View 1 RepliesI've looked at a few demos from adobe that show apps built with Flex 4.5 running on iOS from simple list views to video capture. This has made me wonder if its an effective solution to build cross platform mobile apps.
For those of you who have taken Flex 4.5 mobile for a spin, what is your impression on the capability and performance on iOS. Is there anything you can't do with Flex 4.5 mobile that you couldn't with a native app? Are there any limitations?
Is there any way to compile Adobe Air apps to native Android / iOS applications? I have no idea about iOS but in Android they need a huge(9MB~) download and i think it is a very big drawback for anything that can be sold?I heard from an Adobe person at a conference that Angry Birds was made with Flash, if he wasn't lying, there must be a way.
View 1 RepliesI can't find the link for downloading Flash Lite.

View 1 RepliesI'm having a hard time finding information on the best way to deliver video to mobile apps built in Flash CS5.5.
I'm working on an iPad app using AIR for iOS and I'm wondering how I call on video files basic controls.
The app I'm working on is just a mobile presentation for our studio's production work, so I just want to be able to add our showreel and some other videos of work we've done.
Is there a unique device ID that I can use in Flash Builder/AS3 to differentiate between devices in a Flex mobile project? I am trying to circumvent having to code a login/registration system.
View 1 RepliesDue to screen density of iPhone, image assets are developed larger. So, when specifying the icons and images to Flex components takes this form.
<s:ViewNavigator id="tab1" label="Tab1 width="100%" height="100%" firstView="views.Tab1">
<s:icon>
<s:MultiDPIBitmapSource source160dpi="@Embed('assets/tabIcon.png')"/>
</s:icon>
</s:ViewNavigator>
Flex of course renders this correctly and adjusts the size to what it should be. However, when I load images myself, they appear blown up as they would appear double in size. This is how I use it when overriding the tab bar.

a website, or any kinda of media form where I can learn to make a video recorder, which will record webcam.
View 0 RepliesWe are building a live RTMFP voice chat application with Cumulus. While the basic voice transfer works pretty easy using NetStreams, we have one big problem:There does not seem to be a way to manipulate the microphone data that the NetStream sends, and also not a way to manipulate the data the listening NetStream receives before it is played.However, this is exactly what we need. We do not want to transfer the normal microphone recorded audio, but first pitch it, then send it, then play it. Or first send it, then pitch it, then play it. But it seems that the whole audio recording, speex encoding, speex decoding and audio playback is completely encapsuled within the NetStream class.The only ways to achieve what we want (and all of them removing NetStream completely) seem to be:Send raw pitched audio data. That does work, but is of course a lot of data to send and will likely not work fast enough outside of our local LAN testing.
Pitch audio data, convert to ogg/mp3 using existing encoders for flash, send, decode ogg/mp3 and play. But this would mean encoding each and every sample packet that is received from the microphone, adding header stuff, etc. So this would likely not even yield that much of a benefit compared to raw audio data.2.1. This would actually be a good way if there was a Speex encoder/decoder for flash. But ironically, there is none other than the built in one (which is used for encoding/decoding audio in NetStreams) that cannot be explicitly used. ot offering it, Adobe...Send the data to the Cumulus server, pitch (and probably convert) there and send to the recipient. This would likely not even be that much faster than 1. and also throw away the exact benefit of RTMFP, P2P communication.
I've been working on a Flash script that allows the user to speak and playback what the user is saying after certain but exact time, say 10 seconds.
View 1 Repliesim completely lost on how to do a simple multiline label. The docs say that labels are best used as single lined elements, but that alludes to it being able to do multiline if necessary. Anyone have any clarification on the subject?

View 2 RepliesI'm playing a flash game on facebook. I know I can decompile it to find out all the commands and would like to make scripts to automate the game by calling procedures in the actionscript of the game. So I guess I would like to make a plugin also that would insert this console into any flash app and this would be handy for a lot of things. Then if anyone wants to hack a new game, u just decompile it and make a handbook of methods for people to make scripts with. So how would I go about making this console? I don't know if I could make a swf interact with the game or if it has to be compiled into the game's swf. Or if it is easier with javascript, that is cool too. maybe we can make a javascript library just for this. anyone can tell me more?

View 1 RepliesI am currently developing an application with a Flashlite frontend which communicates with a C# server. The C# server access a database to retrieve images (stored as byte[]) and feed them to the frontend. The thing is, im using XMLSockets so I tried to convert the byte array into a string which left me with something like "23659256239786107089710981890776178910976". I then send it over to the Flash lite, but how to turn this into an image. I am currently using Flash Lite 3.0 /AS 2.1
