I can't figure out how to get rid of extra white space in the browser at the top of a swf file. It looks fine when I preview the file, but when I do publish preview in flash/ try to incorporate in HTML, there's an extra 1/4" at top of window.
View 3 RepliesI am currently maintaing a multi-linual app. It uses LoadVars.sendAndLoad() to populate dynamic fields with text appropriate to the user's current language. It works fine, except in a few cases. Certain Cyrillic characters, as well as certain Latin characters (such as Å‚) appear with an extra space after them. I have not figured out a way around this. I am using embedded fonts, and am embedding all the appropriate characters.
I've tried using different fonts, and I get the same problem with the same characters across all fonts. If I use device fonts, there is no problem, but this would have to be a last resort, since I'd like to have antialiasing, etc available. I have trace()-d the strings and have confirmed that there's no funny business going on with sendAndLoad(); the text is being properly downloaded.
Note that I am using Flash 8 targeting Flash 6, but targeting Flash 8 doesn't fix the problem. I am wondering if anyone else has run into this issue or a similar one.
i have done a project, in which, i have loaded set of check boxes in to a empty movie clip and i load that movie clip in to Scroll Pane component. all are working fine, but while scrolling, in the bottom of the scroll pane i got so much of extra empty space. How can i corrrect this.

Since the text is of varying lengths, I wrote a function to resize the text to be large enough or small enough to fit the box. Here's my function:

It behaves as if the textHeight is LARGER than the height of the box, despite the values it outputs in the traces.
I've got a dynamic vertical scrolling gallery which works fine except for one small thing. There is lots of space underneath the last item in the gallery which shouldn't be there... [URL] I can't for the life of me figure out why the extra space is there at the bottom...

View 2 Repliesk, so i have a function that checks to see if a user name and email that's being registered already exists in my DB. if the user name previously exists, a 1 is returned. 2 for email and 3 in neither previously exist. if i hard code my user name an existing user name, "joe", who already exists, into my php file and run it in my browser, i get an echoed answer of "1" as i should- nothing less, nothing more. if i don't hard code it and run "joe" over from flash and trace(event.target.data);, i get 1 with a bunch of carriage returns after it in my output window.

I am trying to parse a string in order to remove all extra white spaces.Iâm working in AS3 and at the moment the only pattern I found remove all content:

I am printing a dynamic text from flash. Every thing works fine, But I get unwanted spaces/ small boxes at the end of every page. Using string functions I tried to remove the last character if it is a space.Even though I am getting this problem.

Viewing it in either Gecko, Webkit or Presto, an unintentional vertical space occurs after the object, before the second div [URL]. Removing whitespace from between tags, or explicitly setting margin and padding does not help.
need 3x times more space than it's available... is it possible to get it somehow?
View 8 RepliesThis might be a dumb question. I think I already know the answer, just clarify. If you declare a object in varible1 and then pass the value into varible2. If you decide to null varible2 would that kill just the reference or the object itself as well. I want to say no, but then again, everything you do to the reference it self, also affects the space in memory.these are the 2 varibles in my class.

I'm trying to get used to the new way of doing things in CS4. Once I've created a MC and rotated it in 3D, how can I move it across the screen w/o rotating it further? I have a MC that rotates over several frames, and once it reaches the last one, I want it to stop rotating, then begin to slide in an X direction (while reducing the alpha). But no matter which tool I use or what I do on the timeline, the object is stuck in place and will only rotate and not move. Even the 2D X and Y settings in the properties panel are grayed out.
View 9 RepliesI've been trying to find a solution through books and online about how on earth to highlight just the in-between and edge areas of the object tweens, and either delete a certain amount of them like you can with classic tween, or be able to grab those little diamonds and move them along the timeline.
Of course this may be a stupid question since the new tween is all about the OBJECT, and the motion line that it creates on the stage with the "ticks" that are keyframes, may be what needs to be manipulated like the object itself instead of the timeline. I'm not sure.
At One point I had a whole lot of extra frames hanging off the edge of my one motion tween--(after I copied & pasted frames) --I highlighted them to remove any portion of it, but it removed all the rest of my keyframes as well.

Basically, I am inserting a flash animation into text with object, param, embed tags.However there is an unwated gap above and bellow the flash animation (about 40px I guess).I have resetted both margin and padding for object, param and embed tags. The gap is still there. How can I solve this?
NOTE: I know I could use width and height attributes with object tag but the users who will be inserting flash animations into HTML won't know their dimensions so they won't be able to insert these parameters.
I am trying to do an animation...which has to show a gun hovering/floating in a space bg....just not sure HOW TO..?

At the moment, when somebody wants to embed the videoplayer they have to include the swf with all the added flashvars (url...). That's messy, and it feels a bit risky... people who know what they are doing can also just remove the plugin and other added data, resolving in me not being able to track pageviews etc.[code]...
Turns out that, when I use file_get_contents on a regular test file, info.php, that responds through a $_GET['var'], the above stated code works, but when I use it on the flashplayer, it doesn't...
As in: the flash file does not seem to be accepting (or responding to) the added header variables...

I have linked a MovieClip to a class. After that I have places some movie clips of them on the stage. And now I like to do something with them, but I couldn't because some extra instances are created (I wonder how???) and they make me problems.The names of instances of the class I placed on the Stage are legs1 legs2 legs3,and the extra instances are: instance21, instance25,...(and they are not visible on the Scene)
