I am currently developing an application with a Flashlite frontend which communicates with a C# server. The C# server access a database to retrieve images (stored as byte[]) and feed them to the frontend. The thing is, im using XMLSockets so I tried to convert the byte array into a string which left me with something like "23659256239786107089710981890776178910976". I then send it over to the Flash lite, but how to turn this into an image. I am currently using Flash Lite 3.0 /AS 2.1

I have two custom as3 classes, TriviaGame and TriviaQuestion, and I am attempting to retrieve a bitmap image stored in TriviaQuestion and have found it impossible thus far.I am attaching the full AS files/SWF/etc in a zip file, but here are the parts I believe are important.[code]The only time I am able to access the bitmap's info (in order to add it to the display) is inside ImageLoaded().

I tried on Flex 3, facing issue with uploading JPG/PNG image, trace readUTFBytes would return correct bytes length but tmpFileContent is trucated, it would only appear to have upload just 3 characters of data to the server through PHP script which made image unusable.I have no issue for non-images format. What is wrong here?

I'm using a shared object in my project...and that's saving a value too....the code looks like this...

and this value is storing into the local system.the problem happening when i tried to access the stored value from another swf...thats not accessing the value..is there any alternatives to access this stored value from another swf?

I have a flash piece that just chages the image displayed on the screen. The images are stored extrenally so I can easily change them out from time to time. Is it possible to navigate to a web page if you click on an image? If so, how is that coded or can you direct me to where I can find out how to do this?

For various reasons, I would prefer to store binary data like images and videos as BLOBs within a MySQL database and have Flash retrieve that content directly from the database as opposed to getting it from a URL on a fileserver. So, I have written a PHP script that Flash calls which does a database query and returns the bitmap data from the BLOB. I have verified that the image data is being sent from the database through the PHP, but Flash either doesn't display the image or gives me an error saying that it is an unknown type.

Is there a way to get Loader() to accept bitmap image data that is retrieved from a BLOB in a database? Should I try to get PHP to mimic the response from an HTTP server or is there another way to load bitmap data stored as a BLOB into a display object?

I'm a designer working in tandem with a PHP programmer on a project where we will display a random image via flash from a selection of images stored on a database. Accompanying this image is a tagline and a path for a button and these variables are sent via a php script. The actionscript then picks up these vars via loadVars and displays them on screen - well, almost.
The tagline is displaying in the dynamic text box with no problems, but I'm struggling with how to display the image in the empty MC I've created (called 'pic') and also to attach the path to the button I've created (called 'projectURL_btn'). I'm fairly sure it's something fairly simple but I just can't crack it.

The above code loads an XML file which contains the path to text and image files, i am able to trace the path correctly within the above PARSE function but i am not able to retrieve the variable (or trace it for that matter) in the LOAD TEXT section, As i continue to code, i would also like to dynamically load multiple images (in the LOAD IMAGES section) using the projectPath and iterating through each image listed in an XML file. I am not at that point yet but my question is how would i create a progressbar/preloader that diplays total progress for all URL Requests (the text file and multiple images listed in the XML).

I'm developing a web project and it need access client's web cam and capture images then store them on the server. And i found silverlight 4 can do this,,but the problem is my project runs on the .net 3.5 server machine (i can't change it) , so i cant use silverlight 4. I've got a job for a client that includes creating a flash movie that will contain a number of thumbnails that represents links to avi movies, powerpoint presentation etc. The thumbnails need to be updated and added to on a regular basis. Is it best to call the thumbnails from an xml doc so the client can update easily?In the flash movie the thumbnails will be presented as a horizontal slideshow that needs to scroll horizintally on
mouseover, and the thumbnails will also display a caption on mouseover. Is this all possible if the images are coming from an external source such as an XML doc.

I have a very specific problem. I need to load certain images that my php script creates, and acts as proxy to some apis, into a Flash client (application) however I cannot use direct calls to HTTP server because I'm not allowed to use allowscriptaccess=true. So I've been using FMS for some aspects of my application such as live video and audio and SharedObjects.
I know I can write scripts to load and parse XML files on the server side so that shouldn't be a problem to get, however I'm stuck on loading in images going through FMIS.
When I test my video recording and chatting application using SharedObjects, everything works fine even if allowscriptaccess=false, but none of my images will load (naturally since the script access is limited). I know that some sites disallow scriptaccess parameter in Flash embed code so I would want everything to go through FMIS.
I have read some suggestions that I could try to load files directly from server-side on FMIS as binary and try to pass that to the client and let Flash generate the image with ByteArray but I wouldn't try to lose time if it's not possible or will stumble upon problems.
Does anyone have any ideas whether or not FMIS can serve images direclty through RTMP (which would save me some headache) beacuse I could load XML info from server-side and when I get the link to image use RTMP to load the image, but I'm unsure if this is possible at all.

Currently writing my own AMF TcpSocketServer. Everything works good so far i can send and recieve objects and i use some serialization/deserialization code. Now i started working on the encryption code and i am not so familiar with this stuff.I work with bytes , is DES-CBC a good way to encrypt this stuff? Or are there other more performant/secure ways to send my data? Note that performance is a must :). When i call: ReadAmf3Object with the decrypter specified i get an: InvalidOperationException thrown by my ReadAmf3Object function when i read out the first byte the Amf3TypeCode isn't specified ( they range from 0 to 16 i believe (Bool, String, Int, DateTime, etc) ).I got Typecodes varying from 97 to 254?I think it has something to do with the encryption part. Since the deserializer works fine w/o the encryption. I am using the right padding/mode/key?

I'm working on a project (using flash builder 4.5) where a user can click on one of a number of pictures to perform an action. The images are all loaded into an array of UIComponents through actionscript. I have a private variable as follows:
private var _selectedChild:UIComponent;
Which keeps track of which UIComponent is currently "selected" (was the last item clicked). I just want to show an Alert when the picture is clicked displaying it's id and the source filename.
Alert.show("Current id: " + _selectedChild.id + " -- filename: " + _selectedChild.source);
The id comes out easy with _selectedChild.id, but there is no such thing as .source - I looked throughout the entire list of possible variables eclipse gives me and I can't figure out which one would display the url or the source. I feel like I might be missing something easy - does anyone know how to get this information from a UIComponent?

I am working on a Flex 4.5 app tageting Android. In different views the app needs to load and display images which I have deployed as part of the app. Where do I put these images? And how do I load them? I am familiar with @Embed for images, but this doesn't seem to be the correct approach in this case. I also know how to load from the file system, but I really don't know how to include my images as part of the app for distribution.
