ActionScript 2.0 :: Random Image Fader With Externally Loaded Images
Nov 14, 2006
i've got this header in a website that's got images fading in and out of each other. btu now i want them to be loaded externally and randomly. but still fading in and out of each other.i did foudn a post that loads the images externally from a folder and loads any image that's in that folder, but it doesnt work in my version of Flash 8.0 Pro.Does anyone know any good script or short tuto (since time is short) that's makes the movie behave like i want it to?
I have noticed a few odd things, and have tried to send off to Tiago himself but have not received any response. I am in dire need of getting this to work properly, and am asking for help from this community. I have a primitive understanding of this AS3 code, and apologize if this may be a noob question.
I need to fix a couple things, with this code. The first thing i noticed is the code seems to call for the .php file before it can load, so at times it will generate a "undefined" for both the quote and author. The second thing is, which may tie into the first, there seems to be the occasion where the code doesn't load the php file at all. The author and quote will be blank for a duration. And the third question i have is how do i get the text to fade out again after the fade in after an interval.
I was wondering if there was a way in Flash to preview externally loaded images in Flash while still working.I am loading images externally to keep the file size down on a piece of elearning but now I'm afraid maintenance will be a nightmare since you don't actually see the screens until you publish. I have interactions on the screens so I need to see them for their placement on screen.
Is it possible to introduce a fade into this script so that on rollover the new random color fades in rather than instantly switches. on (rollOver) { // "square" is the object being tinted myColor = Math.round( Math.random()*0xFFFFFF ); myColoredObject = new Color (_root.square); myColoredObject.setRGB(myColor); } Have attached the .fla
In Flash, I can go into the properties of an image in the library and check 'allow smoothing' to enable resampling when the image is scaled or rotated.
How can I achieve the same effect for images loaded dynamically by the SWF from an external URL?
I've been looking into how to crossfade externally loaded .jpgs.So far everything I have found deals with slideshows and seems more complicated than what I need.I have created a new Loader that will load a .jpg when the thumbnail of the corresponding image is clicked.I am trying to get the currently loaded image to crossfade upon load completion of the new image being loaded.I'm thinking I can define a variable that is the current image in the loader and then on completion of loading of the new image run a function that fades out the current image and fades in the new image simultaneously.I am having problems trying to identify the currently loaded image of the loader into a variable.
I've created an empty movieclip (imgHolder) dynamically on my stage and through XML I've loaded a picture into this movieclip which works fine. However, if I click on the picture, nothing happens.
I'm still an amateur at flash (more precisely, actionscript), how to do a simple gallery with static thumbnails which, when clicked, dynamically load an image into an empty movie clip, fading in and out (using actionscript)? By that I mean, click on a thumbnail, main image fades in, click on another thumbnail, loaded image fades out, image of clicked thumbnail fades in. Is it possible? I have successfully achieved thumbnails that load an image externally using both XML and using the ordinary loadMovie function, opting in the end for the loadMovie function and modifying AnaS' [URL] code (some of his comments are still in there). The reasons being that I'm not particularly concerned if I can't use XML for this, but I do want the images to load externally to save space.
I figure that the thumbnails are small enough in file size for me to afford to put them in, but just in case anyone think that XML is better for the job, I'm also including my XML file. On top of AnaS' code, I have added an if-else statement (lines 13-21) but, as I have said before, I'm an amateur, so I can get my head around the 'if' part of the statement, but haven't figured out the 'else' section (namely, the fade out). From what I have seen (I've been looking for the solution for a long time), most people just settle for fading the image either in or out, but rarely both. If there IS a gallery with both fades, it is usually done professionally and the code is either unavailable or goes over my head.
How to click on a thumbnail and load and unload the image using in and out fades. I have seen something which is almost what I need (both fade in and fade out are present) in the form of Kirupa's XML gallery, but I wanted to make mine just the bare essentials and really simple (i.e., no carousel/sliding effects). I just noticed that there is no tutorial for something like this. Kirupa has two very, very good tutorials (the XML portfolio, which is very simple, and the XML gallery with the slide, which is quite advanced) but not an 'in-between' one, such as the one I'm trying to create. [URL]. I have an empty movie clip ('loader') and three thumbnails ('thumb1', 'thumb2' and 'thumb3') on the stage.
My code: this.onEnterFrame=function() { if (loader._alpha <100) { loader._alpha += 5; } /*else { if (loader._alpha > 0) { loader._alpha -= 5; [Code] .....
I'm current trying to create a slideshow with images loaded externally, and then crossfading between one another.I've achieved how to load the images one after another, but however I'm having problems with achieving a crossfade.Do I need to have 2 seperate image loaders? Because I do not want to have the first image fade out, showing the background for even a minute of a second before the second one fades in.
