Above is my xml file which has no ending tag for the from tag, which gives an error.I need actionscript code to check if there is a broken tag and then fix it automatically.

The parsing works perfectly except for the fact that I can't display the text between html tags. Flash interprets the html tag as an xml tag so it brakes the text chain. It just doesn't display the text after that in that node. It didn't work with textField.html properties set to true. Does anyone know how to make flash skip the html tags in that xml formatted text?

Dec 15, 2006I have been trying to figure out how you could add in custom attribute tags that flash can recover.
EX:

Except, that I would like to add a Custom tag, like "randNum" so that the tag user could input some number, or rather, a flash movie could generate a tag with a number already put in...Basically, heres a really basic version of the idea.There is a Flash Movie.In the movie, you can input text into a textfield.Upon finishing your message, you click a button "save".
The flash movie then:
1. Comes up with a random number unique to the message.
2. Assigns that number to a variable... "randNum".
3. Saves message as a xml file to the server as "filename" + randNum.
4. Outputs into a textfield a generated HTML tag that a user can post on myspace and such so that it will load in the flash movie.
Except... in the tag, there will be a custom attribute. If the random number variable "randNum" was 00112233, the custom attribute will be 00112233.
EX:
<embed src = "somefile.swf" width = "550" height = "400" randNum = "00112233">
So when the movie opens, it retrieves that randNum from the tag and can use it inside flash. How can this be done? Sorry this post was so long, but I wanted everyone to understand the concept.

My problem is that my page doesn't validate with the affiliate code in it. Is there any way to "hide" the code so it can pass the validate? Here are 2 samples of the affiliate codes

Apr 3, 2012For my project I am using the following:FlashDevelop 3.3.4 RTMFlash Pro CS 5 (libraries only, no code)Some time ago we started using TLFTextfields. One of the things I had to do was include the tlfruntime.swc file from the Adobe Flash CS 5 folder in the FlashDevelop project. Note that I copied this file to the project folder and included it, I didn't just include the file straight from the CS5 path. I have since been given a new computer that has Flash CS 5.5. I recompiled one of my swf libraries in CS 5.5, and now when I run the program, I get:Illegal override of createTextLine in flashx.textLayout.compose.ComposeStateI figure the tlfruntime.swc being included in the FlashDevelop project is out of date and needs to be updated with the one from CS 5.5. So I copied the tlfruntime.swc from the CS 5.5 path, include it in the FlashDevelop project (instead of the older file), but now I get this:

Professional :: Flash Shapes Broken Text?
Jan 7, 2010I have a flash website template, Fla File as well as all the source files etc, I have some questions if anyone would be kind enough to help. I am new to Fla files so not sure what to do.
There is some text I managed to edit ok, but others I could not, it appears as if they started as text and have been broken apart and made into a shape? when i click you can only highlight each letter, but not change them. There are two of these, one flies in from left, the other from right.

Problem is that when people go to a site and they don't have Flash and can't install it (ie: iPhone), they can't see phone numbers, address etc. which is why that came there. It would sure easier to push Flash if there was a way to have an alternate image to view.

Jul 20, 2011So, I've formally logged a bug against this with Adobe as I've been beating my head against a wall trying to understand why this won't work, but I'm hoping that it's perhaps something within the Flash IDE that I'm setting incorrectly (or not setting at all) that is causing the issue that I'm encountering: I've created a container .fla that uses classes that are defined in an externally loaded swc, child.swc. I've added the .swc in the container's library path (Publish Settings > AS 3.0 Settings > Library Path) and have set its "Link Type" as "Exernal". According to Adobe's docs:

Actionscript 3 :: Adobe Flash CS3 - DataGrid Component Is Broken?
Jan 18, 2010My datagrid component appears to be broken. When I drag one out onto the stage, its just a square. Nothing in it. Just a square... Then, when I tried to programmatically add it to the stage, using an example straight off the docs, it throws some errors:[URL]

This sounds very bad, especially considering that I need to use the DataGrid to complete my program. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? This is AS3, right in frame 1 of the main timeline.
Flash Won't Save Cookies + Global Settings Manager Broken
Aug 30, 2009I've had a problem which has been persisting for a long time now - Flash won't save any cookies to my computer. Originally I thought that it was my security settings, and indeed when I went to the global settings manager I clicked the "unlimited" option for data saves and allowed this for all sites. But when I reloaded the page the changes hadn't been saved. No matter how many times I clicked on the options to allow cookies and give unlimited data storage, whenever I came back the settings had reverted to default, as I had found them originally.
And when I went to C:/Documents and Settings/[user name]/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player#SharedObjects/ I found that there were no folders there, for none of the sites that I had visited.
This problem persists on IE, Firefox and Google Chrome. I've shut off all adblockers, all firewalls, all anti-virus software, uninstalled and re-installed Flash twice and still nothing. I'm at my wits end. I'm running Windows on a PC.
Professional :: Broken Hide Edges Function - Flash Crashing Randomly
Feb 15, 2012I'm having some trouble with my Flash Professional CS5.5. When I'm doing freehand drawing it shows the edges around every stroke I make. I have tried going to the menu, View -> Hide Edges and also pressing Ctrl+H. It does make the edges go away from the most recent stroke, but at the next stroke it reappears. Flash also started to crash from time to time, kinda randomly starting with not showing me the layers and then crashing completely giving me an error message talking about some file. This started about the same time as the edge thing. How to reset the settings? (I'm doing simple frame by frame animations in a ActionScript 3.0 document, if it's of any importance).

Flash MP3 Player - Loading ID3 Tags
Sep 7, 2009First, I'm having issues with loading ID3 tags. I can load the tags of the file currently playing, but how could you load the tags for a playlist that is selectable? The MP3 player runs on an XML file that holds the URLs to the MP3 files themselves. All other information is extracted from the ID3 tags. Do you have to load all of the MP3 files to get at their tags? Or can you JUST load the tags themselves? Will it slow down your stream? Etc...how best to build a playlist from ID3 tags.
Second, I'm having issues with the playlist buttons themselves. I need to build dynamic-text buttons that, upon clicking, will play that file. The play-on-click functionality I can do...but I can't seem to make them "clickable."

Mar 4, 2009I'm importing an XML document into a flash movie. The XML is using HTML tags so that I can highlight certain words and use HTML links in the text field the data is being loaded into.
But the issue I'm having is that all of the < and > tags and all information within it being displayed within the text field.
The text field's html property is true. The text field's multiline property is true. In the XML document, the text that I'm having load into this text field is separated by the CDATA tag so that it doesn't get parsed out.
I just can't figure it out. Before I used the CDATA tag, I put all the necessary < and > tags in place, and I'm getting the same results.
I don't know why everything is being displayed even though I'm rendering this text as HTML.
