I installed red5 successfully, but when I try to connect to red5 to stream a video, the connection fails. If I use netstreaming(null), it works, but when I use red5, it doesn't.

I now have managed to get the red5 server up and running and ive been using the samples to stream my webcam live from one computer from another and it works fine.Now to step 2. Making a custom client that autoconnects to my live feed.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to capture/encode a video file on a slow machine, then upload it live to a Red5 or Adobe Streaming server, and have that server stream to file live to flash clients? If so, what protocol is used to stream the data from the encoding machine to the Red5 / Adobe server? I see a lot of things about RTMP, but am I correct that this protocol is used between Streaming Server and Flash client, but not from encoding machine to Streaming Server?

Let's say I have 3 flvs on my server, I'd like a client to connect to my red5 app and have 1 of these 3 videos streamed to them. The only streaming i've been able to figure out so far uses netStream.play("video.flv"), this doesn't work for me, I want the server to decide on the file to stream rather than the client.

I've just finished putting together a basic flash video chat client that publishes the camera to a stream and receives a similar stream from another client.The streams are being pub/sub'd to the "oflaDemo" that ships with Red5.This seems to work fine for my prototype, but I'm concerned about having to use something with "demo" in the name if I were to roll this chat application into production. It seems that the alternative is to essentially re-write that demo, perhaps with a few more features, which doesn't seem right in order to take advantage of one of Red5's core functionalities.
So, my question is: what is standard/best practice for production live streams in Red5? Is the oflaDemo used? Do custom stream brokers have to be written? If I don't host it myself, do most hosts have their own (production-quality) version of oflaDemo?

I'm using Red5 newest 0.9.1 final for mac os x to stream the H.264/AAC encoded MP4 file to my flash app.
And there's no problem when I'm resuming the .flv file.
The idea behind is a multiplayer browser game which interacts with a PHP server. Right now it works like this: Every second the browser is doing an ajax call to the php script which checks everything and returns the response. All in all it runs fine, but the problem is that the browser gets overloaded (because of thousands of ajax requests) after a while and it becomes impossible to play anymore. Also the delay of 1+ second is pretty much. My idea is to have a simple flash pixel which will have a 2-way communication with the server. For example:

Im trying to make connection from flex to java and from java to mysql. I managed to connect to java, but having error that class not found: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver. But i downloaded mysql.jar, included it added to library, and connection works when i testing it from clipse scrapbook. Dont know what to do, i spend last couple days on this.

Basically the solution was simple. Everybody keeps saying to put jar into lib folder, so i done it, but i wasnt realised that i have to put into my servers lib directory, not app lib directory and this miserable mistake cost so much. Anyway i hope this will help for some newbie like me.In this particular situation im using red5, so i putted it into my red5 dist/lib directory and "surprisingly" its started to work.
I have installed a FMS to a CentOS server. I created an application here but I cannot connect to it raising a "Connection Error". I tried testing it by streaming some videos on the samples on vod. I used the "../samples/videoPlayer/videoplayer.htm" which is locally found on my computer that was included when I installed a FMS too on my local computer (Windows). When I try to load a video from my computer's FMS samples it usually works. I used the following Stream URL here:
rtmp://[MY-IP]/vod/sample.flv
But when I try to load a sample vido from the server I still get "Connection Error". I used the following URL
rtmp://[server-ip]/vod/media/mp4:sample.f4v
The file is located at /applications/vod/media/ which is as far as I know, the vod is the application's name and media is an instance name. Is there a sample working Stream URL on the internet that I can use to test?
I'm trying to implement a flex app that will be able to record a video from a webcam and then upload it to a server. I've only found tutorials and examples that require a media server running such as Red5, Flash Media Server and Wowza and an open rtmp stream to the server. However, I want to know if it's possible to record a video locally and then submit it to the server with a simple HTTP request. Is there a tutorial somewhere that shows how to do this? I'm really new in flex development
View 3 RepliesI am using Flex for displaying videos streamed using the Red5 server. Basically i have two perspectives - one who relays and one who receives the broadcast. On the Flex side, in the video display, the video quality is good but on the receiver side it appears pixelated. I can't find the cause. Does this have anything to do with Flex encoding of videos or any Red5 server settings?
View 1 RepliesI have performance issues with my test web chat app - video playback is very slow on, around 1 frame per few seconds at 640x480, 15fps, quality: 90. Network usage is low (gigabit LAN), cpu's still have some headroom so it should be the software.
Quick description of my setup:red5 0.9.1; simple flash broadcast and subscribe derived from here [URL] and mr. accattato's videos; using oflaDemo on serverside.
Local image on the broadcaster is good.So far I guess flash broadcaster would be the most likely culprit, but here is my worst since I am new to flex. Red5 should not modify the stream I guess, and it doesn't make much sense for the subscriber to play only 1 frame per second.
i am using red5 and flex. Actually my objective is to send microphone stream from the server to the client and play it on the client side. Similarly send microphone stream from client to server and play it on the server side. No need to store the live stream.

If I've correctly understood what I've read in the last few days, there is basically no way to 'query' to a database with Flex 3. So I suppose there is another way by using a webservice in C# on the database server that would respond to the Http query from Flex.
