Imagine you have a large number of video files stored on a server, and a Flex app which lets users play those videos they have access to. How can you best set this up? Wouldn't the Flex app just be sent the name of the video to play... in which case couldn't someone else write another flex app if they knew the file names? Can Flex play videos hosted on other sites? Is there some clever piece on the server I'm missing, which sits between the Flex video player and the files?
The users using my website say they can't see the flash videos on the website, even after downloading the latest version of Adobe flash. May there be any reason for this ?
[Code]...
One of the users that the videos do not run for him has Windows operating system & Internet explorer browser. I've put a check in the videos page to check if the user has the required flash version installed or not to run the video, but even if that user installs the latest flash version he keeps getting my check message, as in this screenshot: [URL]...
Uses can log into my site and record camera videos to FMS, and now I want to present videos that belongs to a specific user in a classfied way,that is: videos those are being recordedvideos those have already been recorded, how to do this with FMS? I'm thinking of doing this by storing such information into the database with server side as,using onConnect and onDisconnect,but that's not the most stable way IMO, I don't know whether FMS has a native support for this kind of job...
i am trying to develop a multiplayer game using the flash media server. Currently i can get multiple users to control one shared object but i need to have 2 users controlling seperate shared objects on the same stage.
I am trying to add several FLA videos on the same flash page and control them with different navigation buttons.So, Button 1 to play video 1, Button 2 to play video 2, etc .I have already put two navigation buttons and added two videos.However, I need to know Action Script to enable navigation button to do above.
I have 4 live f4vs that I'm using with interactive server 3.5. Thus they are running in dvr. I'm trying to find a way to control all 4 videos so that when you go back on one video all 4 videos go back to the same time. This is very important with camera 4 as it is the only one with sound.I have tried putting all 4 videos in one swf file and I have tried putting each video as its own swf.
I am trying to manipulate (move up and down, enable/disable and launch a form) child controls inside a panel control. However I am unable to get the id of the child control on which the click event occurs. To illustrate, I am trying to create similar functionality as is available. I am trying to create the up-down buttons that you see in the image at http:[url].......
I have a flex application and have embedded a flash (SWF) file into it using <mx:SWFLoader>. There is an "Exit" button on the Flash file. I want to be able to handle the button click event on the flex application.
So when that button in the flash file is clicked, I want to perform an action in the parent flex application.
Each entry in the menubar for my app contains a shortcut key suggestion (e.g. Undo (CTRL+Z)). Is there an easy way to dynamically customize the suggestion string depending on whether the app is being used on a pc or on a mac?
I'm developing a very simple flex application on Windows 7 64 Bits.It retrieves the user url and then show it:
public var bm:IBrowserManager; protected function button1_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void{ bm= BrowserManager.getInstance(); bm.init(); Alert.show("Your URL is : " + bm.url); }
On my Windows 64 Bits machine (Chrome, FF), it works fine and returns the URL.But, when I run my project on a Mac OS X machine (Safari, Chrome, FF) : it shows:
Alert.show(Your URL is : Null);
I think that it cannot retrieve the browser instance or cannot init the browser manager.
We have a Flex application which doesn't currently use the Flex framework as an RSL. We're considering switching, but we're not sure what proportion of users will already have the framework cached.There's an added complication in that we're using the data visualisation components too, and we may have a choice as to which version of the framework we use.
We have a Flex app that is currently loading an XML file that contains Multiple Choice Question data. I don't want a user to be able to access this file via http, but if I use HTTPService to load the file (what we're doing currently) it seems as though I have to place the XML file within the public_html folder on our server.
Is there a better way to load the XML file so that users wouldn't be able to see it in their activity viewer/access it via http://
getting the list of the users currently connected to a BlazeDS server? Is there any built-in mechanism of knowing this? or do I have to implement some kind of server side logic every time a user access my Flex application and store all logged in users details somewhere and retrieve them later?
How would you be able to connect 2 users ( that are known and have a user account on my site) in a flex app together using rtmfp?I have a simple flex game app where I want 2 users to be connected to each other. There is a simple SQL database in the background for storing the users, but after this I'm unable to figure out how I would connect the 2 users.tmfp generates a unique ID that you can use to connect 2 users together?Im looking for a good tutorial info resource or an example app that demonstates connecting 2 users, or just an explanation

handling global keyboard events in Flex, is to attach a listener in the application complete event of a Flex application. However, no matter what I try, I have not been able to catch events without clicking on a point on the page, which is hosting my Flex application. Moreoever, if I use a Flex component in a web application, where there is also html and Javascript, I'd still like to be able to grap global keyboard events, even if the embedded flex component (in flash player) does not have focus. So is there a reliable method for connecting flex applications and components (when they're embedded in a web page) to keyboard events?
Does anyone know if adobe flash player cache data is available to other users on a system? For example: A user logs onto Windows XP, then uses my adobe flex application... and in the process of doing so downloads the signed flex lib... He then decides to mow the lawn and log off. At about 3pm the same day, his Mum can't hear the TV over the sound of the mower, so she decides to log in using a different XP user account. She proceeds to use the very same flex application. Does she also need to download the flex lib again, or would the data already be cached in the flash player?
Making an Flex App. Just wondering if anyone has created something that fits automatically to the users' screen size and how I go about doing this? One of the principle things is that I need an background image, which is obviously going to have to scale / resize to match the users screen.
