Flash :: TLFTextfield Broken After Upgrading From CS5 To CS5.5?

For my project I am using the following:FlashDevelop 3.3.4 RTMFlash Pro CS 5 (libraries only, no code)Some time ago we started using TLFTextfields. One of the things I had to do was include the tlfruntime.swc file from the Adobe Flash CS 5 folder in the FlashDevelop project. Note that I copied this file to the project folder and included it, I didn't just include the file straight from the CS5 path. I have since been given a new computer that has Flash CS 5.5. I recompiled one of my swf libraries in CS 5.5, and now when I run the program, I get:Illegal override of createTextLine in flashx.textLayout.compose.ComposeStateI figure the tlfruntime.swc being included in the FlashDevelop project is out of date and needs to be updated with the one from CS 5.5. So I copied the tlfruntime.swc from the CS 5.5 path, include it in the FlashDevelop project (instead of the older file), but now I get this:
Illegal override of softKeyboardActivatingHandler infl.text.container.TLFContainerController.Can anyone assist with what else I need to do to get TLFTextfields working again in CS 5.5?UPDATE: I have updated FlashDevelop to 4.0.1 RTM, and now I get this error:Illegal override of createGeometry in flashx.textLayout.elements.FlowGroupElement.

right now I'm walking myself through senocular's OOP in flash tutorial. I use regular MX, and thus, actionscript 1.0. My question: should I follow through with this tutorial? I plan on upgrading flash when mx05 comes.change everything I know over to AS 2.0? does 2.0 just have added features, or does it change everything around?

i'm using AS3.I cannot divulge too much, but i have a multiscene, fairly complex flash program that runs fine in CS3. Upon upgrading to Flash CS4 - i can open the file and edit it any which way, but when testing it (ctrl+enter) i get an error in the output window (1009) and a blank test window, as if it doesn't want to start.

Has anyone else noticed a lot of things breaking since flash player 11 was released? I have input text fields that display html content in them. They also have an image embed in them as well. Before people could enter text in them with no problems and now suddenly all the text types from right to left and is completely backwards?
Just to be clear it's not aligning to the right, the actual letters are coming out backwards like it might do for another language that is from right to left. These text fields are not TLFTextFields just regular textfields.
I have other textfields just like this that, but they don't have images in them and they seem to be working fine. Anyone else have this issue or know what might be causing it with flash player 11?

I'm having an issue where I don't get a "FOCUS_OUT" event called when I click around the stage. I do get the "FOCUS_IN" event when I click the TLFTextField.Here is some of the code I have:

I'm using Flash CS5. I've got an embedded font loaded from an external SWF. As far as I can tell, it's embedded properly - it used to work before I switched from the classic TextField - but I needed to switch because I need the advanced ligature support. My code is:

Edit: Just tried to switch the font to Arial, and it fell back to Times New Roman again. So apparently the problem is not with the embedding, but with the way I assign the font - meaning this may be less complicated than I originally thought. Scratch that, Arial worked after I changed embedFonts to false.

All I want to do is get the formatting properties of a TLFTextField and apply it to another TLFTextField. This was simple using the classic TextField:
var textFormat:TextFormat = text1.getTextFormat();
text2.setTextFormat(textFormat);
TLFTextField has a getTextFormat and setTextFormat function, but they are both very buggy. getTextFormat only works if you change the selectable property to true, otherwise it generates a null object error. setTextFormat generates a NaN error when some of the properties of the TextFormat object are not null.
The TextLayoutFormat object is supposed to be used instead for TLFTextFields. You set the object by doing the following:
var text1:TLFTextField = new TLFTextField();
var textLayoutFormat:TextLayoutFormat = new TextLayoutFormat();
var textFlow:TextFlow = text1.textFlow;

But this just returned null. Does anyone know how to get the TextLayoutFormat so I can apply it to another TLFTextField?

it's a preloading code and it's simple, the code used to be with "TextField" and it worked OK, then I changed it to be with "TLFTextField" class but it doesn't work now. Maybe the solution is simple but I'm not familiar with the new "TLFTextField" class

