View 1 RepliesIn the cosmicpanda update for youtube, you can go from a video page to the video creators profile page while your video is still playing in flash. Does anyone how Youtube accomplishes this? I would like to know if it's possible to keep the flash state of a site constant while moving from page to page on a site.It doesn't seem as if the flash is reloading, so I don't think that they are just saving cookies for the current video time and starting the video at that point when they refresh.I would assume that they're using ajax, but the application of this feature is really clean. The URL gets correctly changed to the users' profile page's URL. The back button still works as it should. (I can press back and forward between video page and user profile page and the video continues going clean and never drops.)
View 2 RepliesThe quick question: is there a pure PHP library that can extract a frame from the video to use as the thumbnail? I guess the answer is "no" but let me know if I am wrong :-) ffmpeg wrappers will not go, since I want this feature to work on most hostings without special PHP modules or binaries to launch.
There might also be some tool to do this on the client side with flash for example.
I want to extract a video from an swf file and make from it a video to load to youtube(I lost the origianl videos).
The swf was created with flash 5-8(not sure which. how can I check if it is importent?).
When I looked at the source(I don't have the fla) with Sothink SWF Quicker I could export the sound but not the video.
What I did see was that the video was without sound(wierd but true).
Recently i have visited so many video enriched flash site like this one [URL] Most of them shows video in full size. I downloaded the video using FF plugin. Video framesize is very small compared to the stage size. When i tried to add video and resize the video acoording to the page size , it slows the browser. I tried to embed the flv inside an swf and loaded the swf using normal loader and plyed it.. but the quallity and performance comapred to these site is very low..
View 3 RepliesI have a an unobtrusive flash video looping in the background of a website, it is not essential to navigation - it is purely cosmetic.The flash video loops every 30 seconds.As this video is on all pages, it jumps back to the start when a new page is loaded.Is there an actionscript / javascript way to get it to remember the position it got to on the old page so it can start there on the new page?I do know that this can be accomplished by loading the flash movie in a frame as well as by having the subsequent pages load the contents in AJAX but I was hoping not to go down this route.I have seen other people ask the question and allude to the solution but they only posted that they got it to work without saying how.

All videos play well except for one thing: I would like them to start automatically. How do you change that? One the server, he added the Clear_Skin.swf, FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf and flvProgress.swf files. Are those the ones that control the autoplay action?

To get the 50MB-750MB files on the server I was thinking I'd use a flash control to upload the files like I've seen on other video sharing sites (YouTube, vimeo, ...)This would have to be done via FTP
So I have been searching for a Flash/Java plugin that would help me get these files to the server in a user-friendly fashion, but there doesn't seem to be any open-source options. I'm open to paying for a solution, but not unless it will allow me to use it over and over again. So now I'm thinking I should just setup a public FTP dropbox for admins to put videos using an FTP client like FileZilla, then I can just read the directory and edit/organize/manage the files with PHP.

Until the page is fully loaded, the videos are slow to respond and play. Is there a way to make these videos load their preview images only? What should I do to speed the page up? View 2 RepliesSo we were going to make a website allowing users to upload video. The website is going to be in PHP/MySQL. Are there any converters out there available for PHP to convert a video from a given format to flash to display on the web page to play?
Basically we would have a file on the server in say .avi format, or quicktime format. How do I grab it from the server, convert it to flash and display it on the php page to play?
Also, does can I use the video capabilities of HTML5 with PHP to make any of this easier?
I have Dreamweaver CS5, and used the "Insert FLV" function to generate a flash video player. It creates a /Scripts directory with two files, swfobject_modified.js and expressInstall.swf, and it also creates two .swfs in the directory the .html file is located, FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf and an .swf named after the skin (e.g. Clear_Skin_1.swf).
When I have Dreamweaver generate the html code for all this with a relative path, it works. When I give Dreamweaver an absolute path, it doesn't. You can see an example at www.youngstreetdesign.com/staging/flvtest/test.html.
The top is the relative, the second the absolute. The third is something unrelated.Dreamweaver says "enter relative or absolute path here" in the entry where you give it the video's path, and the documentation says that absolute paths should work, so, I'm at a loss.
We're putting together one of those "greeting spokesperson" videos for our website. The video is about 30 seconds long, and on the first load, it always disappears in the middle of a sentence. Refresh the page, and it works fine thereafter. The video plays through a FLV Player inside a SWF. I am having a problem with the video on my website. I put a couple of videos on there and I have them working. But if I click on another page, the sound is still playing on the video until it is over. I found a temporary solution by putting in the code to STOP ALL. This make it work how it should. But the thing is I want background music, and with the code I have know the music would shut off every time I go to another page. Is there any code where I could just shut the sound off for that video when I click on something else and not ALL sound?
View 8 RepliesI can still create the video and the files and it all works in dreamweaver when I preview in iexplore. When I put the files and the page into the host server it shows the skin and no video. If my paths are wrong I do not know where to check them. I need help MY whole career is on hold until I know how to do this like clockwork/ I need step by step with creating and changing paths and uploading using cpanel or dreamweaver. getting the files made and uploaded is easy part. I have been here before and cheers to the help. I really need an in depth answer about how to do this from start to finish. I have looked at all tutorials and they all make it seem so easy but dont show anything on paths. If my video works in dreamweaver but not online live what is wrong? I am lost and on edge lost many weeks of sleep over this simple process.

I know this. However a client wants it so we have to do it, simple as that.Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be achieved? I've been in touch with the creators of the flash video player I'm currently using and they've confirmed it isn't possible with that flash video player.
View 1 RepliesI have a simple html page with some javascript where if i click a link, it will show a flash video in a div using the swfobject.embedSWF function. I did a test: Uninstalled flash from my machine, then reloaded the page and clicked the link...I correctly saw no video. I then installed flash and came back to the same page (no reload) and the embed still won't work. I know in swfobject 1.5 (I'm now using 2.2), I would be able to embed the swf after the user installs flash, but now the user needs to reload the page in order to get the flash to appear. This is not good for my current situation, anyone know what is going on here? Here is sample code using a youtube video:

I have a master page and a child page and have placed the javascript code inside the child page for flash movie.
The problem is the movie seems working when there is a alert on, without at least one alert msg, the code does not work, I am sure you people can solve, I can see that the following code works well in both Mozilla and IE, but only if the alert is ON, if I put it off, then the code does not work. Can anybody tell me what is the workaround :
