Actionscript 3 :: Position Loaded Images From Loop Based On Image Height?

Jun 10, 2010

I'm trying to dynamically stack images that are being pulled in via an xml file. Below is what I'm doing, and it almost works. The problem is that it only seems to fire off the event complete function on the very last one, instead of going for all of them. Is there a way to make it run the even.complete function for each image?

function aboutfileLoaded(event:Event):void {
aboutXML = new XML(aboutTextLoader.data);
for(var l:int = 0; l < aboutXML.aboutimages.image.length(); l++)

Flash :: Cannot Position MovieClips Loaded With Images Based On Their Height

Aug 1, 2011

I use the following code to load some banners: a "banner" is a clickable PNG image. I get the URL it must point to through a parameter of the AdLoader class.

package
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.display.Loader;

[Code].....

In practice, I create some MovieClip containers (loader_1, loader_2, etc.) and in each container I want to load one image.

What happens: when the images are loaded I want to position each image at the y+10 pixel of the preceding, so if the first is at y:0 and its height is 140, I want the second image at y:150 (and so on). I can't understand what it happens but sometimes the code works, while most of the time it doesn't.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Position Text From Xml List Based On Textfield Height?

Dec 5, 2009

I have text that loads into a dynamic text field that is on the stage. The movie clip("tile" in code below) in which the dynamic text field resides is placed on the stage via loop function.I can load the text from the xml file just fine.However, since each text field in loop autosizes, which is what I want, (in height only-width is fixed), I want the next text in the loop to load in a Y position based on the previous text box height including a "cushion" of my choosing. I'm very close, but can't seem to get the math right that is needed for the tiles Y position...

Here it is:

Code:
var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("faq.xml"));
xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onXMLLoad, false, 0, true);

Actionscript 3 :: Position Loaded Object Based On Root Stage Instead Of MC That Is Loaded From Root

Mar 22, 2010

I have a root stage, and a MC that is called from the root stage.Now from that MC, i will called in another MC2, and I wanted to placed the MC in the center of the stage. The reason I could not use normal ADDED_TO_STAGE at MC and define the center is because MC is not place in the exact position of the root stage (as in x, y=0). So if I would target MC2 at MC stage center, it would not be the exact center of the root stage/screen.How can I called the root stage properties rather than adding MC2 into the stage?

Flex :: Width/Height Of Dynamically Loaded Image?

Nov 16, 2009

In my Flex application, I've got a component that extends UIComponent where I'm loading images at runtime and try to display them. I've tried lots of different approaches (using beginBitmapFill(), using different containers), but I can't get things to work as I want. The problem seems to be related to the width and height properties of the image, which aren't updated correctly.The idea is:

var sprite:Sprite = new Sprite();
addChild(sprite);
var im:Image = new Image();[code].....

The image's width and height doesn't seem to be correct when it's loaded. I get width==0 (and nothing is displayed), but the property $width seems to be correct. How can I assure that width and height of the loaded image is updated?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Finding Width / Height Of Loaded Image

Oct 7, 2009

I am loading in a list of thumbnails from an XML file. The images are not always square but one of the dimensions is always 50pixels, whether it be height or width. Occasionally an image IS square. I am creating a 52x52 sprite and adding the loader image as a child to this sprite centrally. To do this I need to know the dimensions of the loaded images. (the loader object). Everything loads, parses and displays as it ought to, I just cannot find the width/height of the loaded image. Pics1List is an XML file.

ActionScript Code:
var imageLoader:Loader;
var request:URLRequest;
for (i = 0; i < (pics1List.picture.length()); i=i+1) {
var picture:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
imageLoader = new Loader();
[Code] .....

As you can see, I tried a few different things and frankly in the end just tried each combination I could!. The closest I got was when I used imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.width and the error message was "The loading object is not sufficiently loaded to provide this information." which is why I added the event.complete function. However, this function never triggered so I commented it out.

Do i need to do that with php or is it possible with A.S. 2??

But Now the problem is that when another button is clicked I have to add the listeners back on the button, but I cant get the button because they all have the same name. Same with addChild the animated movieclip. Can't remove it. The buttons have a variable name, and can be unlimited.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tracing Image Loaded From Loop?

Oct 19, 2009

I have a loop within a loop as you can see below. I am trying to trace the images so that each one comes up:
video0
video1
video2
video3 (etc. - there are a total of 9 images indicating videos).
But the way that I have it tracing right now does not bring up the names as I want them. You will probably be able to see why after looking at the code below.

Here is my loop:
[AS]
for (var i=0; i<rows; i++) {
for (var j=0; j<columns; j++) {
imageHolder = new MovieClip;
imageHolder.x = leftMargin + j * imageWidth * marginX;
imageHolder.y = 290 + i * imageHeight * marginY;
[Code] .....

I tried different ways of doing it such as putting a trace in the second loop.
