I have 2 Y-axis on the chart and I am trying to use annotationElement's localToData to get the data points associated with a Point on the chart.
The annotation Element is able to return a set of values for the point ( 1 Y - data, 1 -x data), But it is returning the values against one axis and not the other.
Is there a way to associate the annotation element with a specific axis ?
I want a data tip to appear when mouse pointer is over any point of the chart, not only when pointer is directly over a data point.

Is there any way to force Flex to draw empty PieChart when all data in the PieSeries equals 0. The result I'm getting now is just a blank space in the place where my chart is supposed to be.
View 1 RepliesMy group is working on a Flex/AS3 scientific web application that is data intensive. Luckily the only plots involved are line charts. However, each line chart may have multiple traces (up to 24), and each trace may contain up to 2000 points. The user will need to zoom in and out and interact with the data (e.g. data tips, etc.).
The response I'm getting from developers is that's a lot of data to render in a plot in Flash. For reasons beyond the scope of this post, we can't sample the data to reduce the size (this has already been done and nature of the data prevents further sampling).
Rendering speed is critical for this app. What kind of rendering speed should I expect the Flex 4 line chart component to provide for a given number of points (e.g. 1 second to render 1000 points?)
Are there products available that handle plotting large data sets better, which can be incorporated in Flex (I've seen FusionCharts and ZingCharts online but have no idea how they compare with Flex's components)? Of those, which are easy to develop with while still providing a lot of flexibility in look and feel?
I'm looking to add(and remove, dynamically) text annotations to the PlotChart. Specifically I want to annotate plot points in the chart. I'm currently using the CircleItemRenderer for the points.I've found tutorials for other plot types, but they don't seem to apply to the PlotChart.

Question: Suppose there is no data available for 01/15/2010 then, Is there a way to display (01/15/2010) on x axis but no (bar or plot point) corresponding y axis point ?
i.e. there will be a empty space between 2 bars or plot points.
Currently i am using 0 , But 0 is a valid value.
Let me know if such a display is possible.

When a data point falls outside the ranges, the chart drops the line segments on either side of the out of range point leaving a gap in the data line. I'm currently using the data function to clamp the values out of range to the y axis min/max, but this displays misleading data.

I'm trying to prevent a default chart item roll over highlight in a Spark column chart.If you look at any of the chart examples on this page , when you roll over any of the chart series items, they turn a darkened shade of their original colour. This is what I want to prevent.
So far I have had no luck with using the itemRollOverColor property, as this only allows you to set it to one specific colour for the whole chart (my app has several different coloured series on the chart at once). Also, trying to leverage the itemRollOver event (with preventDefault() etc) hasn't worked either.
I'm trying to make chart which is combination of bar and line chart using Flex Charting API . Here x axis would be common and y axis would be different. note that y axis got different range of value one is % and other is amount. Any one got idea how to make this chart. Here line chart would be staked on top of bar chart . The line chart and never over laid or drawn on top of bar chart.

The type count is correct but the information for the project is wrong.
I would like to know if is there some good web solutions to show charts for "huge data sets", I've tried amcharts and Highcharts Stock (jquery solutions) without success. At the beginning they were working, but at the moment the "chrome" is telling me that the javascript memory is full and the page crashes. I've times where I need to show more than 20 lines, each one with more than 100.000 points, so in the end I can have gigantic jquery arrays that sure will crash the internet browser.
At the moment I am open to change to some flash, silverlight or other solution (not java applet because I am using C#). What do you guys recommend? UPDATE #1 For example: one purpose of this application is to see ECG channels. The person will carry a device with several "sensors" (lets define 10 or 12, more or less), the device will save the data each second (or sometimes even in shorter intervals). And there can be cases that the person will use this system for 3 days).

View 2 RepliesI am having an issue with ColdFusion's CFChart tag. I have a couple graphs that do not display properly. For a horizontal bar chart, when attempting to display 50 or more chart data items, the graph's bar labels stop plotting, but keeps plotting the bars themselves once it gets to bar number 50. I noticed making the chart height larger makes the issue worse as well. If i go from 1000px pixels to 2000px, it stopped plotting labels even sooner. The query that populates the chart items do not return blank label names either. See the screen below, the labels should keep plotting after "7 to 1".
I am running on ColdFusion 8 Developer Edition. Is this a possible limitation for ColdFusion's native charting capabilities? Or should I consider checking out Flex Charting instead?

I'm working on a guitar tutorial website where users can select parts of a song, then write an explanation of how to do that guitar technique. The explanation will pop up, like a youtube style annotation whenever someone plays that song. It's like the youtube video annotations, except exclusive to guitar lessons:When someone plays a song, the annotations get displayed in real time.-There will be 3 sql databases: user information (ex. email, password, etc...), song meta information (ex. song name, length of song, etc...), annotation information and content (ex. annotation start and end time (to queue when the analysis/annotation should be displayed), etc...).