I've a assets swc file that contains several TLFTextField objects, each one with it's style (font, color, size).
I use the following code to set a link:

This works as expected, but it changes the color of the text to blue;
What's the easiest way to configure the color of the text, without having to recreate all the TLF mechanism (ContainerController, Configuration, TextLayoutFormat, TextFlow, ParagraphElement, LinkElement, SpanElement, ...);
I was expecting something like this to work:
text_tf.textFlow.linkNormalFormat = { color:0x00ffFF, textDecoration:TextDecoration.NONE };

We have a library with a bunch of TextFields inside MovieClips. During runtime, we make an instance of one of these, run getTextFormat on it to get the formatting, then create a bunch of TextFields in code and run setTextFormat on them to give them the same formatting.
I'm trying to do the same thing but with TLFTextFields. I have the following:
var text:TLFTextField = new classFromLib();
text.selectable = true; //required for getTextFormat to work, flash bug
textFormat = text.getTextFormat();

If I set textFormat.leading and textFormat.letterSpacing to null before I run setTextFormat, then everything works, but obviously the text fields don't get the leading and letter spacing that the one in the library had.

I want to retain all formatting rules already applied to the TLFTextField unless I specifically change them, however the following code:

The library swf has about 280 symbols which are exported for AS3. All works fine until I make a new movieclip containing a TLFTextField, as opposed to a TextField. When I build the swf, there are no warnings or errors, but at runtime, I cannot load any asset from the library swf. The hasDefinition always returns false for every single asset. I gave the swf to a colleague who used 010 Editor to see all the definitions in the swf, and he said there were no symbols in it. I deleted the TLFTextField, rebuilt the swf, and gave it to him again. He said now it has 280 symbols in it. Somehow making a TLFTextfield and compiling is screwing up every single symbol in the swf, even though get no warnings or errors at compile time.

I would add a scrollbar to a TLFTextField, I know that should be possible because in the official documentation scrollTarget is DisplayObject.When I try to do that, Flash CS5 gets compiler error telling me that scrollTarget only accepts standard TextField.

I'm compiling a Flash project to an iPhone IPA file from the command line. I have an editable TLFTextField on the stage, but whatever I do, the softKeyboard on iOS won't pop up. Trying to set "needsSoftKeyboard" on the TLFTextField gives me an error when testing the movie via Flash: "property not found". The movie does load correctly on iOS, but still no keyboard pops up. It also doesn't matter if I put "pan" in the application descriptor file or not.
Basically I just want a keyboard to pop up to fill in text in an input field. What am I missing?

I have a flash website template, Fla File as well as all the source files etc, I have some questions if anyone would be kind enough to help. I am new to Fla files so not sure what to do.
There is some text I managed to edit ok, but others I could not, it appears as if they started as text and have been broken apart and made into a shape? when i click you can only highlight each letter, but not change them. There are two of these, one flies in from left, the other from right.

way to show a jpeg image while a Flash file is loading or better, if they don' t have Flash?
Problem is that when people go to a site and they don't have Flash and can't install it (ie: iPhone), they can't see phone numbers, address etc. which is why that came there. It would sure easier to push Flash if there was a way to have an alternate image to view.

So, I've formally logged a bug against this with Adobe as I've been beating my head against a wall trying to understand why this won't work, but I'm hoping that it's perhaps something within the Flash IDE that I'm setting incorrectly (or not setting at all) that is causing the issue that I'm encountering: I've created a container .fla that uses classes that are defined in an externally loaded swc, child.swc. I've added the .swc in the container's library path (Publish Settings > AS 3.0 Settings > Library Path) and have set its "Link Type" as "Exernal". According to Adobe's docs:

will be converting some web page forms developed with macromedia flash mx 6.0 to flash pro cs5.5
searched a lot for 'upgrade macromedia to adobe' , 'convert macromedia....' etc etc and found basically nothing called adobe tech support and they say 6.0 will not convert, oldest to convert would be 8.0 and didn't offer any help beyond that, downloaded the cs5.5 trial, opened up the 6.0 source ok, made a couple quick edits like changing label names etc, recompiled and ran on website using the existing codebase load and... pages loaded ok, drop down boxes worked, etc but some strange things like input text boxes for numerics only would only accept 0,9, and alphabet characters. so am not sure what to expect, theres a fair amt of action script, 8k lines, creating xml list to pass to succeeding web pages, etc etc so there's a bit going on.

