to load a random image into a MC,and then duplicate that MC without a chance of the image repeating?

Is there a tutorial somewhere that tells/shows how to display an image from a db. I have my image paths in a mysql db and I am using php to display my other text fields. I just haven't been able to get my images to show. Below is the code that I am using so far. Here is my actual goal, I am trying to have a flash document the has a list in the datagrid that is connected to a mysql db. I have successfully done this. When a user clicks on a product in the datagrid it populates the details below the grid and I have done so successfully. What I now need is to show a picture of the product in the details section. I would also like to see how to show different images for different vendors, each vendor has its own image size, so if I put just one image placeholder then some of the images will be scewed. I need something that shows image in placeholder 1 if company=1, show image in placeholder 2 if company=2, etc.

i want to intertwine php, MySql and flash. so i can make a flash movie display text that is in the sql database and a php script to change the database, php > sql = i can do but sql > flash = i can't do..i want it so the sql data show's in a text box in the flash movie...

Is there an easier way to display random images, for example I want it to display an image or two and then three or four second�s later change to another. I have over 100 images to display and don�t really want create each frame and place a new image on every 5 or so frame. There must be somewhere out there some action script that can do this, c

I'm using as3corelib's MD5 class to encrypt data sent from a flash form.. so far so good... I can validate a user's login and password , no problems the thing is I need to decrypt a value that's stored in the database with an md5 encryption and is sent by the php script to the flash app.

I'm still very much a newbie when it comes to AS3. I need to create an external image scroller. That's simple enough, but these images are of people of different ethnics groups, roughly divided into four categories. So, the pictures need to be randomized two-dimensionally. The first random factor is which of the four groups to choose from. The second random factor is which image in that group to display. That way, no ethnic group is favored over another.
I've gotten fairly far...when I test my Flash file and click the Start button, you'll see the first random image. Wait a few seconds, and the second will appear. All well and good...but the logic for how to randomize and automatically display all 15 images eludes me, despite days of research.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I tried to upload the test files but they're too big, so the code is below.

My question isn't directly related to a random image or xml but I'm using it in my example. really want to know how to load an image when the swf file loads. Please have a look at my example and you'll see what is wrong. It's a little funky resizing the border at the moment when the file is loaded.

i've got this header in a website that's got images fading in and out of each other. btu now i want them to be loaded externally and randomly. but still fading in and out of each other.i did foudn a post that loads the images externally from a folder and loads any image that's in that folder, but it doesnt work in my version of Flash 8.0 Pro.Does anyone know any good script or short tuto (since time is short) that's makes the movie behave like i want it to?

I have a website in which the content on the index page is controlled by a PHPMyAdmin database. I want a a flash "movie" at the top, that can take the data from the site, and slide-show it until a user clicks on a specific link, in which the movie will direct itself to the clicked event.
The page is for a booking/promotion concert company. They want a "Featured Shows", "Calendar", and flash file that all are interconnected. One page. Does anyone know how to do this, where to find tutorials, or so on? Note, i'm not wanting to WRITE data to the database, I just want to GET data to post on the flash file.

I recently wrote a small script to display an endless scroll for 360 degree images. The image is loaded dinamically so I can use it as a viewer for all the 360 degree images in the site's gallery. It works fine, but I found one image that appears truncated even though everything else works as expected. I found this [URL] that says: The maximum image size of a Flash 2 movie is 2880 x 2880 pixels The image that is giving me this problem is larger than that and it seems to be cut at 2880px widht. Can anyone confirm this? And if so, is there any way to override it since I'm using pure as? Despite the years working with flash, I keep finding these nasty surprises. Last time I learned about the 16,000 frame limit when working on a cd presentation... I wonder what's next.

I am trying to retrieve data from database through php scripts and display in flash using actionscript 3. For actionscript 3, I have 2 functions:

if I were to run the php script itself, the data could be retrieved from database. However, if I run in Flash, it returns a null value.

I have a flash piece that just chages the image displayed on the screen. The images are stored extrenally so I can easily change them out from time to time. For various reasons, I would prefer to store binary data like images and videos as BLOBs within a MySQL database and have Flash retrieve that content directly from the database as opposed to getting it from a URL on a fileserver. So, I have written a PHP script that Flash calls which does a database query and returns the bitmap data from the BLOB. I have verified that the image data is being sent from the database through the PHP, but Flash either doesn't display the image or gives me an error saying that it is an unknown type.

Is there a way to get Loader() to accept bitmap image data that is retrieved from a BLOB in a database? Should I try to get PHP to mimic the response from an HTTP server or is there another way to load bitmap data stored as a BLOB into a display object?

I am currently developing an application with a Flashlite frontend which communicates with a C# server. The C# server access a database to retrieve images (stored as byte[]) and feed them to the frontend. The thing is, im using XMLSockets so I tried to convert the byte array into a string which left me with something like "23659256239786107089710981890776178910976". I then send it over to the Flash lite, but how to turn this into an image. I am currently using Flash Lite 3.0 /AS 2.1
