Jan 12, 2009In my CS4 flash document I have created a media gallery. It's a very simple interface that has mouse overs on thumbnail pictures, and then the larger picture will fadeUP in the center of the document. (With use of framelabels in the timeline).
In the same document, I want the user to be able to click on a video thumbnail, and that video plays back in the center of the document. Several questions: If the user clicks on the thumbnail "onrelease," the time line goes to the player, is it possible to stream this video from a youtube clip into my media player on the screen? If not and I have the document in a fl4 format, is there a simple process to have this video open? (I currently do not have the document in fl4 format).

Feb 17, 2009At the end of each video, i want an arrows to appear (left or right [or both]) in order for the user to click, so that they can "go into the next room" by watching the next video.
The "undefined" part is to check if an object has a variable set, if the variable is not set it will be "undefined".
To know which is the current video, I think i need to store the object that relates to that video once it starts playing. So any time a video starts, store that object in the variable. But im not sure how to do this.[code]...

Dec 30, 2011So I was wondering if there was a way to create a video player or edit some open source video player with the functionality that users can add comments straight from the video player. So if you're trying to picture it, it would be something like this: the tool bar at the botom would have the usual seek bar, volume control, play/pause buttons etc, and now an additional button that when clicked would trasform the tool bar into a text box which can be used to enter comments while watching videos. The comments would then be entered below the video.

Aug 3, 2010I have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc. Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.

Jul 11, 2010I have a game that needs to send the number of points a player is awarding to another player to a MySQL database on the same server. This game is part of my psych MSc dissertation, and I've gotten a lot of help on this bit from my department techie who knows php and MySQL well. However, he has absolutely no experience with Flash or Actionscript. He's gotten the php bit working so that it does send data to the right table in the database when it's supposed to using dummy variables, but when we try to test it with the actual .swf thats supposed to be doing the sending, nothing happens. We're pretty sure this means theres something wrong with the actionscript, but we don't know where.

Mar 6, 2010With the Flash Player that comes with CS3 and on my PC XP Pro laptop.I want the player controls to appear at the _bottom_ of the video not on top of the video and not under (behind) the video.
- my video is 640 x 480
- so I modified the "properties" tab at the bottom of the screen to 640x480... (it was 550x400)
- but that just makes everything larger when I click File > Publish
- and then look at the video in Internet Explorer... the Player Controls are still _On Top_ of the video.
I guess I need to learn how to
- Make the stage bigger
- Position the Player controls below the actual video

Aug 4, 2011We have developed flash video player which needs to playe large videos (at least 500 MB videos).We have some issues in the player right now.I am playing a 100 MB + video, it start playing and say it is buffering upto 50% of that video. Then I am closing that page. If I take that video again, it starts downloading from beginning. It never resume downloading from where it buffered previous time. But for small video files, this is looking ok. Is there any size limit a video player can buffer?Is there any better way to play large videos (more than 500 MB). Any other protocol or any other settings in flash player?

Aug 5, 2011I've ran into a weird problem while trying to send a JSON command to my company's flash player. Basically, i am unable to pass a playlist to this player - nothing happens - using the following command:
player.sendEvent("LOAD_PLAYLIST", json_str);
but the weirdest part is that if I print the entire command using Firebug's console.log, copy it and paste it into the code (thus hardcoding the playlist), everything works like a charm.
For instance, the following code:

Oct 10, 2011We have an ordinary video player built for Adobe Flash Player that streams a video file and plays it on a browser.However some of the video files aren't clear enough that we need additional video filters like sharpness filter while the others may require contrast filter or hue and tint filter due to its color balance.
The question is, is there any feature that are provided by Flash Player's core video component to apply those kind of filters on the fly at client-side?

Nov 11, 2011I want to send data generated by a flash module into an external executable in windows. From what I've learnt about interprocess communication, I think it is appropriate to use pipes in this case. I am using Flash professional CS5 and when a 'trace' command is used inactionscript the ouput will be displayed in the output window in flash professional. I think Flash pipes the data into the output window and if so is it possible to obtain the handle to that pipe. Is there a way by which I can write the output from flash player itself when the trace commands are executed or the data generated on an event directly into the buffer of a pipe.

If the version 10.1 or higher (in the future) no message should come up. The message should prompt a user to update to the Flash Player version 10.1. My entire site is in Flash and I am using AS3.
