If i broadcast a video and divide it into packets, and when a users connect to the netgroup and receive the object from the group( the user will receive from specific time let say actual video is 10 minutes and user connect to the group, and seek video for last 5 minutes). how can i achieve this task. is it possible ? i am using flash player 10.1

I'm trying to have the next video play when the first video reaches that cue point. I keep getting this error: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MetadataEvent. However, when I look at the FMS Admin Console at the streams in app/_definst_, their types are either "NetStream" or "Live". If they were being saved wouldn't they say "Stored"? After I close the application doing the recording, the "NetStream" type stream disappears, and after a while all the "Live" typed streams are gone too. Nothing is saved.
I have no idea what is happening. I don't know if it's a problem with my AS3 code not closing the recording properly or if I'm doing something else wrong, or maybe somethgin isn't right in the FMS?
I've created a video player using the flv component. I have images of cue points. The user should be able to click on an image and the video should skip or start at that cue point
View 9 RepliesBasically the code below has been designed so that a video starts at 52 seconds (rather than the beginning) when you press play. It works good right now, starts where it's supposed to, but I want to change the code so that it autoplays the video starting at 52 seconds. The problem with this though, is that when I try and set it for autoplay, the video starts at the beginning and doesn't wait for it to load to 52 seconds before it autoplays. Any input on the coding? I need it just so that the autoplay doesn't kick in until the video is loaded to the 52 second point

I am trying to use Flex Video Display as a preview player. The player is streaming the video from the server.While The buffering is not complete, if we try to drag the play head to an area beyond buffered region, the player will drag the playhead back to the current playing position. I need to implement the player like you tube video player which allows to drag to anywhere in the track even when data is not fully buffered.Is there a way for doing this.

Does anyone how Youtube accomplishes this? I would like to know if it's possible to keep the flash state of a site constant while moving from page to page on a site.It doesn't seem as if the flash is reloading, so I don't think that they are just saving cookies for the current video time and starting the video at that point when they refresh.I would assume that they're using ajax, but the application of this feature is really clean. The URL gets correctly changed to the users' profile page's URL. The back button still works as it should. (I can press back and forward between video page and user profile page and the video continues going clean and never drops.)

I'm looking at a project that requires the ability to play one flash video over the top of another... sort of like an animated watermark, where the video on top has transparent regions ans may not be the same width/height as the one underneath.
Using Flash/Flex, can this be done in a web-app at real time? Or would you have to use an offline server app?
EDIT: This is not an HTML question. It's about making a simple video-editing kind of tool solely in Flex. Maybe I want to overlay a video of a galloping horse over a video of passing scenery or something. Ultimately, being able to output a single mixed video is useful, but for video editing that's too slow, real-time playback as the position of the overlay video is changed would be needed.

I'm just wondering if there are any mechanisms in the video classes for seeking to exact frames, ie it should do the translation from keyframe to specific frame in the background rather than having to actually play the video forward to the desired frame.This is not a streaming file and has nothing to do with buffering. The player is just downloading a movie file from the web and playing it from memory.

View 2 RepliesI am using flex builder 3.2, Action Script 3 and develop for Flash Player 10 and am quite new to it. when I call a method of a self defined class, I get the 1061 error (not defined). But the class and the method exist and are public, so what the hell am I doing wrong? Flash Builder is even offering me this method in the auto-completion, so at least the builder knows it... I have already tried cleaning the project (as this is the common source of strange errors when working with java/eclipse),
edit: solved... The problem was that a package had the same name as the variable I used for the class. Very strange error message, thumbs down for this .
we're planning to set up a live streaming service, one operson live streaming a video to multiple users. so no more than one channels contemporary in uplaod, and at the beginning it won't be a open broadcast service (maybe later..) we initially don't know how many can be the users. I've red that there's no theoretically limit for the maximum number of users connected with a fms, is this also valid for live streaming, or has it some limitation due to be live? is it necessary to have our fms, or is it possible (and cheaper) use a server provider?

We've gotten it to serve up video to the public and ourselves (inside our own network), but the problem is our client cannot view the videos. They keep getting a "can't connect to the network" message.Does anyone know of how we should troubleshoot this? The videos are each about 90 minutes long, and for right now, there are six of them, which is why we wanted to stream instead of embedding them.

I'm able to stream pre-recrorded (vod) flvs in flex from flash media server.
I'm able to stream live video using Flash/FMS/Flas Live Media Encoder, but not with Flex.
This code streams pre-recorded Video on Demand flvs, but not live streams:
If I change source to "rtmp://localhost/live/livesream.flv, I get nothing.