I have a few questions... All of which have to do with this website: [URL] 1) First off, is there any way to pre-load externally loaded .jpg's so that there is no time delay between each background image? (You can see what I mean by clicking the "-" and "+" buttons on the bottom left corner. Here is the code that I'm using for the background images/buttons:
I'm new to AS3 and I'm having a problem moving an externally loaded image within a Class. I'm just not sure how to move the externally loaded image.I thought of creating a Sprite and then moving an added child Sprite, to which I would then load the image.But I'm getting this error:1119: Access of possibly undefined property spHolder through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite.
I'm creating a Flash portfolio, and all work I have done are displayed as thumbnails which are externally loaded images. On rollover, I want to display the works title. How would I place this text OVER image? At the moment, the loaded image is on top of everything, even text I attach on rollover.
I am trying to resize an image and display it on stage but i get the.......... error 1119: Access of possibly undefined property bitmapData through a reference with static type flash.display:BitmapData........this is driving me a bit mad because i got most of the code out of essential actionscript 3.0.....I've tried to debug it myself but my debugging skills aren't very good yet
I am trying to use rotationY,X,Z on an externally loaded image. The image is displayed properly when no 3D rotation is applied, but does not appear afterwards. I have tried various things: loading the image into a bitmap, loading that bitmap into a Sprite/MC. What am I missing?Just to be sure, regular rotation works fine, e.g
PHP Code: pic.rotation = 2; ....axis rotation does not
I need to be able to manipulate the bitmap data of an externally loaded image (an image from the internet), however there seem to be security protocols preventing access to this.Is there a way I can gain access to the bitmap data of an image loaded from an external source? What I'm after is being able to save the image to disk, or pass the image to the printer. (I can do both of these things, but I'm not being given proper access to an external image)I've done a few work arounds and the best I've been able to get is it working for a few images, but not all images. Even if the image loads properly and can be displayed in flash, I'm not guaranteed access to the bitmap data.
What I'm trying to do is quite simple. Load an image externally, then display it (addChild it) multiple times, in different places, without loading it again and again. (Granted, caching means the image won't be downloaded multiple times, but I'd like to avoid those annoying disk accesses as well.) I know that flash doesn't actually support this. A while ago I was trying this same thing, I dug around for hours, and there was no real solution.
I'm a designer working in tandem with a PHP programmer on a project where we will display a random image via flash from a selection of images stored on a database. Accompanying this image is a tagline and a path for a button and these variables are sent via a php script. The actionscript then picks up these vars via loadVars and displays them on screen - well, almost.
The tagline is displaying in the dynamic text box with no problems, but I'm struggling with how to display the image in the empty MC I've created (called 'pic') and also to attach the path to the button I've created (called 'projectURL_btn'). I'm fairly sure it's something fairly simple but I just can't crack it.
I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.
I'm Loading an image into a MC based on an XML file. I'm setting the initial alpha to 0, loading the image, then setting the alpha to 100 once I see that it is fully loaded. The problem is that I want the image to be resized, which is not working. Every time I check the size of the MC once the image is loaded I get 0x0. Here preload code.
Code: function preload(num) { eval("image"+num).loadMovie(url[num],1); eval("image"+num).onEnterFrame = function() {
I bought and installed a component and now the place I got it from is not giving support and their site has been pulled. The issues is that I can't figure out how to convert the loaded images into bitmaps in order to apply smoothing. Can someone look at the code in the attached .fla and give me a heads up as to where to add i
I am in the process of building a site for an Architect... Jamie Fobert Architects (projects) I am useing transitions between the projects and am loading details/text and images externally through flashvars, php and a mySQL database. Within my transitions I have a a preloader on the forst 2 frames the code is as follows (taken from a Voetsjoeba tutorial):
[Code]....
This works pretty well if the content is within the .swf, but when it is loaded externally it doesnt preload it at all. Does anyone know how I can adapt/improve this preloader? or somehow ensure that all the content being loaded externally is loaded before the transition plays?
I'm trying to dynamically stack images that are being pulled in via an xml file. Below is what I'm doing, and it almost works. The problem is that it only seems to fire off the event complete function on the very last one, instead of going for all of them. Is there a way to make it run the even.complete function for each image?
function aboutfileLoaded(event:Event):void { aboutXML = new XML(aboutTextLoader.data); for(var l:int = 0; l < aboutXML.aboutimages.image.length(); l++)
I am loading an externally loaded swf that uses a mask to transition in. When the user clicks a different button I am doing a gotoAndPlay that goes to a mask that "unloads" the content (it doesnt actually unload the info is just outside of the mask area. As soon As I jump to that section the movie is no longer loaded and just shows the container clip that I had created for it. The Container Clip is never changed and is the same throughout the whole process. The only thing that changes is the mask animation.I have tried both loadClip and loadMovie but no luck on keeping the clip loaded.
EDIT - I have narrowed it down. When I change the mask movieclip the movie unloads for some reason. Is there a way I can keep it loaded?
