I am currently developing an application with a Flashlite frontend which communicates with a C# server. The C# server access a database to retrieve images (stored as byte[]) and feed them to the frontend. The thing is, im using XMLSockets so I tried to convert the byte array into a string which left me with something like "23659256239786107089710981890776178910976". I then send it over to the Flash lite, but how to turn this into an image. I am currently using Flash Lite 3.0 /AS 2.1

I've only found tutorials and examples that require a media server running such as Red5, Flash Media Server and Wowza and an open rtmp stream to the server. However, I want to know if it's possible to record a video locally and then submit it to the server with a simple HTTP request. Is there a tutorial somewhere that shows how to do this? I'm really new in flex development
View 3 RepliesI am using Flex for displaying videos streamed using the Red5 server. Basically i have two perspectives - one who relays and one who receives the broadcast. On the Flex side, in the video display, the video quality is good but on the receiver side it appears pixelated. I can't find the cause. Does this have anything to do with Flex encoding of videos or any Red5 server settings?
View 1 RepliesI have performance issues with my test web chat app - video playback is very slow on, around 1 frame per few seconds at 640x480, 15fps, quality: 90. Network usage is low (gigabit LAN), cpu's still have some headroom so it should be the software.
Quick description of my setup:red5 0.9.1; simple flash broadcast and subscribe derived from here [URL] and mr. accattato's videos; using oflaDemo on serverside.
Local image on the broadcaster is good.So far I guess flash broadcaster would be the most likely culprit, but here is my worst since I am new to flex. Red5 should not modify the stream I guess, and it doesn't make much sense for the subscriber to play only 1 frame per second.
i am using red5 and flex. Actually my objective is to send microphone stream from the server to the client and play it on the client side. Similarly send microphone stream from client to server and play it on the server side. No need to store the live stream.

My Red5 setup seems to work for remote method invocations and shared objects, but I've yet to succeed in getting video working.

As said, note that the Red5 setup works flawlessly for remote method invocations and shared objects, but not for video which is strange.
I have a linked list of data in Red5server that updating every 8 second. I want to send this linked list to Flex. is it possible using shared object? or any other solution?

View 2 RepliesI am facing an issue in my Flex application.I am creating some array collections and storing date objects in it.In the later part of the application I will create'advanceddatagridcolumns' with these array collections as the data sources.Initially while creating the Array Col , I do have the 'formats' given by user, for each array collection eg. '1995/06/25' but in the later part I have no access to these formats. I want to display this dates in the data grid in same way as the user has specified. Right now, it displays it in the default format 'Sun Jun 25 00:00:00 GMT+0530 1995' instead of '1995/06/25'.
I have a common 'labelFunction' for these advancedatagridcolumns, and thus I can not use the DateFormatter as I 'formatstring' would be different for different columns. So is there some way to display/retrieve the date in the same format as stored and not in the default way. Or while creating the date object can't I specify that I would always like it to be returned in some desired format.

i'm trying to perform simple automated test on my Adobe Air Application. I decide to store some test data in external MS Excel file to decrease hardcode quantity. But I discovered, that this is not a trivial task, when you're working with Adobe Air.
Actually, i need to correct initialize an excelApp object, the rest part of logger is already implemented. I tried the following approach, but I can't find a package with ActiveXObject class defined.

View 2 RepliesImagine you have a large number of video files stored on a server, and a Flex app which lets users play those videos they have access to. How can you best set this up? Wouldn't the Flex app just be sent the name of the video to play... in which case couldn't someone else write another flex app if they knew the file names? Can Flex play videos hosted on other sites? Is there some clever piece on the server I'm missing, which sits between the Flex video player and the files?

As some Internet tutorial suggested I've built a simple server-client application for FLV Video Player using PHP and Flex. The problem I encountered is that I can't change the source of the video in the mxml file using Notepad++. The source could be changed if I run Flex but It's not a good idea because I want to run different videos through this player.how to run different videos with this Flex Video Player component because my application works only for this given in the source of FlexPlayer.mxml-maybe I shouldn't use this mxml file for the different Video Sources?