My datagrid component appears to be broken. When I drag one out onto the stage, its just a square. Nothing in it. Just a square... Then, when I tried to programmatically add it to the stage, using an example straight off the docs, it throws some errors:[URL]

Were in the process of upgrading the FMS server licence to a FMIS licence. My question is that when we upgrade will we lose any of the functionality of FMS3.0 that is not present in FMIS. The FMS is currently used for direct streaming.

I have noticed a problem with the display of gradients since upgrading to CS4, and continuing in CS5. Prior to that, gradients used to display fairly reliably in Flash. Now I have noticed the following problems in CS4/CS5, on multiple computers and monitors. For instance, If I display the following drawing, which has several gradients, it looks like this on the left side of the screen:
If I drag the object--which is a graphic object from the library, drawn completely inside of Flash--to the right side of the screen, it looks like this: As you can see, the gradients do not display properly. The same thing happens when I scale the image down to a smaller size. It invariably looks worse on the right side of the screen than on the left. This display problem carries through into the SWF file when I export the movie.
In order for a complicated gradient drawing to look good on the right side of the screen, it has to be enlarged. This just didn't happen--using the same machines--with CS2.

Here's are the errors: VerifyError: Error #1053: Illegal override of allowInsecureDomain in _SwdModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory. ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable _SwdModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory is not defined.
SwdModule is a module used within the organization and there's an application that loads this (and various other modules) at run time. I've read on other stack overflow and various web site that this error was caused because the modules and the main app. were compiled using different Flex SDKs. I verified and checked up on this, but all of my SWFs are compiling using 3.5.
Can anyone think of anything else why this error would be occuring?

After upgrading the Flex SDK from 3.1 to any newer version of the SDK and trying to compile an existing project, the following error appears in the Problems pane:
Description: { expected Resource: (shows project name, not a specific file) Location: line 15
Any ideas how to solve this or where to start the bug hunt?
It looks like the problem is in the ...sdks/3.3.0/frameworks/libs/player/10/playerglobal.swc file, but I'm certainly not sure.

I've had a problem which has been persisting for a long time now - Flash won't save any cookies to my computer. Originally I thought that it was my security settings, and indeed when I went to the global settings manager I clicked the "unlimited" option for data saves and allowed this for all sites. But when I reloaded the page the changes hadn't been saved. No matter how many times I clicked on the options to allow cookies and give unlimited data storage, whenever I came back the settings had reverted to default, as I had found them originally.
And when I went to C:/Documents and Settings/[user name]/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player#SharedObjects/ I found that there were no folders there, for none of the sites that I had visited.
This problem persists on IE, Firefox and Google Chrome. I've shut off all adblockers, all firewalls, all anti-virus software, uninstalled and re-installed Flash twice and still nothing. I'm at my wits end. I'm running Windows on a PC.

I've upgraded a FlexBuilder3 project to FlashBuilder4, and I am seeing many compilation errors regarding unsupported tag attributes:
The style 'backgroundDisabledColor' is only supported by type 'mx.controls.TextInput' with the theme(s) 'halo'
Here is the offending mxml element:
<mx:TextInput x="245" y="86" id="code1" maxChars="15" change="enableButton(event)" cornerRadius="9" borderStyle="solid" backgroundDisabledColor="#7977b6" />
what is the best workaround for this particular error? I was able to easily resolve a similar error with the "backgroundColor" attribute by changing it to "contentBackgroundColor", and was hoping there was a simple workaround for backgroundDisabledColor as well. I realize I can apply a css style, but I'd rather have a simpler solution as there are many many other attribute errors similar to this one.
