I have a web site that displays a column of flash videos. The page is w3c-valid. The problem is that the page loads very slowly and sometimes crashes my web browser. Until the page is fully loaded, the videos are slow to respond and play. Is there a way to make these videos load their preview images only? What should I do to speed the page up? The videos are 360x264.
View 2 RepliesI am working with the open source flash player at [URL].. and I am trying to figure out how to limit one sound file at a time. I know this has been done on a number of sites but I am unsure how to approach it.
Scenario: A page has five different instances of the flash player. The user is litening to one song but clicks on another to listen to it.Goal: The first audio file automatically stops while the second starts playing instead of both playing at the same time.
Do I need to have some sort of javascript handler than interacts with the swf or something?
I'd like to use the same music player displayed multiple times on the same page, one for each song. But when songs are played, I want the existing play to stop. For example:
song1
song2
song3
I click to play song1, while it's playing, I decide to play song3 instead. Based on the default setup, song3 will start playing while song1 continues to play. I'd like song1 to stop when song3 starts.
I want to have a number of scenes with video players on each. Pasting means I get problems with duplicative functions. I am okay with creating new instances, but still run into duplicative functions (like onMetaData) I just can't seem to get around. Is there an elegant way of telling flash at the beginning to create all new nc, ns, etc?

View 4 RepliesI'm trying to have a flash video, with fallback to the html5 video element for those browsers which don't support flash, such as iPhone. I'd also like to have valid html5. The issue I see is that in html5, object doesn't support the classid attribute anymore, but this would be required for a user to get flash if they don't have it but want it.
It seems my options are to accept invalid html5 but not have the flash work properly, or have the classid and not have valid html5.
I am trying to embed audio players in a drop-down content tooltip. I will eventually have lots of these on a page.My problem is this:When I close the div the sound continues to playI can also make them play at the same time.I would like them to autostart when you open the div, but when I do that they both start at once before you've even activated the drop-down content. I would rather not do the whole site in flash.

On one of my pages i have around 20 of these flash players embeded on the website. i've seen on other websites so when the user presses the play on flash player #1 and then while that's playing, they press play on flash player #2, it would first pause and stop flash player #1 and then start flash player #2 and so on.

I'm trying to find out which video features are compatible with each of the flash players. This is because I want to create video for the lowest possible version of the flash player, so more people will be able to view it.

Does anyone how Youtube accomplishes this? I would like to know if it's possible to keep the flash state of a site constant while moving from page to page on a site.It doesn't seem as if the flash is reloading, so I don't think that they are just saving cookies for the current video time and starting the video at that point when they refresh.I would assume that they're using ajax, but the application of this feature is really clean. The URL gets correctly changed to the users' profile page's URL. The back button still works as it should. (I can press back and forward between video page and user profile page and the video continues going clean and never drops.)

I have seen some players here on the Adobe website that are stand-alone smaller windows that appear over the page. How is this done?So Strobe and REOPS...are we talking SWF code that is editable? I noticed that this causes a delay on the webpage when loading and the video doesnt start simultaneously for each player, so i guess the same video is loaded over and over again. Is there a workaround to that so i can load the video once and play it on the 3 players simultaneously??

I am working on a project where i need to support multiple players and platforms to play videos. Major Platforms will be: Windows PC,Mac PC,Apple Devices and Android. This is the precedence i will be following. First it will check browser support for Silverlight 3 or later then Flash then HTML5. If not any one of them is supported user will be asked to installed Silverlight. I wanted to know which pattern and strategy i should use in order to support this functionality. Currently i have investigated about some javascript api that can do this detection on client side easily and load the player appropriately.. but as many of browser could be without javascript support so this method will fails to play videos. Is there any way I can do this detection on server side and inject proper Player HTML on client end?

Video framesize is very small compared to the stage size. When i tried to add video and resize the video acoording to the page size , it slows the browser. I tried to embed the flv inside an swf and loaded the swf using normal loader and plyed it.. but the quallity and performance comapred to these site is very low..

I'm working with flowplayer and accordingly ActionScript. This project has slowmotion plugin, but there are two imperfections: it uses the special stream server and no sound in slow motion. Is there possibility to play flash video and audio in slow motion by just add something in ActionScript?
View 1 RepliesAs I understand it video over a connection of say 40Kb/s wont actually have time to load and make a buffer, and it'll be "glitchy", so it wont make much difference whatever buffering is put in place. I'm getting complaints about glitchy video. I don't have access to the servers serving the media so I put a load timer in a swf along the lines of averageLoadSpeed = (bytesLoaded / loadTimer.currentCount) / 1024;
Out of 5 tests run, 2 were below 50Kb/s. And I've been told the server also is not geared towards media and put priorities on other business tasks. The head of IT for this company keeps going at me about buffering, and how that'll fix the problem. I tried to explain that the speed is way too low (32Mb = 32768Kb / 24Kb/s = 1,365 seconds * 60 = 22min) enlighten me on buffering aside from wikipedia's explanation about IO streams.
I have a an unobtrusive flash video looping in the background of a website, it is not essential to navigation - it is purely cosmetic.The flash video loops every 30 seconds.As this video is on all pages, it jumps back to the start when a new page is loaded.Is there an actionscript / javascript way to get it to remember the position it got to on the old page so it can start there on the new page?I do know that this can be accomplished by loading the flash movie in a frame as well as by having the subsequent pages load the contents in AJAX but I was hoping not to go down this route.I have seen other people ask the question and allude to the solution but they only posted that they got it to work without saying how.

View 2 RepliesI have been searching far and wide for a solution on how to offer slow motion and fast motion options for users that upload video to my webstie. There is an implementation on Google Video that has exactly what I am looking for: the option to speed up or slow down the video and continue to play the audio. The screenshot is below. I know that Flowplayer has an option to slow down or speed up video when implemented with Wowza server. However, when using that approach, there is no sound.
I have also seen the option from Enounce called MySpeed that allows video to be slowed or quickened, but this requires a browser plugin which is too much of a barrier for our users. How does Google do it? How can you add an option to a flash player to slow down or speed up video?Here is a screen shot. You can see the option to change the speed of the video to 1.5x. It also has options to go to 0.5x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2.0x, 2.5x, and 3.0x.
I managed to make a controller that can play embedded-video-SWF's in "slow-motion" (1/2 speed, 1/4 speed) and in reverse at different speeds. What I'd actually like to do, is something similar, but then with FLV's. I am trying to use the NetStream.pause() as a toggle onEnterFrame, but that doesnt work. Using seek doesn't seem to work either, because it kind of doesn't like non-integers and also for an unknown reason keeps sending the playhead to 4 seconds. if it should be possible to play an FLV at a different speed/reversed, how to do this, and if this should cause performance issues. (Reverse-playing an SWF is much slower for example)
View 4 RepliesI have an instance of the flvPlayBack component on my stage called myVideo a list of links down the lhs is used to pop in the required video.If a user gets say 1/3 of the way into a video and the presses a different link for a different video then: the new video pops up but the seek bar is still some way into the new video there is a pause of around 1 sec the seek bar goes back to the start.I want to speed up the return of the seek bar to the start of the new video.

1) Play videos in slow motion; and
2) Play videos on a frame-by-frame basis (i.e. a user would click a button to advance the video one frame at a time).
Do you know how I would be able to accomplish both of these?
